My Pretty Much Non-Existent Haircare Routine

Frizzy Hair

I have a confession to make. I spent buckets of money on my skincare, quite a lot on makeup, a decent amount on body care … yet the one thing that I’m always neglecting and put aside is my crowning glory. Whenever hairstylists ask me “what haircare products do you use?“, my answer is usually “whatever’s on sale at Coles, mate“.

There’s nothing wrong with haircare brands that you can get from the pharmacy or supermarket. My attitude towards my hair needs to be more positive and I need to put more effort into taking care of my hair. Even though my hair is so short now, I still dread washing it because the thought of having to blowdry it irks me. And I’ll have to straighten it with a flat iron the next morning.

I KNOW. I’m terrible. That’s why my hair hates me.

Get That Flawlessly Finished Skin with Elizabeth Arden’s Flawless Finish Perfectly Satin 24Hr Foundation

Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Satin 24Hr Foundation

A couple of weeks ago, I shared a lovely new lipstick I discovered from Elizabeth Arden. I had the opportunity to try out a couple of items from Elizabeth Arden and I must say, I’m pretty darn impressed. Elizabeth Arden is a brand I associated with my mother as she used to use a lot of their products when I was growing up and honestly, back then, I used to think that the brand was a bit “auntie” for me. Of course, this was back in the 90s and 20 years later, they must have gone through a thorough revamp because boy oh boy have they come up with some great gems.

Well, that and also I’ve become a bit of an “auntie” myself. 😛

Today, I’d like to share a new foundation by Elizabeth Arden with you and that’s the Flawless Finish Perfectly Satin 24Hr foundation. I had a bit of a makeover at Elizabeth Arden, which was when I first gave this foundation a go. The makeup artist applied this on my skin with a flat foundation brush and I was half-expecting for this foundation to look very thick and cakey on my skin. On the contrary, this foundation performed really well!

Bloggie Wednesday: My Repository of Free Stock Images

My Repository of Free Stock Images

© Nicola Perantoni

One of the hardest things about blogging is getting the right images to fit the blog post. When they do fit the blog, before we can even hit the Publish button, we have to think carefully: am I allowed to use this image on my blog? Ideally, we wouldn’t even have to think about this problem if we only use the photos we capture ourselves. However, there are times when that is not possible so we have to outsource.

A mistake I see a lot of bloggers make is to simply do a Google search for an image they want and use that image on their blogs. Next, they’ll credit the image to “Google”. This is a mistake and it can turn into a grave one when you get a copyright infringement letter from the creator of the image, or worse, a lawsuit. I’ve been in hot water several times for using images that didn’t belong to me when I started blogging years ago. Thankfully, those situations were resolved amicably as I immediately took those copyrighted images down.

When it comes to using images on the web for your blog, what can you use?

The Bracelet That Started It All (Including a Special Emma and Roe Giveaway)

THE GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING!

Note: This is a sponsored post.

Boy Mum and me 1985

Mum, my brother and I circa October 1985

Growing up, I was a very girly girl. I adored wearing dresses, accessories and jewellery, lots of them. I remember the very first bracelet that I had. I couldn’t remember if it was my mum or my grandpa who gave it to me but nevertheless, I absolutely loved it. I still remember it to this day.

It was a pearl bracelet. It’s not very fancy; it’s a simple bracelet of small cultured pearls strung in an elasticated band that I could easily slip on and off my wrist. Man, I wore that bracelet everywhere (except for school because that wasn’t allowed). I wore it during the day at home, I wore it to church, I wore it to concerts and so on. Heck, I even wore it to sleep. I wish I could show you a picture of me with that bracelet on. I had Mum rummage her big collection of old photos but she couldn’t find it.

Unfortunately, as I loved and wore it so much, eventually the elasticated band wore out and one day, it snapped. I lost at least half of the pearls and I couldn’t get anyone to fix it for me. I was devastated. In my childish anger and frustration, I told myself that I will never ever wear another bracelet again.

Well, I was, after all, just 8 years old. 🙂
