I must admit, when I first heard of this foundation, I was very keen on trying it out. The swirling white bits that are separate from the foundation as seen in the bottle are very pretty and it piqued my interest as to how lovely this would make my skin look. This foundation is meant to provide a luminous, radiant finish on the skin and I wanted that on my skin.
Unfortunately, that wasn’t the result I got. This foundation frustrated me so much to the point where I’m afraid I have to say it’s one of the worst I’ve used.
Description:
Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation contains an innovative swirled formula packed with subtle skin luminizers that deliver a beautiful luminous finish with added skincare benefits. The pearl pigments brighten skin tone for instant radiance while elastomers create βwindowsβ in the skin through which light can be reflected back, creating a luminous and wide-awake effect.
The foundation looks rich and creamy when dispensed onto the back of my hand. Even though it looks creamy, it actually has a very dry texture on the skin making it difficult to blend with my fingers. I normally use my fingers to apply and blend foundation onto my skin and I had trouble making this appear well-blended and smooth. This foundation also leaves unsightly dry patches on my skin.
The foundation gives a satin finish on the skin and its coverage is light but I expected it because that feature is already mentioned on the bottle and press release. It doesn’t really even out my skin tone 100% because, like I mentioned earlier, the foundation isn’t easy to blend and even out. It leaves my skin flaky, patchy and looking worse than before I had any foundation on!
Now I thought this could be due to the current condition of my skin. It hasn’t been in tip top condition lately and has been very dehydrated, especially on the cheeks and forehead. However, I tested other drugstore foundations after this one and all of them looked perfectly fine on my skin regardless of how dry and dehydrated certain areas are. I’ve even used the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge and a foundation brush to work this foundation but the foundation ended up looking even flakier on my skin.
This means that it’s the Skin Luminizer that isn’t working for me at all. I really was expecting better. Sigh.
Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation retails at AU$33.95 and is available in 6 shades. Max Factor is available at selected pharmacies (e.g. Priceline) nationally.
What I like about it: The packaging with the swirly bits looks good.
What I do not like about it: Very dry foundation, doesn’t blend well, makes my skin appear very flaky, coverage is too light, don’t like how dry and patchy it makes my skin look.
Gee..I’m glad I missed this. I did tried it before deciding to get Max Factor ageless elixir 2 in 1 foundation+serum SPF15 just awhile ago. I’ve got ‘Natural’ and so glad that it doesn’t oxidise throughout the day. (Woollys & Target is currently running promotion). I find this Skin Luminizer drying.. My skin just not liking it.
I’m loving the serum & SPF (ageless elixir)! Have you tried it? I love Bobby Brown foundation too because of its colour ranges..Laura Mercier is my fav too! Well, seriously a girl wouldn’t stop at one foundation.. I hope you will comment Make Up Forever foundation in future.
Thank goodness I’m not the only one who thought the Skin Luminiser was dry. I really thought it was just me!
Nope, haven’t tried the Ageless Elixir yet. It’s that good, huh? I’ll check it out the next time I’m at Priceline. I actually haven’t tried out MUFE’s foundations yet. I’ve been meaning to for a while now but whenever I’m at a beauty expo (Salon Melbourne, IMATS, etc), the line is always so freaking long that I get fed up and move on). I’ll get it when I’m in Malaysia next year. π
PS: Why stop at just one foundation? π
awww…. shoot! I wanted to try this foundation as well because they used it backstage at the Victoria Beckham show! Would a primer work better underneath? Also, Olay came out recently with a similar one, called White Radiance CC cream. It also has the white swirly bits inside. Do you get it over there?
I haven’t tried that Olay CC cream yet. I’ve seen it here! I’ll check it out the next time I’m at Priceline. π
Those ladies at the VB show must have super oily skin or something to be able to take the Skin Luminiser foundation. Even though I have combination skin, I couldn’t get it to work for me at all. π
Yes love hate this foundation. Some days looks great and lasts well other days I look like an oil slick π I cannot work out what I do differently on the good days. Now it is in the night foundation category π
I’m glad it still works for you even though it’s a bit of a love-hate relationship. I couldn’t get this to work for me at all. π
