Do you know that up until a couple of months ago, I’ve never watched a single Korean TV drama? Even though my parents are huge fans of Korean drama, I was never interested in any of them, not a single bit. Mum and Dad tried to convince me to watch a few shows they thought were really good but I thought, nope, not doing it, not interested.
That was until 2 months ago when after giving in to peer pressure (tsk tsk, really, at my age, I’m still succumbing to peer pressure. What nonsense is this?!), I watched the highly popular Korean drama, My Love From The Star (also known as He/You Who Came From The Stars).
Oh. My. Gawd.
There was so much laughter yet so much tears. Heart was melted. Gut was wrenched. Tears were cried by the buckets. I couldn’t listen to any of the songs in the soundtrack without tearing up. That was how affected I was by the show.
And I absolutely loved it!
Have no idea if she’s wearing the lipstick in any of these photos but ain’t she pretty? 😛
But I’m not here to talk about my insane addiction to the show (which I’ve now watched twice, by the way. All 21 episodes of it.). I’m here to talk about the lipstick that got every fan of the show crazy about. Apparently the YSL Rouge Pur Couture in #52 was worn by the actress Jun Ji-hyun who plays Cheon Song Yi in the show. This lipstick is highly coveted and is sold out almost everywhere in the world. It’s so popular; even my Dad knew about “that YSL lipstick” before I even told him I had watched the show. And I had absolutely no clue!
You won’t be able to find this lipstick in Australia. It’s not because they don’t sell it, it’s because it’s always sold out. It’s sold out in the US (I had my parents check for me when they were there on holiday). It’s unavailable in Asia. So how did I get my hands on it?
Ahh, here’s when my hero Ling came to the rescue. She actually found this in the UK when she was there on holiday recently and helped me get one. The #52 is a beautiful cherry pink with cool undertones. It leaves a satin finish on the lips but can be a bit drying so a lipbalm prior to lipstick application is a must. The pigments are strong in this one and will stain the lips even after wiping the lippie off with a tissue.
Look, I’m sure there are dupes for this. I must be out of my mind to splash £25.00 on one lipstick but hey, for someone who’s unusually hooked on a show she never thought she’d like, let alone love, it was worth it. Call me crazy but I feel a bit like Cheon Song Yi every time I put it on. Waiting for her Do Min Joon. 😛
Now, enough about the lipstick. If you’ve watched and enjoy the show, let me know so that I can debrief with you. I can’t get enough! 😉
PS: Apparently the show’s ruining lives in China. Yikes!
That’s such a pretty colour for a lipstick! I don’t play well with YSL lipsticks (too scented & too drying) but I’ll have to find something similar in that pretty coral-pink shade. It reminds me of a Dior Fluid Stick but I don’t like the FS bah! Picky picky! As for Korean dramas, I don’t watch them. No patience and ok, don’t anyone shoot me, I find them terribly boring and draggy and everyone looks the same *runs away from rotten tomatoes*

Me too! That’s the reason I never watched a single Korean drama until now. Everyone looks the same, all very cry-cry. I’m surprised I liked this one so much. That lipstick is selling well over $100 on eBay, that’s how popular it is! *gasp*
What do you mean they all look the same? You people are a just flat out ugly don’t be jealous Koreans are pretty.
Please note that the comment never said that Koreans aren’t pretty.
Try Kevyn Aucoin, he has a very similar color but the exact shade name escapes me at the moment.
Thanks for the tip Laura!
I have never seen Korean dramas but I will ask my friend William who went to college in Korea & came back w a love of all things skincare. That’s so funny that your dad knew about the YSL lipstick. Too funny! Anyway, the actress is gorgeous & so is the swatch. I think the shade is lovely on you but I would give it another swipe – I expected more color payoff on your lips (hope I’m not being presumptuous) 😉

Haha I blotted the colour on my lips because it look better blotted out. The colour packs a punch, this one. Very bright on the lips! This lipstick is so unattainable that it’s selling for well over $100 on eBay. Crazy!
It is such a pretty color!

It surely is! 🙂
I don’t watch Korean dramas because I never had the time for any dramas yet alone Korean ones but this actress is pretty. LOL. Cannot believe this lipstick sells out everywhere. Must be some kind of record for a lipstick. Hahaha.
This lippie is selling on eBay at well over $100 each. That’s how crazy it’s become!
