Compacts and Cosmetics by Madeleine Marsh

I first heard of Madeleine Marsh in a few YouTube videos by Lisa Eldridge four years ago. Lisa Eldridge is a fan and collector of vintage makeup, but she’s nowhere near THE collector who is Madeleine Marsh. I highly recommend you check out these videos where Lisa visited Madeleine’s home and was introduced to her stunning collection of vintage cosmetics.

I’ve been wanting to read Compacts and Cosmetics ever since those videos came out in 2011 but they were almost always unavailable on Book Depository. I couldn’t get it from Amazon either because 3rd party sellers hiked the price up to over $400 for the book! After a long time of searching, I gave up and it wasn’t until a month ago when I decided to search for the book again on Amazon. Just like before, the book was still selling at $400 but I managed to get a Kindle version (which wasn’t available back then) for just over $5! I would have preferred a physical copy of the book but heck, beggars can’t be choosers and I really, really wanted to read the book!

I’ve been really impressed with a couple of Paula’s Choice’s items I’ve been trying lately that I know I just have to share them with you. I’ve reviewed them before: they’re the Paula’s Choice Resist Hyaluronic Acid Booster and the Blush It On blush and contour palette. I’m still loving the blush palette and I’ve actually finished the entire bottle of the HCB serum. Can’t wait to repurchase that one!

The lovely people at Paula’s Choice knew how much I love these two beauty products and have offered to give away a set to one of you lucky readers! You know what? I think you’re going to love these as much as I do. 🙂

Maybelline Fit Me Matte Foundation

Maybelline’s Fit Me range has a new addition to the family, and it’s the Fit Me Matte foundation. To be honest, I wondered if the new Fit Me Matte foundation was necessary because the original Fit Me was already very good AND it leaves a matte finish on the skin. Still, you know I’m game to try new foundations so I didn’t hesitate to give this one a go.

Unfortunately, I cannot compare the Fit Me Matte with my original Fit Me foundation this time because I accidentally broke the latter a while back and had to chuck it into the bin. I’m relying on memory, my review and swatches in store to compare the two instead.
