Pump Up The Jam With Maybelline’s SuperStay Better Skin Flawless Finish Foundation

Maybelline's SuperStay Better Skin Flawless Finish Foundation

Remember Revlon’s Nearly Naked foundation? The one I liked for natural, “my skin but better” days? Also the one which packaging I absolutely cannot stand? Guess what? I found a dupe for the foundation and it comes in a pump. A glorious pump!

Say hello to a recent delightful discovery of mine. It’s Maybelline’s SuperStay Better Skin Flawless Finish Foundation.

I cannot believe that I’ve come to a point where I’m singing praises about a product mainly because it comes in a pump. Really, what has the beauty blogging world come to, eh? See, beauty brands, you give us good foundations that come in a pump and we will love them and love you. Give us good foundations with shitty packaging and you’ll find us walking away, no matter how great the foundations are.

Maybelline's SuperStay Better Skin Flawless Finish Foundation

Description:
The lightweight, long-wear liquid foundation is infused with Actyl-C, an innovative vitamin-C derivative that helps promote skin regeneration, evens discolouration and dull areas for a fresh, healthy and radiant glow. When combined with an energising complex of vitamin B5 + septonic M3, magnesium, zinc and copper, Maybelline NY’s SuperStay Better Skin Foundation actively works to hydrate, plump and re-energise skin to be ready for a better day ahead. Thanks to the lightweight SPF 14 formula with air cushioned pigments, Maybelline NY’s SuperStay Better Skin’s liquid foundation provides full and comfortable coverage for up to 11 hours!

In terms of the foundation, the Better Skin is good. It’s a lightweight and oil-free foundation that goes on the skin smoothly and blends very well. The shade I’m in is #021 Nude that has cool undertones. The coverage is buildable to at most a medium. It doesn’t fully conceal all of the redness around my nose or all of the blemishes on my skin. In the Before and After photo, you’ll notice that my skin had breakouts around my nose and there was also a pimple right above my cupid’s bow. The foundation concealed the redness on my cheeks and that small spot above my lips but did not fully cover the blemishes around my nose.

Having said that, when I do have good skin, this does a decent job in not just giving me even skin tone but made it look better. It leaves a semi-matte to a satin finish on my skin. In terms of longevity, this lasted better than Revlon’s Nearly Naked foundation. Most of this was still on my face after 8-10 hours of wear.

Again, props to Maybelline for the easy-to-use pump. A lot of people might think it’s not a big deal but for me, when I don’t have to deal with silly bottles with big, easy-to-spill openings especially when I’m rushed for time, it is a very big deal. I’m sure you know what I mean, right?

Maybelline's SuperStay Better Skin Flawless Finish Foundation

Maybelline’s SuperStay Better Skin Flawless Finish Foundation comes in 8 shades, retails at AU$21.95 for 30ml and is available at leading supermarkets and pharmacies nationwide. Personally, it’s one of the best foundations Maybelline has and I’m more than happy to recommend it to anyone with oily to combination skin like I have.

What I like about it: Gives a lovely, natural finish. Doesn’t look overly matte on the skin and doesn’t exacerbate fine lines. Good lasting power.

What I do not like about it: Only max a medium coverage. Doesn’t fully conceal blemishes (best to use concealer for that).

Have you tried this foundation by Maybelline? Did it work for you? Can I get a whoop whoop for foundations with pumps?

Thanks for the review Tine! I was looking at this when it was on sale at Priceline but for some reason thought it was for more normal dry skins. Might have to take another look. Totally agree foundations with no pumps should be banned 🙂

Did you check them out when Priceline had 50% off all Maybelline products? What a steal it was!

Definitely a whoop whoop for foundations with pumps! The main reason I have never tried the famous Estee Lauder Doublewear is that you have to pour it out. No thanks! Wasteful!

Yeah I know what you mean. I really don’t like foundations that come in those sort of bottles. Not good for an accident-prone person like me. >.<

Unfortunately they forgot us pale babes with this one. So I just use the pump from another bottle (cleaned and dried obviously) in my darling Revlon Nearly Nude. Now my acne is calming down after too many months of flaring up, and I can wear foundation again, its back to Revlon’s covering but natural caresses and not being orange – hurrah! 😀

You know, that’s what I’m seeing in foundations from a lot of brands these days. A lot of them are creating more shades to accommodate darker skin tones but they forget about the ones who are very fair. 🙁

      Anyway, hurrah to calm skin!

Yah for clearer calmer skin, unfortunately one of the key factors in this I think has been the couple of samples of Eve Lom Moisture Mask that I was stashing – omg how good? Unfortunately OMG how expensive? OK, not as bad as it could be but I *hate* spending that much each month on one item, and it would be that often I know, given how often I have to replace everything else – its slightly ridiculous as it at the moment. Sob. Maybe the Eve Lom fairy will visit me one day lol

Eve Lom is really expensive. Many times I had to wonder … why?? Ah well as long as it works on the skin. But man, having to pay for one each month … yikes!
