Happy hump day and the second day of spring, folks! At least, for all you readers living in the Southern Hemisphere. The first day of spring was absolutely horrid in Melbourne. It was cold, wet and mighty dreary. Ironically, the last day of winter was warm and sunny!
Now that we’re entered spring mode (come join us too, all you readers who aren’t heading to Spring), it’s time to do some spring-cleaning. I don’t just mean spring-clean your closet; your blog needs it too. Clear out any old plugins you don’t need. Delete your unused themes. Maybe refresh your blog with a new splash of colour and/or design.
One of the ways to refresh your blog is to change your tagline. What’s a tagline, I hear you ask? It’s that sentence that follow the name of your blog. It can be your motto, your ethos, your slogan. It can be anything!
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but Beautyholics Anonymous sneakily changed her tagline a couple of weeks ago. For the past 5 years, when I switched from Blogger to WordPress, I’ve always used the same tagline “Beauty comes in all sizes, not just size 2“. It’s a good tagline, which was why I never thought to change it until a few weeks ago.
It was time to refresh the blog and give it a new tagline. I wasn’t changing my brand, but the tagline should reflect what Beautyholics Anonymous really is about. Whenever you leave comments about buying something that I’ve reviewed (thank you!), it makes me feel really good because it makes me some sort of an influencer and definitely an enabler.
As Beautyholics Anonymous is a place for beauty addicts such as yourselves (don’t deny it, you know you are! ๐ ), it’s only right that I change the tagline to reflect it as much. So ladies and gentlemen, I officially present to you our new tagline.
I changed my business cards to reflect the new tagline and whenever I gave my card to people, they often chuckled when they see the name of my blog and the tagline. Any sort of response is a good response and this way, I hope they remember my blog and who I am. I’m that blogger who enables your beauty addiction. ๐
If you haven’t changed your tagline in a while, perhaps it’s time to consider a new one. We grow as bloggers and many a time, our life experiences and beliefs change, and that is often reflected in our blogs. A new tagline to reflect the changes is a good way to refresh our blogs and the direction we want it to go.
If you don’t have a tagline for your blog, do consider having one. What’s your blog about? What are YOU about? It can be funny, witty, serious, contemplative … heck, it can even be a quote you love. It’s also a good way for people to know what your blog is about at first glance since your header is usually the first thing they see when they visit your website for the first time. For me, well, it’s easy to see that I’m pretty much a beauty addict and enabler. Well, I really do try my best. ๐
Have a think about it and good luck!
I love the new tag line and had actually noticed it :-). BTW I think it sums up Beautyholics Anonymous perfectly.
I have recently gone through the process of choosing a tag line. It is not as easy as I thought but it is great when you hit on the right one.
Seduced by Beauty has always felt like it wants to spread its wings as I am ‘seduced by the beauty everywhere’, not just with the latest lipstick or blush.
So, when I refreshed the blog about a month ago I revealed Seduced by Beauty – more than skin deep. I feel that it gives me scope to explore the other areas that interest me and I am loving it. I feel more focused now.

Thanks Kate!
I love your new tag line. It allows you to step out of beauty and write about other things you love to. That’s fantastic. ๐ x
I noticed! I was just thinking, Hmm… that’s new cos I noticed the change in font first ๐ I used to have a tagline “No ugly women, only lazy ones” but when I redesigned, I dropped it altogether on the website, but there’s a hidden tagline that says “Not just another beauty blog” which is also what’s stated on my cards, because that’s what I want to be – not just another beauty blog! ๐

YEah I noticed you dropped the quote when you changed to the black and white design. I saw the “not just another beauty blog” tagline too. You’re definitely not another beauty blog. You should put “I’m THE beauty blog”. LOL! ๐
Love the new tagline and its SO true lol – my husband says you are one of his least favorite people I’m afraid, as I really take note of your reviews more than anywhere else I think, so you prompt more purchases than anyone else! ๐ฎ I’m sure he would love you if he met you, or he realized *just how important* mascara can be! lol
Gosh I don’t know if we have a tag..(skips off to check…)OK -I lied – Sharkaroo is “Fifty shades of rufous: an Australian travel blog, camping and photographing down under” That’s a bit of an in-joke for me and hubby (Rufous was a particularly annoying and amusing small creature at a camp site that has become legend on our travels and short hand for annoying small creature who pesters you for food to the exclusion of all else), and references the many different shades of brown/red that the Australian outback has.
Send Us Down Under has the tag – “a new life on the other side of the planet”, which is exactly what it is all about – I can’t believe how much our lives have changed, so pretty descriptive lol
Now, just need to do more content on those two sites and stop getting distracted by buying lovely make up and stuff because you said it was good. Ahem! ๐

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Many years ago, a friend’s boyfriend (now husband) once told my ex-boyfriend to tell me to stay away from his girlfriend because she was buying so much beauty stuff because of me! I took it as a compliment and I’ll take your husband’s opinion as a compliment too! *take a bow*
LOL I love it! Fifty shades of Rufous, how awesome is that?? ๐
I noticed the change and I had to have a smile to myself, you definitely feed my beauty addiction! ๐ I don’t really have an official tag line yet, trying to think of something snappy, still pondering!
Kekekeke thank you thank you! ๐
Hmm maybe something jazzy and Frenchy to complement “maquillage”. It’ll be very you. ๐
Hi Tine, I did notice your tagline changed – loving it ๐ I like the old one too but I know what you mean when you feel like you need to refresh your blog. I really love the way you put together the photo above with the fonts. Do you have any blogs/websites that you usually go to for inspiration on laying out photos/fonts?

Thanks lovely! Ahh I used Canva (canva.com) for the photo with the fonts. It’s like the hottest new tool these days. They have ready-made templates with all these gorgeous fonts and layouts for you to use but you can DIY too if you want. It’s free to use, play with, etc but if you want to publish it on your website as an image or a PDF, it costs $1 for the licensing of the image, tools, etc. A pretty sweet deal if you ask me. ๐
Cool – I’ll go check if out! You are always full if good ideas ๐
I did notice the change because it’s in a different font – see, your brand so unforgettable! ๐
I’ve been trying to figure out a tag line since I re-launched the blog. I’m probably too aggressive and it’s quite impossible to fit everything I want in a few words. Still brainstorming…

Awww thanks heaps Coco, so glad to know! ๐
Have fun brainstorming! Maybe play around with your blog name Pretty Mom or may say something about the lips (since you post a lot of photos of your gorgeous lips on Instagram and the blog). Off the top of my head, and I know this is probably corny as hell but I like it, “Pretty Mom. These Lips Don’t Lie”. ๐
I was wondering why you had changed your tag line. I love the new one, it’s so true. You’re such an enabler! ๐
I’ve been trying to come up with a tag line for my blog for ages, but I can’t think of nothing witty or interesting. I guess the name of the blog just says it all. Mmm maybe I should give it another try.

Hehehe I aim to please. ๐ Thanks G!
Sometimes, the blog name is enough. Don’t need to fancy, witty taglines if the blog name is sufficient. ๐
What a great idea Tine! I really need to think of one for LiLT!
Will be my homework this week!

I did not notice that you changed your tag line until I read this post today but I love the new one. Really describes you and your blog perfectly ๐
Aww thanks V! ๐
