10+1 Beauty Products I'd Stockpile. Y'know, Just In Case

Picture the scenario: You recently found out that your super Holy Grail of [insert makeup product] is being discontinued. Next to freaking out, what do you do?

Why, you stockpile them, of course! What? No? just me? Okay, moving along then. 😛

Oh yeah, I’d stockpile them all right. I’d be sweeping them off the shelves and into my shopping basket. So far, I’m very fortunate that none of my favourites have been discontinued yet (touch wood!) but if they ever do, I’ll need to get at least two of them to keep before they run out completely. I won’t be able to buy a lot, of course, since makeup does expire but two items should tide me over as I continue to search for something that can replace those favourite products.

You’ve heard me ramble on and on and on about these products before so I’m not going to talk much about each item. Suffice it to say, if any of the brands below decide to discontinue these products one day, I’m going to be stocking up like crazy. Initially, I had 10 in the list and then I remembered that there was one more that needed to make the list so it’s now 10+1 instead. 😛

Here they are in no particular order.

10+1 Beauty Products I'd Stockpile. Y'know, Just In Case

bLiv Off With Those Heads
My go-to day serum for oil control and to prevent breakouts around my nose. I’ve been using this religiously for many years. (review here)

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
I like the Urban Decay Primer Potion and NARS Smudgeproof primer too but if I have to choose among these three, I’d pick the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I find that eyeshadows adhere better to my oily eyelids with this one on. (review here)

Australis Voluptulash mascara
My Holy Grail mascara. This gives me vavavoom eyelashes without any smudging after a full day and night’s wear. Word of warning, use it sparingly and don’t go to town applying lashings of this on because too much will make your eyelashes look like spider’s legs. I have spare tubes of this in my makeup collection just in case they ever decide to pull it off the shelves. (review here)

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum gel foundation
I have tried and loved many, many foundations but at the end of the day, this is still the foundation I go to because it works a treat on my skin. When rumours were circulating on the beauty grapevine that this foundation was going to be discontinued, I fired a very quick and worried email to the PRs for Bourjois Australia asking if it was true. They didn’t know about other countries discontinuing the foundation but this will still be stocked in Australia. Phew! (review here)

Face of Australia Gentle Makeup Remover
This is my Holy Grail of oil-based eye makeup removers. I’ve tried other cheap ones and I’ve tried the very expensive ones and none of them worked as well as the one by Face of Australia. I can literally have this in my eyes and it wouldn’t sting one bit. It removes waterproof eye makeup very well and it’s very affordable too. (review here)

Urban Decay NAKED palette
I have a lot of eyeshadows to last me a lifetime so it’s strange that I would actually stockpile this if this is ever discontinued. This eyeshadow palette has served me very well over the years and the eyeshadows in there are some of the very, very few eyeshadows that do not crease on my oily eyelids. Even though I now prefer the LORAC Pro palette to the NAKED palette, I’d still happily stock up on this one because it has been with me for years and it’s something I just can’t let go.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronised Recovery Complex II
My go-to night serum for everything skin-goodness-related. When I run out of the serums I’m trialling or if any of them break me out, I always go back to the ANR. It’s also the serum I bring with me when travelling because it doesn’t irritate my skin at all regardless of the temperature or weather I’ll be heading to. (review here)

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
This is a firm staple in my bathroom and I use it daily. I use this to cleanse my skin in the morning. I also use it to give the nether regions a quick clean. This is also very good to use post-surgery. When I had my breast lump removal surgery and 2 laparoscopies, I used this to clean myself when I wasn’t able to take a shower.

Dr Lewinns Super Line Smoothing Complex S8 Hydrator
This is a great hydrating serum and I’ve purchased multiple bottles of this. In fact, this is the one I’m currently TRYING to stockpile because this is exceedingly difficult to find. All of the Priceline and Chemist Warehouse stores no longer stock this and when I checked with their PR, they mentioned that this isn’t discontinued. Why it’s so difficult to find is beyond me. If you like the Hydraluron serum, you’d love this even more. Having said that, I’m currently using the Dr Lewinns Line Smoothing Complex S8 Triple-Action Day Defence serum and it’s pretty darn similar to the Super Hydrator. (review here)

There you have it, these are the beauty products I’d stockpile just in case they’re discontinued. It seems silly to stockpile beauty products when I already have so many and there’s a mountain of new beauty products in the market to try out but hey, when you find something that really works for you, you hang on to it for dear life. These are definitely the ones I won’t be letting go anytime soon.

What about you? What are the beauty products you’d stockpile? Y’know, just in case?

Hmmm I would stockpile….. Anastasia Brow Wiz, EH Amazing Face, By Terry Cover Expert, Eye of Horus’ mascara. Without these things, I’d have to go around with a bag on my head forever heheheh

HAHAHAHAHA!! Hey, I’m sure you look great without makeup so you definitely wouldn’t need the paper bag. 😉

I tend to stockpile mascaras, Guerlain Meteorites (especially Teint Rose), shower products, scents (I hate it when they discontinue something I love) and tools (like brushes or beauty blenders).

