Man, I have a strong feeling that the YSL Glossy Stain I have (in No 15 Rose Vinyl) is a dud because the consistency and texture of this Glossy Stain is so different in comparison. The original one that I have is thick and gloopy, which made me favour the popular dupe, L’Oreal’s Shine Caresse lipglosses. Many preferred the Glossy Stain whereas I thought the Shine Caresses were much better.
However, when I tried this on, it blew my mind. This was smooth and not at all gloopy. In fact, it applied just as easy as the Shine Caresses; it goes on like water but quickly dries to a creamy texture and high-gloss shine. The Rouge Laque is a gorgeous bright red lip lacquer with cool undertones. It’s glossy but not at all sticky. I don’t have a problem wearing this on windy days because this doesn’t mess up my hair.
Staying power is moderate with the Rouge Laque. It doesn’t lasts up to half the day before reapplication is required. However, when most of it is gone, a cherry stain is left behind on the lips and looks quite pretty.
I’m definitely keen on checking out other Glossy Stains now that I’m almost convinced that first Glossy Stain I have must have come from a dodgy batch or something because that one really wasn’t nice at all. This one, on the other hand, is exactly what I expected all the Glossy Stains to be and more.
To celebrate 50 years of beauty, YSL are launching a limited edition gold packaging of this beautiful Rouge Laque. The price is still the same (RRP AU$50.00) but it comes in a chic gold tube rather than the standard black. This will be available at all YSL counters from 1 September so mark your calendar, ladies!
If you’re a fan of YSL lippies and/or are looking to splurge on a luxe lippie come pay day, do check this out. The red really is quite stunning.
Are you a fan of the YSL Glossy Stains? What’s your favourite shade? Yours should silky smooth too, right?

Love the colour, glad they didn’t jack the price up despite the 50th anniversary yada-yada-yada but $50 for this as opposed to $34 in the US? *insert whinge-whinge-whine-whine-wah-wah-wah cries here*
Sigh I know right? I’ll whinge along with you. Grrr!!
Hi Tine,
Love the gold packaging. YSL knows how to package their products that’s for sure. I don’t think my balls are big enough to wear this colour. It does look nice on Cara Delevingne and you but I don’t think I will wear it enough times to buy it 🙂
