Last weekend, I was doing a bit of decluttering of my skincare and makeup stash and I found a number of old products that I kept from years back that I had loved but don’t use anymore. The beauty products I favour these days are very different from what I used to use. I wouldn’t have thought I’d be using what I’m using on my skin now. I’ve tried a number of NUXE skincare products and to tell you the truth, I didn’t have much luck with most of them. They were either heavily fragranced or just didn’t do enough for my skin for me to go “wow, that’s an amazing product!“. I know a lot of people love the fragrance in NUXE skincare products, but I’m afraid it just isn’t my cup of tea.

A few months ago, I attended a press event by NUXE where they shared some of their latest skincare releases. One of them was the Nuxellence DETOX Night Pre-Serum. I must say, I was intrigued by the idea of a pre-serum. Out of all of the products in skincare, serums interest me the most and while I already subscribe to the notion of a “serum before a serum”, I was still excited to give the DETOX Night Pre-Serum a go. I was still a tad apprehensive about the scent but I thought oh why not. I didn’t think it was as strong as most of the other NUXE products anyway.

I’m glad I tried this serum out because it turned out to be a pretty darn good one!

Over the years, I’ve tried plenty of Asian cosmetics, particularly Japanese. On the other hand, I haven’t given much thought to Korean cosmetics nor have I tried a lot of them given that when Korean cosmetics started to get really popular, I had just moved to Australia and Korean cosmetics were hard to find. When they were finally more available in Asian suburbs and Chinatown, the prices were so ridiculously marked up that it didn’t give me any incentive to give them a go. So while I’ve tried a bit of Korean makeup here and there, the number still don’t go over a 2-hand count.

A few months ago, I discovered a new online store that’s based in Australia that sells only Korean cosmetics called Skinship. Co-founders Elle and Dee, who grew up as Australian-Koreans, carefully curate Korean beauty products that they’ve personally tried, tested and approved and make them available for purchase online. Dee kindly reached out to me and asked if I’d like to give some of the products they have a go. I picked up a couple of items and one of them is the Banila Co ‘It’ Radiant CC Melting foundation, which I’ll share with you today.
