Now y’all know I’m a huge fan of Cetaphil products. The Gentle Skin Cleanser is a no-brainer (that’s Holy Grail stuff, yo!) and the moisturising lotion is a godsend when your skin is acting up and can only take the bare minimum of products. Did you know that Cetaphil also has a range called Suntivity which is a range of sunscreens? I had no idea!
Since we’re getting a lot more sun these days, I’ve been using a lot more sunscreen and I thought why not give the Suntivity SPF50+ Ultra-Light Lotion a go? Was this a spur-of-the-moment purchase at Priceline?
Totally. 😛
The lotion looks quite thick when squeezed out of the tube but it’s lightweight and easy to blend on the skin. Even though it looks like opaque ivory cream, it does blend seamlessly onto the skin and you won’t see the “whiteness” any more. The scent is typical of sunscreen but it’s not so old-school strong that is offensive.
Unfortunately, even though it’s lightweight, I couldn’t use this on my face. The lotion is too rich for my combination skin and it leaves a sheen on my face even after blotting, making it look like a greasy pot.
On the other hand, this works swell as a body sunscreen for me. I actually like the sheen on my arms and legs even though it’s a no-go on my face. The sheen reflects against the light and makes my skin looks slightly bronzed and tanned even though this isn’t a self-tanner. Yes, even my pasty white legs can appear bronzed without a tan! 😛
Word of warning: the sunscreen can feel a tad tacky on the skin so please be aware of that, especially if it’s something you can’t stand. I’m pretty particular when it comes to product “stickiness” yet it’s not bad enough to bother me. I wouldn’t exactly label this a favourite but as a body sunscreen, it’s actually not bad at all. If you’re looking for a decent body sunscreen that doesn’t break the bank, why not give Cetaphil’s Suntivity a go?
Cetaphil’s Suntivity SPF50+ Ultra-Light Lotion for Body and Face retails at AU$20.99 for 100ml and is available at selected pharmacies and supermarkets nationwide.
What I like about it: Lightweight sunscreen for the body, doesn’t have a strong sunscreen scent, makes my pasty skin look healthy with shine, high SPF.
What I do not like about it: Too rich for my face, tends to feel a tad sticky.
Hi Tine! Haven’t tried this one but I am loving the Neutrogena Ultra Clear Face SPF 30. I wear it most days under makeup, does smell like sunscreen but doesn’t leave me too shiny in the t zone 🙂
Ahh I remember that one; I used to use that Neutrogena sunscreen too! 🙂
I picked up this at Priceline when they had an introductory price ($4 off) and have been using it quite a bit – I’ll need to purchase another one soon. I find it to be the best sunscreen I’ve ever used!
I don’t have any problem with it on my face and love that I can put it all over and don’t get any sensitivity or stinging in my eyes, even when I’m perspiring. Being fragrance-free, oil-free, doesn’t block my pores, and is 4 hours water resistant. I love the light texture and that it’s not sticky at all and doesn’t transfer to my clothing, stain it or make it smell like sunscreen. It’s more than I’d like to spend on an everyday sunscreen and is only 100ml (yes, I know there are some very expensive ones out there), but hopefully they’ll bring out a larger more economical size in the future.
I wonder if they’ll come up with the family-sized version that comes with a pump. That would be really useful and definitely more economical.
This line of sunscreens is fantastic – completely non-irritating and feels pretty good on the skin. The ‘liposomal’ SPF 50+ is my go-to for the face, every single day. I’d like to know though Tine – what is your very favourite body sunscreen, i.e. the least ‘tacky’ formulation?
I actually like using face sunscreen on my body as it’s a lot lighter. It’s more expensive to use it that way because I use up the sunscreen a lot quicker but hey, at least I’m protected. 😛 My very favourite is Biore’s UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence. Having said that, I’ve discovered a few good ones that have minimally tacky formula e.g. Nivea Sun Light, Neutrogena’s Dry Touch and La Roche-Posay’s Anthelios XL Fluid (not the rest; don’t like the rest). 🙂