Oooh I do the same for shower scents too. Once, I stockpiled a lot of Crabtree and Evelyn’s La Source shower gels then I realise, yeah they’re not going to discontinue this any time soon so I stopped. 😛

  3. Paris B

I’d do ANR as well but otherwise, I’m not terribly fussed if something disappears because I know I”ll just find another haha!

Yeah the ANR is definitely worth stocking up on. The rest, hello, time to shop! 😛

Haha, my list is in my link below, lol! We don’t have any dupes, but I see the Redermic R from Vichy on your list. I’ve gotta give that one another try. I once stockpiled a cream eyeshadow from Urban Decay that was discontinued that I used to love, but I “moved on” and ended up not using them but can’t bear to throw them out 😉

Hahaha whaddyaknow, you blogged about it too! That Hada Labo Tokyo products must be different from the Hada Labo I’ve seen in Asia. I’ve actually never seen those before!

Oh yeah I know what you mean! I did the same too! Stocked up on a cream shadow by Benefit but ended up never using it ‘cos I fell out of love with it. 😛

I mostly buy from indie mineral makeup internet companies, so I stockpile in case these companies ever go out of business! The indie company that makes my HG foundation just…disappeared recently, but I’ve got enough to last me another couple of years.

Oooh those, you’ll definitely need to stockpile since they’re really limited edition! 🙂

Great list! I’d stockpile Too Faced Shadow Insurance, Paula’s Choice Regenerist serum, and Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer. It took me so long to find my HG concealer, and I so don’t feel like starting the search again lol.

Till now, I haven’t found a HG concealer yet. I just put the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in my shopping list. I’m definitely going to check it out now!

  7. Jade

Yikes I agree about the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation, that’s my HG too, just thinking about it being ever discontinued gives me palpitations 0_o

    1. Tine

That’s what I thought too! Which was why when I heard the rumours about it being discontinued, I had to check with the PR immediately. Thankfully, they’re still stocked here. Phew!

  8. plue

woman where’s the MRC! LOL i’d be happy to stockpile MRC and ANR because they both work so damn well together. And also Clinique’s even better brightening serum!! oh and also Kiehl’s silk groom hair serum and Lux hair shampoo + treatment/ mask + conditioner.

These items I have bought quite a bit of backups, can’t imagine if one day they just disappear >.<

Haha I don’t love the MRC as much as I do the ANR so I’m okay letting that one go. 😛

  9. camila

I would probably stockpile on eyeshadows too. but it doesn’t matter that make up expires, as long as it’s not exposed to air, so don’t worry and stockpile as much as you want

    1. Tine

That’s true, those can last quite a while. 🙂

The problem with stock piling is that when you *do* run out you totally missed that they discontinued that item, so you didn’t get to stock pile more 🙁 I speak from experience – bye bye total and utter HG eyeshadow ‘Purity’ by Bare minerals (eons ago); toodle pip blistex rubber tipped scrubby lip balm; ta-ra Russian to a Par-t OPI nail varnish; farewell The Body Shop lemongrass foot powder…sob sob….tchuss The Body Shop spiced Pumpkin shower gel; au revoir Oringal Source orange shower gel; Aussie Hair Care range – how I ironically miss you being back in the UK but NOT in Australia…..sniffle….

Now I stock pile more to do with the fact that shipping is so high in Oz, so it just makes more sense to pay the one postage every now and then rather than every month. Amongst them are Paula’s Choice Anti-redness exfoliate (acne stuff) and the clear range topical cream to try to reduce the blighters; Smashbox eyebrow tech to go pencils; Maybelline Gel eyeliner pots from the UK (totally different formation to the Australian version, and SO MUCH BETTER); MAC Russian Red lip stick (just because I lose them and find then them again all the time….); Philosophy body creams (as I find them on sale but then can’t find them anywhere for ages). That’s the majority I guess….but I do need to stock up on a few bits and bobs now…you’ve just reminded me! lol

    1. Tine

Hahah wow that’s a lot to stockpile! It’s so weird, isn’t it that the Aussie haircare range is not even available here?? I saw heaps of it in the UK but here, nope. I’ve come to do the same as well; if a particular product works well, the next time I repurchase, I’ll buy more than one just to save on shipping.

I would stockpile ANR II (which I just bought during the recent Sephora sales in Malaysia), the same B.Liv serum you are using, Origins Make A Difference Rejuvenation Treatment moisturiser (which I am planning to buy more soon because prices are going up next year due to GST), Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser 🙂 and Hydraluron.

This is a good post and a nice reminder on what we need to stock up just in case 🙂

    1. Tine

Hahaha okay, fingers crossed, I don’t think any of these will be discontinued any time soon. Fingers crossed. 😛

How’s that Origins moisturiser you mentioned? I keep hearing a lot about the Make A Difference range but haven’t tried any. Have only tried the GinZing range from Origins so far.

      1. Victoria

I love this Origins moisturiser and plan to stock it up because I heard prices will go up next year due to GST. It is also Paris B’s favourite. It is a light, gel-like moisturiser that dries very fast and suitable for our hot weather here.

        1. Tine

This sounds fab for the upcoming summer! Okay I’ll check it out asap! 😀
