Every now and then, I love to splurge and indulge in a luxury lippie. Chanel, Dior and even Tom Ford lipsticks are lovely, but they’re not usually my first choice of brand to go to if I’m looking for an indulgent lipstick. It’s YSL.
I adore the Rouge Volupte Shine lipsticks and I thought I’d share one of my favourite shades with you today, and that’s the one in #19 Fuchsia in Rage. Lisa Eldridge raved about this in one of her videos ages ago (I can’t even remember which one it was now) and when I saw her apply it on her lips, I knew I had to have it. When I was given a MYER gift voucher for my birthday, I knew exactly what I wanted and that was the #19.
Oh what a beauty this lipstick is. It’s a gorgeous fuchsia and at some angles, it’s almost purple. If you want a strong pop of fuchsia on the lips, then a couple of layers on the lips will do the trick. However, if you want something like and even work-friendly, a layer and a quick blot of the lips is sufficient for a lovely shade of pink.
It’s creamy, smells lovely and an all-round beautiful lipstick. Packaging alone is enough to sit pretty on the vanity and even in the makeup bag let alone the creamy and smooth texture of the lipstick. It’s not as drying as Chanel’s Rouge Coco Shines, creamier than Dior’s Addict lipsticks and not as strong in colour as Tom Ford’s. Like I said, if you’re looking to splurge on your very first high-end lipstick, I can’t recommend the YSL Rouge Volupte Shines enough.
Each YSL Rouge Volupte Shine lipstick retails at AU$55.00 and is available at MYER and David Jones.
Oooh, this is gorgeous! I have only one Rouge Volupte Shine in 18 Prune in Fire and it is also a fuchsia but not quite a purple as yours. You make me want this too. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for my wallet), YSL cosmetics is not available here so I can only splurge when I travel.
