Bloggie Wednesday: What Makes Your Blog Stand Out?

Bloggie Wednesday: What Makes Your Blog Stand Out?

Do you know how many beauty bloggers there are in the world? How many there are in your country? How many there are in your state? I couldn’t find an exact number or even a rough figure but if I had to guess, I’d say that there are probably thousands if not tens of thousands in the world. Googling “beauty blogs” alone render about 725,000 results, although that’s not an accurate representation because there are other websites that curate the “best” ones out there.

Suffice to say, it’s a very, very large pond. And we’re tiny fishes in said pond.

Sometimes, it almost seems impossible to have a voice to blog when there are so many already doing what we think is the same as what we do. But I’m a firm believer that even though it’s a very large pond, there’s room for everyone. You want to blog about beauty even though there are thousands of beauty blogs out there? By all means, do. But think about this for a second: what would you do to make your blog stand out? If you’re already blogging for a while now (hey, six months could also be a while), what makes your blog stand out? What makes YOU stand out?

Brow Stencils: Why I Don’t Like Them, Not One Bit.

Brow Stencils: Why I Don't Like Them, Not One Bit.

There has been a lot of emphasis on good, strong brows for the past couple of years. I’ve been seeing more and more very precisely shaped and groomed brows on Instagram and Pinterest and while I’m not a fan of how those very precisely-shaped brows look on me, I can certainly appreciate how good they look on certain people.

Although, I really have to say though, this very precisely-shaped, arched brow look doesn’t work on everyone. In fact, I have to wonder, were these super-arched and pointy brows originally formed by brow stencils? Or were brow stencils formed by the popularity of these sort of brows?

Brow stencils were created by beauty brands for women (and men) to create that arch and pointy end easily without worrying that they’ll go gung-ho with a pair of tweezers. Even though they don’t specifically mention it, brow stencils are typically targeted towards brow newbies who aren’t sure on how to shape their brows. These pre-defined shapes are meant to help them create a shape so that they’ll follow the shape and tweeze the rest of the unwanted hair.

My Cult Beauty’s Caroline Hirons Beauty Box Is Here!

Cult Beauty Caroline Hirons Beauty Box No 2

I don’t think I’ve ever been that excited about a beauty box than the one by Cult Beauty, particularly the Caroline Hirons beauty box. These boxes are so popular that one has to actually sign up to the waiting list before you can buy it, and they’re usually sold out very quickly. To be perfectly honest, while I’m sure the products are good, I think it’s an excellent marketing strategy by Cult Beauty as well, not just to create that sort of hype but to give that sense of exclusivity to the box.

I, for one, was hooked.

If you’re not aware of what the Cult Beauty Caroline Hirons box is, it’s a one-off, strictly limited collection in collaboration with Caroline Hirons, who carefully curated and chose the products to be included in the box. There’s a collection of serums, moisturisers and other beauty products that are meant to recapture your skin’s youthful glow. And if you don’t know who Caroline Hirons is, you have to check out her blog and YouTube channel right now. She’s my skincare guru and I wouldn’t have discovered the wonderful skincare products and ingredients that have given smooth, soft and boing-boing skin if it wasn’t for her. She’s a hoot and a half and her blog is highly informative and entertaining to read.

My Journey to Better Health and Fitness

My Journey To Better Health and Fitness

© sergey ponomarenko

Y’know, I write a lot about a lot of stuff here on BA but I never thought I’d actually be writing about health and fitness. It’s not because I don’t believe in it; I mean, really, who doesn’t believe in having good health and fitness levels, right? It’s just that I’ve been leading such a sedentary lifestyle before that it feels almost hypocritical to talk the talk but not walk the walk.

About 7 weeks ago, that changed. I started exercising daily. I started to eat better. I started to drink more water. And I thought I’d share my journey with you to better health and fitness and why I embarked on it. By the way, this blog post is going to be very long and rambly so get yourself a cup of tea and I’ll meet you back here in 5. 🙂
