Beauty Books I Recommend Reading

Beauty Books I Recommend Reading 2015

As a beauty blogger, it’s no secret that I don’t only love to blog about beauty, I also enjoy reading beauty blogs. Not only that, I also enjoy reading beauty books. It’s easy to consume content online very quickly but for me, when it comes to books, I tend to take my time instead of just skimming the pages like I would on a website.

I’ve read a number of beauty books over the years and when I did a major book purge last year (I donated about 90% of my books to the local library), I kept some of my favourites, which include a few beauty books. I’d like to share some of the beauty books I enjoy reading and that I’d love to recommend to you. Most of the books below are physical books (paperback and hardback) and a couple of them are Kindle versions.

My (Reverse) 52 Week Money Challenge

My 52 Week Money Challenge

I’m not sure when it was that the 52 Week Money Challenge came about but I know that it became very popular last year. Many bloggers and YouTubers were jumping on the bandwagon and after watching one too many YouTube videos on this subject, I decided to give the challenge a go as well. I discussed my intention for the challenge with LeGeeque and she showed me this article that was written by a blogger which was on the reverse version of the 52 Week Money Challenge and why the original challenge doesn’t really work.

Before I talk about my experience with the challenge, I thought I’d give you a brief description of the challenge. It’s essentially a money saving project where you save the amount of money corresponding to the number of weeks in the year. For example, on the first week of the year, you’ll save $1. Second week, $2. Tenth week, $10. On the 52nd week, you’ll save $52. You get the gist. That’s the basis of the original 52 Week Money Challenge.

I didn’t end up doing the original 52 Week Money Challenge but did the reverse version instead because come December, it will be a lot of money to save, especially on a month where I’ll be spending the most. It made more sense to me to do the reverse version and to start saving $52 on the first week of the new year, $51 on the 2nd week and so on.

That’s One Heck of a Glitter Brick, O Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick in Pastel Peach!

Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick in Pastel Peach

I’m sure many of you have heard of Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Bricks. They’re one of Bobbi Brown’s bestselling products and several brands have even made dupes of those shimmer bricks. Personally, I’m not a fan of those shimmerbricks, either the Bobbi Brown ones or the dupes because they’re simply too shimmery for my liking.

When the new Brightening Brick landed on my desk for review, I must admit, I was apprehensive. While it looked pretty damn good on the compact, the amount of shimmer I saw on the pressed powder was slightly shocking. I like my shimmer very subtly and that Brightening Brick does not lack in the shimmer department. Still, I was keen on giving it a go.

What’s In Store For Beautyholics Anonymous in 2015

What's In Store For Beautyholics Anonymous in 2015

Last Monday, I shared some of my personal goals for 2015 and how I plan to achieve them (well, most of them). It all started off with my going to the Archives for 2014 and I found this post that I wrote on my plans for Bloggie Wednesdays for 2014. To my horror, I did absolutely nothing on what I set out to do!

*head desk x 100*

Alrighty, no more dwelling on the past. What’s not done is … er … well, nothing. Let’s just bring those forward to 2015 and kick those butts and more!

When I was on my Christmas break, I did a lot of thinking about Beautyholics Anonymous and how I want it to be. First and foremost, it has always been very reader-oriented so it’s very important for me to think about what YOU want and not just want I want. Taking my annual reader survey feedback into consideration, here are some of the changes and new features I’ll be implementing in 2015.
