Gimme A Shot Of Hydration With REN’s Keep Young and Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot

REN Keep Young and Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot

I’ve tried many different types of serums over the years but the three non-negotiable must-haves are hyaluronic acid/hydrating serums, exfoliating serums and retinol serums. The combination of these three types of serums have improved my skin significantly to the point where I can say that my 30s skin looks way, WAY better than my 20s skin. Today, I’d like to share with you a new hydrating serum that I’ve tried over the past month and that’s the REN Keep Young and Beautiful Instant Firming Beauty Shot.

I must admit that prior to this, I’ve only tried one other REN product, and that’s the Moroccan Rose Otto Body Wash, and only because it was a free sample in a goodie bag I once received. I haven’t properly given products from this brand a go, so I’d say this was my first. Paris B raved highly about this hydrating serum and there’s one thing I’ve learned about reading her blog; when she says a beauty product is good, I’m getting it. 😛

While I thought this was a good hydrating serum, I’m afraid I didn’t love it as much as Paris B did. And here’s why.

I’m Back And It’s Time For A Change!

Wedding at Dhara Dhevi Chiang Mai

Hello hello my beautiful chickadees!

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Over a month, to be precise. Gosh, I’ve never been that long away from BA before and to be honest, while it was a scary thought at first, I’m glad I took the time before I properly came back. And when it was time to come back, it was tough because blogging had become a sort of daily habit of mine over the past many years. When a habit is broken for more than 2 weeks, it’s hard to get back on the horse. It’s true; even the experts said so! 😛

Many of you emailed me to ask me how I was during the break and that I’ve been missed. I can’t tell you how much that really touches my heart that even when I was away, so many of you cared about me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

So, what have I been up to the past 6 weeks?

BA’s Taking A Break

Blog Break

I’m not sure if you have noticed this but if you’re a long-time reader of BA, you may have noticed that the quality of posts have declined over the past few months. At least, I thought they weren’t up to par. If you haven’t noticed, bless you. 🙂

After almost 9 years of blogging, it seems as though I’ve pretty much run out of things to blog about. What have been said has already been said and to tell you the truth, many times I feel like I’ve been pulling out hot air out of my hat. I haven’t been happy with what I’ve been producing lately. It’s no one’s fault but my own. The content vault has run severely dry and is running on goodness-knows-what sort of fuel. It’s almost as though I’ve lost perspective of what BA was supposed to be about. Trying to come up with content for 5 days a week has gotten exceedingly hard, especially when I’m not trying out many new beauty products nor have the desire to simply buy and use simply for review. I want to love what I use and I want to share with you what I’ve found that’s so good, you gotta try it out too. Unfortunately, I haven’t been feeling inspired in quite a while and I figured it’s time to stop all those fluffy fillers posts and take a step back.

Let’s Talk About A Beauty Brand: The Body Shop

Note: This is not a sponsored post nor did I receive any of the products I’ve recommended below for editorial consideration. This brand focus is purely for the love of the brand and its products.

The Body Shop Chadstone

I’ve been meaning to do a brand focus series for a while now but each time I get started, it kept getting pushed back for other stories. Finally, no more procrastination; it’s here! Today, we’re going to kick the series off with one of my favourite brands, The Body Shop.

The history

The British brand was founded by Dame Anita Roddick. Well, the brand of what it is today, because the original name and concept were not Roddick’s idea. In 1970, Roddick visited a shop that was actually called “The Body Shop” in California that sold naturally-scented soaps and lotions. In 1976, she opened a similar shop in the UK using the same business name, colour scheme and cosmetic lines. Ten years later, Roddick offered the original “The Body Shop” owners a reported $3.5 million to change their shop’s name to Body Time whereas Roddick retained the original name. The rename was completed in 1992. In March 2006, L’Oreal bought over The Body Shop for £652.3 million. Roddick passed away in September 2007 but her brand lives on and continues to thrive today. The first Australian store opened in Melbourne in 1983.
