Estée Lauder’s eyeshadows are seriously improving by the day. Years ago, I can say quite honestly that their eyeshadow palettes are rubbish. The colour payoff was awful, the eyeshadows gritty and the lasting power …uh, what lasting power? Thankfully, the formula has changed dramatically over the years and it’s so much better now.
Recently, I had the opportunity to try out the Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Eyeshadow 5-Colour Palette in Rebel Metal. I love neutral eyeshadows; browns, coppers and golds are right up my alley. What can I say, I’m boring like that and I love it!
This eyeshadow quint palette is absolutely gorgeous. The colours are vibrant and are highly pigmented. The powder is ultra-fine, buttery smooth and the colours intense. I wear them over eyeshadow primer and the eyeshadows pop. What I love most about them is that they’re not frosty, glittery and crazy sparkly.
Even though the eyeshadow palette only has 5 colours, it reminds me a lot of Urban Decay’s NAKED 1 palette. The shades are warm-toned with lots of gold shimmer. Even the lasting power is good. It may not last as long as my favourite Urban Decay palette but it’s certainly a lot better than many high-end eyeshadows.
At AU$90.00 a palette, it’s certainly not a cheap one. It’s what I’d call a luxury splurge. However, if I were to compare this to Chanel or Tom Ford’s eyeshadow quads, I’d choose this over them. I find the quality of this Estée Lauder palette superior to them, especially Tom Ford’s.
If you love warm, earthy gold tones, I highly recommend you checking this out. Tom Ford’s eyeshadow palettes may look fancier but if you’re to blow that amount of money on an eyeshadow palette, then I’d say go for this higher quality one instead.
What I like about it: Buttery smooth, highly pigmented and great quality eyeshadows. Personally, I prefer it to Chanel and Tom Ford’s quad eyeshadows.
What I do not like about it: Pricey.
Are you a fan of warm-toned neutral eyeshadows too? Which one’s your favourite?

Yea, EL’s formula in the olden days is completely rubbish. Reminds me of what we get from Tom Ford’s. I don’t get when people rave on and on and on about how fantastic the eyeshadows are. I mean, the colours are lovely, formula, yes, but they’re terrible when it comes to long-lasting. It almost does not exist. I’m keen to check this out. Neutral colours are lovely and idiot-proof for harried mornings. Who can be bothered with spending 20mins just on makeup when there are better things to do? e.g. extra 20mins under the doona 😛
I’m very impressed with this Estee Lauder eyeshadow palette. It’s incredibly similar to Urban Decay’s NAKED palette, which I’m already a huge fan of. If one is to splurge on a luxe palette, I’d say go for this one. The ones from Tom Ford are really not good, I’m afraid. ‘Tis a pity for something so expensive.
These shades look great on you! But I already have something similar in my stash, so I’ll pass.

Haha yeah it’s definitely not an uncommon colour combo. 🙂
I adore browns and find myself purchasing one too many palettes in this shade range 🙂
I did think this palette was similar to Naked 1, so I’d probably pass on this color, but I’m always looking for lovely purple shades (the envious orchid looks quite promising).

I’d recommend checking out the other colour combos, they’re gorgeous! 😀
And erm, me too. Keep buying the same ol’ neutral colours too! 😛
