As always, these do no constitute medical advice and if you do experience high levels of anxiety, please seek advice from your GP. If you have any questions about anxiety or mental health in general and do not feel comfortable to share them in the comments, please feel free to email us at tine@beautyholicsanonymous.com.

Tim Talks: Suffering in silence (Anxiety Disorders)

The feeling of an anxiety attack has been described by many patients that I have treated as one where they feel like they have lost all control of their faculties, having experienced an intense fear that they will die from that attack. The challenge is that these symptoms are not as apparent to the observer unless they experience a significant panic attack.

Anxiety disorders can have a significant impact on the sufferers’ capacity to live a fulfilling life. I hope this blog post will shed some light on this disabling condition.

Guess Who Also Loves One of Kim K’s Favourite Makeup?

Too Faced Love Flush Blush in I Will Always Love You

Never in my life did I think I’d be actively chasing after something that Kim Kardashian wore, liked and made popular. Sorry Kim K fans, me, I’m just not a fan. Don’t throw rotten tomatoes at me, okay? 😛

In fact, I had no idea that the reason this Too Faced blush, especially this shade in I Will Always Love You is so popular simply because it’s Kim K’s favourite blush (or something like that). I was simply checking out the Too Faced shelf at a Mecca Maxima store one day and after a bit of swatching, fell in love with this shade. It was the sales assistant who served me who enlightened me of the fact. After staring at that shade and swatches hard, I was already thinking “Kim K who? I WANT THIS!“. Unfortunately, just like their Born This Way foundation, this shade is very popular and it was sold out. I searched 3 Mecca Maxima stores before I finally bought the last one a particular store had.

The hype with Kim K aside … oh my, this is a beauty. A real beauty.

Bloggie Wednesday: What Has Blogging Taught You?

Bloggie Wednesday: What Has Blogging Taught You?

Whenever I meet new people at blogging events or parties, a common question I get is “how long have you been blogging?“. They’re often very surprised and in awe when I mentioned that I’ve been blogging for over 8 years, and that I must be some sort of blogging guru, when it fact, I’m not.

I’ve mentioned this to a few people and I guess I’m telling you this now but sometimes, I feel like a fraud telling people I’ve been blogging for such a long time because 1) it really doesn’t feel as though I’ve been doing it this long and 2) I don’t have the “social media numbers” to back it up. Social media was something I only concentrated on for the past few years and when I started, the only bloggers who’d be on Twitter and Facebook (no Instagram back then) were tech bloggers. I won’t be surprised if those people whom I’ve met checked out my social media platforms and think “has she seriously been blogging this long? Look at the number of Instagram followers she has. It’s pathetic!”.

On the other hand, I’m able to tell them how blogging has changed from when I started. How things are so different now, how big the social media scene is now compared to having a blog. How beauty blogging started with blogging about what we have and what we purchased with our own coin, to almost only writing about what’s been given to us for free. How as beauty bloggers, we should be supporting each other instead of bringing one another down, the latter of which I’ve been seeing a lot lately.

Over the years of blogging, I’ve learned a lot of things. I’ve picked up a lot of technical know-how, better photography skills and much more. But as a person, I’ve learned a lot about myself.

Do You Suppress Your Sneezes? Or Do You Just Let Them Go?

Woman Sneezing

© maxximmm

I have this really strange habit of having sneezes that come in threes. I very seldom only sneeze once and after my first sneeze, it’s even more seldom that I stop at the second. This results in a lot of “bless yous”, especially when I do it again. And again. And again. Aww bless those people who feel obligated to say “bless you” to my multiple sneezes. 😛

Ah but when it comes to sneezes, are you the sort of person who suppresses your sneezes? Or do you just let them go? All hell break loose, HA-CHOOOOOO sort of thing?
