Why have I not seen nor try these out before?!
If you have access to a MUJI store near you, you have to check out their mini cotton buds. They’re the same length as any normal cotton buds (or cotton tips as some of you may call it) but they’re about half the width of a normal cotton bud.
Straight up, they’re pretty bloody awesome. They look like fat toothpicks with small, compact bits of cotton at the ends but they’re so useful especially in fixing makeup mistakes. Here are a few things these mini cotton buds can do for you.
1. Fix any lipstick or lip liner mistakes. Regular cotton buds might accidentally wipe off foundation near the lip line but with the mini cotton buds, they don’t affect the foundation and because the tip is fine, you’ll have better precision on the lip line.
2. Fix smudged nail polish. I encounter slipping of the nail polish brush a lot when I paint my nails, especially when I clip them short. The brush goes over the end of the nails and end up smudging the skin. If you’re not careful when using regular cotton buds to clean up the mess on the skin, you can accidentally smudge your perfectly-applied nail polish. Goodness knows how many times this has happened when my cotton bud slips and slides on my just-applied nail polish. I don’t have to worry about that happening with the mini cotton buds.
3. Fix eyeliner mistakes, especially liquid eyeliners. Sometimes when I make the mistake with liquid eyeliner, I just use a mini cotton bud to fix it. As the tip is so small, I don’t have to worry about smudging my foundation or even my eyeshadow.
4. Fix smudged mascara. When I have smudged mascara on my undereye area or eyelids, the mini cotton bud is useful in just lifting the mascara without smudging my makeup.
5. Remember when I talked about cleaning out eye booger? This is now much easier with the mini cotton buds.
There are so much more you can do with the mini cotton buds but I’ll just leave it at five for now. However, I don’t recommend using mini cotton buds to clean out your ears. If you really have to give your ears a bit of a clean, carefully use a regular cotton bud instead. The mini ones can be quite sharp and it can damage your eardrums if you’re not careful.
Do check out mini cotton buds if you can. It doesn’t have to be from MUJI either; if you happen to stumble upon any at a pharmacy or even DAISO (I don’t know if the latter sells them but they do sell so many Japanese things that you may be able to find mini cotton buds there too), I highly recommend that you get some back to try out. If possible, get the ones from MUJI as the cotton bits are very compact. I don’t like stringy cotton buds that have bits of fluff sticking out.
Have fun with the mini cotton buds!
What a great find! I always have q-tips in my makeup bag and purse. I use them to clean up mascara and eye liner.

I love the Dual Cosmetic Tips by Swisspers, I HAVE to have them on hand when I’m doing my makeup, because I’ll inevitably dab mascara somewhere it shouldn’t be, draw a wonky line with my lip liner, so on so forth… Will have to swing past Muji to check these ones out when I run out of the Swisspers 🙂

Oooh are those the ones that kinda look like nipples? 😛 Man, those crack me up! 😛
I have been trying to stock up the cotton pad form Muji but every time i went there, it was sold out !!!!! Will try out this mini cotton buds which i have been looking for!
I love Muji cotton pads, especially the big ones. They are fantastic for makeup removal! 😀
These look awesome! I usually wrap a tiny bit of cotton wool around a toothpick to clean up teensy nail polish smudges….but these would be much better!
I used to do exactly that too! But when I tried these out, it was like an a-ha moment. 😛
I’ve seen these small cotton buds around but for some reason I never tried them and always stuck with the original. These sound even better. Next time, I will stock up!

Try out the mini ones! You’ll be thinking, damn why didn’t I try them earlier, like I did. 😛
Mini cotton buds!? Amaze. Firmly on the lookout! Great find Tine! #WingedEyelinerIWillMasterYou!
If you’re at Muji, check out the large cotton pads too. Those are fab!
OMG i must get some of these! I often struggle with painting my nails with my left hand, so these babies would definitely help clean up any slip ups!!!!
Thanks Tine!

MUJI. Emporium. STAT!
I love Muji facial cotton pads and I never use any other brands except perhaps from Body Shop and only when they are on sale. I have found mini cotton buds from the Guardian pharmacy in KL. I think these cotton buds are meant for cleaning wax from children’s ears hence they are labelled as kids cotton buds 🙂
Oh I remember the cotton pads from The Body Shop! I used to love those but man, they were expensive! I now stick to the MUJI or Priceline ones as they’re much cheaper.
Hi. I love these but they are quite difficult to find if you don’t have a store nearby. Can you recommend some similiar ones? I love the fine tips as I use them to remove any excess eyeliner or when my mascara has gone on a bit wrong!!
Thanks.
BTW I am in Spain.
