FOTD Featuring NP Set’s Red Carpet Set

I haven’t been doing an FOTD post for a while now, so what better way to kickstart the first FOTD post of 2012 with a lovely palette I discovered from NP Set.

NP Set Red Carpet Set

NP Set is launching two new makeup palettes this month, the Red Carpet Set and the Glam Set. Today, my look will be taken mostly from the Glam Set. I think it’s a fun palette to try out because the first time I laid eyes on it, believe you me, I didn’t think I could pull anything off from this one. I mean, look at it. Blue, bronze-gold, and bright orange. How would it even work? Am I going to end up with 80s streaks on my face? πŸ˜›

Surprisingly, it worked very well. In fact, I think I can definitely pull this off during the day. I ended up using only the blue and purple on the lids, and, horror of horrors, combined the bright orange blush with the blue just below the brow bone. Scary thought? Definitely fooled me πŸ˜›

Unfortunately, the camera didn’t pick up the bright orange shade on the top part of the lid. It really is there!

The bright pink lippie is my favourite. It’s such a bright, wake-me-up colour on the lips. The blush is a bright coral and it is highly-pigmented, so a light hand is needed. But when it goes on the cheeks, it gives me a pretty, healthy flush that I really like.

The NP Set Red Carpet Set is a versatile palette that I would recommend to anyone. Don’t freak out at how odd the colour combination is; somehow it just WORKS. The palette does not come with any makeup brushes though, which is fine with me, since I prefer to use my own brushes anyway.

The NP Set Red Carpet set retails at AU$29 and is available at Target and Big W stores nationwide.

The palette was provided for consideration. To be honest it wouldn’t have been something I would pick up if I just saw the palette with such a colour combination, but now that I’ve actually tried it out, it’s such a pretty palette to have. Two thumbs up!

I really like the ticks you placed on the palette photo, it gives a unique view of the colours you used. They look so bright and scary but it turned out really nice and subtle. Two thumbs up.

Kayekie: Thanks Kayekie. It really is a pity the photos didn’t really show the bright orange shadow on the eyes (I’ve tweaked and tweaked but to no avail), because it really shows that the blue and orange actually do go well together! πŸ˜›

Plue: Aww Plue how lovely you are. Thanks πŸ™‚ It’s the second time I’m trying that Clinique foundation, plus I actually used a flat-top kabuki brush to apply it (I normally just use my fingers), so maybe that’s why it looks better this time πŸ˜›

Bun Bun: I love the pink lippie too! It’s so pretty. See I thought I’d be all boring and choose neutrals, but this one’s just bangin’. There’s another palette called the Glam Set, which has neutral colours, and I’m like, MEH πŸ˜›

Nice palette! Complete with eyeshadows, blush and lippie! πŸ™‚ Love how the colors turned out on you! Pretty! πŸ™‚

Issa: I was actually quite disappointed the camera didn’t capture the colours better, because I did a bit of colour-blocking on the lids (orange and blue) and they actually work. Doing these FOTD posts have taught me one thing – you really have to pile on the colours up to the point of garish just for the camera to pick them up >.<
