Happy hump day, you gorgeous chickadees!
First of all, let me just say, thank you so much for participating in the Beautyholics Anonymous Annual Reader Survey 2014. All of your feedback was fantastic and this will help me tremendously in planning content for you in 2015.
Y’see, us bloggers, we think we know what you want. We write what we think you want, which is often what we want, which funnily enough, isn’t really what you want. Have I confused you yet? When I read your feedback, it astounded me because what I thought you wanted wasn’t really what most of you wanted! Yet you stuck around with me, day in and day out with nary a complaint.
Seriously, you guys. BEST. READERS. EVER. A blogger could only get so lucky to have y’all in her blogging life. *sniff*
Anyway, since you’ve helped me out with the survey, I thought I’d show you the results in case you’re interested. Me, I’m just happy to whip up the ol’ Excel and get crackin’ on ’em spreadsheets!
I had 172 responses for the survey and here are the results.
1. Are you male/female?
2. What country do you live in?
3. What is your age?
4. How did you find Beautyholics Anonymous?
5. How long have you been a reader of Beautyholics Anonymous?
6. How often do you read Beautyholics Anonymous?
7. Where do you usually read Beautyholics Anonymous?
8. How many posts would you like to read a week?
9. What are your thoughts on a summary feed instead of a full feed on your RSS reader, Bloglovin’, email, etc?
10. What are your thoughts on sponsored content on Beautyholics Anonymous?
11. How would you like press samples, affiliate links and sponsored posts to be disclosed on Beautyholics Anonymous?
12. Have you made any purchases on products that were recommended on Beautyholics Anonymous?
13. Are you currently subscribed to the Beautyholics Anonymous Insider weekly email newsletter?
The rest of the questions had written answers so I won’t be able to share all of them. I found the answers where I’d like you to summarise Beautyholics Anonymous is 3 words so funny! Here are some of them: Funny, Informative, Dangerous-for-my-wallet, Non-cookie-cutter, Honest, Addictive and so on. Aww thank you so much!
I’m definitely taking the ones on what you’d like to see more/less of on BA on board when planning content for 2015. There’s a very interesting divide between the ones that enjoy the Bloggie Wednesday series and the ones who don’t (understandably, the latter comes from readers who don’t blog. Fair call!). Another thing that really surprised me was that the highest percentage of the readers who responded actually preferred me to post 2-3 times a week. As I’m currently blogging 6-7 days a week, I’m sure you can imagine my surprise there. Wow!
Even though the data above is most important to me on knowing more about you, I have to say that the answers to the bonus question were by far the best part of the responses to the survey. I asked you: If you’re given $100 right now, what’s the FIRST thing you’d buy with it? The answer wasn’t not required but most of you did and they were so interesting to read! Here are some of my favourites:
- “Ear crawler! Been wanting one for ages!”
- “The NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette. And the Yachiyo brush. Ok, it’s more than $100 but I have some change in my wallet.”
- “Please enable me to buy the Kate Spade New York Cedar Street Stacy Wallet!”
- “I don’t generally count my chickens before they hatch, but I’d probably split it between myself and my mom, or get something we could both use.”
- “Time, if I could. But that’s impossible. So, I’ll rush out to buy me some long deserved pretty clothes. Baby already over 1 year old and it’s time for mommy (me) to enjoy her 1st shopping.”
Many of you wanted a bag. If I could reach out to you in person right now and give you a high five, I would. 😛
I’ll be doing some serious thinking and planning for next year. I’ll be rolling changes out bit by bit per your feedback but I won’t tell you what it is now because there are a lot to be considered. I’ll definitely let you know what the changes are beginning of 2015 and what you can expect to see/not see on BA.
By the way, I’ve already randomly selected the winner for the US$100 Shopbop gift card. Hop on over to the Competition/Giveaway Winners page to find out if you’ve won!
Just before I go, here’s a suggestion to my fellow bloggers: please run a reader survey on your blog as well because there’s so much of your readers that you probably don’t know about. I can’t even begin to tell you what a difference reader surveys mean to my blog. It’s incredibly helpful to know who your readers are and what they want from you.
Thanks again, dear readers, for taking the time to help me out. I can’t wait to bring you better content in 2015!
I love how you displayed the results, Tine. Well done!! Actually, I’m not surprised by the split between those wanting fewer and those wanting more posts. I noticed when I began to blog more often, I lost subscribers. As with a magazine, people drop it when they feel they can’t keep up…even though this is digital. I do hope you’ll keep bloggie Wednesday for those of us bloggers. I can’t even express how much help you and your BW posts have been to me!

Aww thank you so much for your kind words, Al! It’s so funny, isn’t it? I actually get unsubscription notices from people with the reason “too many updates: as well. Another sign to tell me not to blog so much. 😛 Having said that, I agree with you; I can’t keep up with many blogs either especially when they update daily and more often than not, I’ll just mark all as read. Damn. I should practice what I do as well.
Bloggie Wednesdays will definitely stay on. I love it too much to drop it. Funny thing is, people know my blog more for the BW series than the beauty stuff! 😛
