Escape the everyday along the windswept shore. Waves breaking white, the air fresh with sea salt and spray. Alive with the mineral scent of the rugged cliffs. Mingling with the woody earthiness of sage. Lively, spirited and totally joyful.
Top note: Ambrette seeds
Middle note: Sea salt
Base note: Sage
Read that and tell me you’re not tempted to even give it a sniff.
I’ve been reading a lot about Jo Malone’s latest fragrance, Wood Sage and Sea Salt, for months and when it was finally launched in Australia, I knew I had to check it out. When my folks were visiting, Mum and I made a quick dash to David Jones where I tested this out. After just one sniff, I knew I had to have it. Mum was surprised that I was interested in such a scent (she always thought I was a floral kinda gal. Sorry Mum, I’ve moved on!) but even she said it was a unique and interesting fragrance.
After telling the sales assistant that it was a gift (FOR ME!) and that I wanted him to wrap it up all nicely (again, FOR ME!), I walked out of the store a very happy camper.
Before I had the chance to give this a whiff, I actually expected this perfume to have a marine scent. I don’t know how to describe marine scents but it’s definitely not fruity nor floral. This isn’t a typical marine scent. It’s slightly woody, a tad earthy and has a sense of aquatic freshness to it. I don’t have any fragrances quite like it to give you a comparison but it’s a beautiful, beautiful fragrance nevertheless.
I’ve tried a number of Jo Malone fragrances and this is my favourite by far. I’ve been wearing this almost daily all month. If you’re looking for something fresh, unique, soft, feminine yet doesn’t have the usual floral and/or fruity notes, I highly recommend checking this out.
Jo Malone’s Wood Sage and Sea Salt Cologne retails at AU$90.00 for 30ml and AU$180.00 for 100ml.
I had a Jo Malone cologne a long time ago that I got from Australia (it wasn’t available in Malaysia at that time). This sounds really good. Will have to take a sniff the next time I visit the boutique 🙂

Hahaha when the nose knows, the nose knows. 😉
When you mentioned marine scent, the first thing that popped up in my mind is Crabtree and Evelyn’s La Source, though I’m not sure if that is your kind of marine scent. May have to make some time to go into town to have a whiff of this, and probably bite the bullet and buy it as in early second Christmas present, first being the Guerlain meteorites perles (after four grueling years of tell myself no), heh heh.
Ah hah that’s the sort of scent I’m talking about as well! The La Source is definitely up my alley. 😀
PS: Get the balls first. Much better. Ahem. 😛
