Do You Feel Naked Without Any Makeup On?

Do You Feel Naked Without Any Makeup On?

© Masson

I’m currently writing this blog post up while sitting at a cafe, having a cup of coffee … and I don’t have a lick of makeup on. That’s right, I’m out of the house and all I have on my face is sunscreen. No foundation, no BB cream, no lipstick.

I know. Horror of horrors.

The thing is, it doesn’t bother me at all. But if you were to ask me if I felt naked leaving the house without any makeup on up to a couple of years ago, I’d give a resounding HELL YES.

When I say makeup, I don’t mean a full face of makeup. Not in this context anyway. I’m not talking about having eye makeup on, bronzer or even blush. At the very minimum, it would be foundation or BB cream and a tinted lip balm. And nope, I don’t have any of those on right now and I don’t feel naked at all.

But you see, it wasn’t long ago that I would think otherwise. I would actually apply BB cream or foundation, blush and a lipstick before even just going to a grocery store. I wouldn’t even think of going to a shopping centre without makeup on. I’d feel really naked and exposed with my blotchiness, redness and hyperpigmentation for all the world to see.

Read My Lips: Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick in Rose Petal Matte

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick in Rose Petal Matte

I’ve used lipsticks from countless brands for more years than I’d care to remember but y’know something? I’ve never tried any from the classic brand that is Elizabeth Arden. For some reason, I’ve always steer cleared of that brand when it comes to makeup because, okay let’s be honest here, they don’t exactly have the most exciting makeup to check out compared to other departmental-store brands like Estee Lauder and even Clinique.

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of checking out some of Elizabeth Arden’s new range of foundation and lipsticks and I must say, I was impressed. In fact, I was very impressed and while their colour range to me is still rather mediocre, their new Flawless Finish Perfectly Satin foundation and the new range of their Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipsticks are really good. I’ll do a proper review on the foundation soon but today, I’d like to show you one of my instant favourite lipsticks and that’s the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick in Rose Petal Matte.

Tim Talks: I’m Stressed about Stressing Out! (First Aid for Stress and Anxiety Management)

A note from Tine: Welcome to another edition of Tim Talks! For those who are new to Beautyholics Anonymous, Tim Talks is a new series on the blog where my husband, Tim, will be sharing his knowledge to help raise mental health awareness. Tim is a psychiatrist who works in metro Melbourne. His area of interest is child, adolescent and youth psychiatry.

This month is Stress Awareness Month in the US and while it’s not “celebrated” (I can’t think of a better word) here in Australia, stress awareness is something all of us could learn a thing or two on. On today’s Tim Talks, Tim would like to share with you several tips on coping with stress.

Fight Stress

I don’t know about you, but the first part of the statement holds through for me on numerous occasions. I’m sure you have had those moments when everything that could go wrong is heading in that direction. For me, I remember having been caught up in heavy traffic whilst on the way to one of my clinical exams (thank God those are done and dusted), and then to find out later that the intended patient I was meant to interview didn’t show (another half an hour delay), and whilst presenting in the exam a mobile phone started ringing! (not mine, by the way). Tine can remember that I needed a lot of debrief and support after that ordeal, not to mention the repeated use of some of the relaxation strategies to cope with such anxiety.

In this blog post, I’d like to debunk some of the perceptions about stress and anxiety and share with you the tools we could use to manage these in our busy lives. We should never underestimate stress, which is a very significant contributor to poor mental health if it is not properly managed.

Again, not everything I mention here will work for everyone, but I’d strongly encourage you readers to give them a go, and to keep an open mind about it.

The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask: It’s Memory Foam In A Jar!

The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask

When this sleeping mask first launched in the UK, boy was it talked half to death. So many British beauty bloggers and YouTubers waxed lyrical about this and even though I read so much about it, you’d think I’d be bored to my eyeballs about it, right? Nope, it made me want to try it out even more. What the heck is this strange, pillowy texture that they kept talking about? I must find out!

When I found out that The Body Shop in Australia has finally launched the Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask, I was very excited. When a jar of it landed on my desk for review, well, let’s just imagine that level of excitement going on overdrive. Yes, I do get excited over the littlest things. 😛

By now, a lot of you would probably already know what a sleeping mask is. If you’re unsure, it’s something that was made very popular by the Korean beauty brand, Laneige, when they came up with their sleeping mask years ago. Basically, you apply the cream product on your face like you would a mask but instead of rinsing it off 15 minutes later, you keep it on like you would night cream. Essentially, you sleep with it on. This is what the Bouncy Sleeping Mask is about too.
