When I first received these in the mail, I literally gasped how at beautiful they look in the oval bottles, especially the one in dark pink. The glitter and flakes look like, as the name would have it, gems in a glass bottle.
To be honest, I’m not really a fan of glittery nail polish. Some can look very dirty on the nails. And don’t get me started on what a pain in the behind they are to remove. But for the Gem Crush, I made an exception because once I swatched them on my nails, my fingers look like a whole lotta bling, and somehow, I like it 😉
There are 8 colours in the range, and today, I’m going to show you two, which are Big Money and Lady Luck.
Big Money is chock-full of gold and silver glitter. I think Big Money is an apt name for this because it reminds me of gold. Lots and lots of gold 😛 Lady Luck is dark pink shimmery polish with heaps of AB (Aurora Borealis) glitter. It’s my favourite shade of the two.
Excuse the 4th finger gloop. Manicure fail 😛
As most heavily-glittered nail lacquers go, these are no different in terms of the difficulty in removal. I find that the easiest way to remove these are to cover each fingernail with acetone-soaked cotton pads, and wrap each finger with aluminium foil for about 10 minutes. The foil method has never failed me 🙂
Each Sally Hansen Gem Crush retails at AU$9.95 and is available at Target, Kmart, Priceline and selected pharmacies nationwide.
Pretty but not my thing because it’s jsut a little too bling. I’ll stick with shimmers 🙂 And on that note, Priceline has a 3 for 2 sale going on this week for Sally Hansen products 🙂

LeGeeque: I’m actually more into shimmers too. I’m not a glitter girl 😛

OOHH I am super scared to use bling bling nail products, they are super hard to remove!!!! They look absolutely pretty though
Nikki: Oh tell me about it. The first time I tried to remove a similar polish, I created craters on my nails because I tried using the orange stick to actually scrape the glitter out 🙁
i love the big money!!!! but is the finish very gritty? i find that most of the gritty polish tend to ruin my blouses cause my nails are always trapped in the threads or scuffing the blouses

Xin: The finish for Big Money is quite gritty, even with top coat on, but it isn’t for Lady Luck. Aww really? That sucks! I find that cotton wool tend to stick like a biatch to the nail polish when there’s glitter on. Very annoying 🙁
How many coat did you apply? I absolutely love glitter nail polishes, but some of them you need to work on applying several coats to fully cover your nails.. and I hate that
Helz: Two coats for this. It’s good enough. But yeah, I know what you mean. I’ve encountered a lot of glitter and shimmer lacquers that require a number of coats to achieve opacity, and I don’t like that too. Especially since glitter polishes are a pain to remove. I find that if I paint a similar shade on the nails before I apply the glitter polish, it tends to work better 🙂
I love glitter nail polishes, even though they are a pain to remove! Lady Luck looks gorgeous!
