Has it been a month already? How is it that February is over? Oh right, it only has 28 days. Damn.
Another month means another hit and miss list for February. These are the products Iāve recently discovered or oldies Iāve rediscovered that I like or came to dislike. Itās not a lot but there are some goodies in there. Maybe thereās something in there youāve tried too?
All right, letās get started with this monthās hits and misses!
The Hit List
Natralus Paw Paw Ointment
This is a rediscovery for me. I stopped using it in cold weather because itās very difficult to squeeze out of the tube when itās cold because the ointment hardens. When I try to squeeze the tube when the ointment is hard, Iām always half expecting the tube to explode. Now that itās summer, the ointment has softened significantly and itās so easy to dispense. I apply it on my lips every night before bed and wake up to plump, soft lips in the morning. Bye bye chapped lips!
Palmerās Cocoa Butter Body Wash*
I donāt normally like the scent of cocoa butter in, well, anything so I was quite skeptical about using this one. Good to know that it smells more nutty than cocoa-buttery, which is more than bearable for me. Plus it feels good on the skin and itās affordable so itās big plusses for me. Definitely worth a repurchase or three.
Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin 2 Shampoo*
This was love at first wash. Itās a shampoo that feels like one of those 2-in-1 conditioning shampoo things. Makes my dry hair feel amazing and clean without stripping it off its moisture. Most importantly, it smells OH SO GOOD. Iām definitely getting another bottle of this once itās finished.
Jordana 12 Hour Made to Last Liquid Eyeliner Pencil
I bought this from Crush Cosmetics a few weeks ago and itās a pretty damn good eyeliner. It goes on the lids very smoothly without dragging and the best part of all, it stays on for ages without a single smudge. I havenāt used Jordana makeup in years but now, Iām so ready to give them a try again.
The Miss List
Avene Micellar Lotion
This is one of āem popular micellar waters and is often compared to Biodermaās Crealine H20. In terms of makeup removal, it does exactly the same job. The problem I have with it is that 1) it stings my eyes and 2) I canāt stand the scent. Itās a typical Avene scent (I donāt know how to describe it but almost every Avene product has the same fragrance), which Iām usually okay with but in the Micellar Lotion, itās like a double whammy of Avene. Donāt like it at all. Iāve resorted to only using this to remove makeup swatches during product photography.
Pears Transparent Soap
I love Pearsā handwash. Love it. I also really like the shower gel. So when I saw the transparent bar soap on sale at Aldi, I thought hey, for $1.70, why not? Unfortunately, itās nowhere near the quality of the shower gel or handwash. The soap is terribly drying leaves the skin feeling tight after every shower. The shower gel and handwash are moisturising on the skin but the soap isnāt. I canāt even use this on my makeup brushes.
What are your hits and misses for February? Is there anything I should try out or stay away from?

Such an interesting list! Even though I have color treated hair, I love the Kerastase Balm Satin. The scent is fantastic, and it doesnāt leave my hair feeling dirty like the pink Kerastase for color treated hair. A keeper, for sure. I donāt know whether weāve got that Paw Paw lip balm in the US, but Iām gonna google it! I didnāt realize that Jordana was an international brand. Milani makes it so Iām not surprised itās a good one. Reading your review of Pearās soap brought me for a stroll down memory lane. I used to use it in college and havenāt used it since. It had a very particular scent, not bad, not really good but unique to Pearās. Back then my skin wasnāt so dry so I guess Iāll leave it a memory. Speaking of oldies but goodies, I just revisited a brand I used to use and I still like it for occasional use: DermaFreeze365 Instant AA Eye Cream for my droopy upper eyelids ā for special occasions lol.

We don;t have DermaFreeze365 here I think. I must check! They donāt sell Jordana and Milani in stores here but I can get them in Aussie online stores instead. Prices are definitely higher than US retail but itās still cheaper than a lot of drugstore brands here.
The Jordana liquid eyeliner pencil looks really interesting! Do you use it on your waterline? Or as a replacement for the liquid liners? Based on the reviews Iāve read, the Avene micellar solution seems to be a thumbs down for most peopleā¦What a waste

By the way, we tagged you to do the Lipstick tag! Would love to hear your responses to the questions

Yep I do use it on the waterline and also use it as a regular eyeliner. It doesnāt replace liquid eyeliners; it doesnāt have that slick, glossy look.
Oooh thanks for the tag! Iāll check it out
x
I nearly picked up that pears soap, too! I thought Itād be great to have on hand. Obviously not. Sigh.

Nah, donāt waste your money, even if itās not a lot of money. Drying stuff, awful on the skin.
I really like your hits and misses posts because you include such interesting picks
Hope that this will be a long-standing series. I was curious about the Avene micellar water but since it stings the eyes Iāll prob not try it at all unless I can get it for cheap. I use a separate eyemakeup remover if I use micellar water so I donāt mind it if itās cheaper hahaā¦.If I pay top dollar for a cleansing product, e.g. shu uemura cleansing oil ā it better remove ALL my makeup. Btw, Iām surprised that Jordana has such a good eyeliner pencil. I once tried their liquid eyeliner ā it was so gross; it was literally like a black magic pen which pulled on my eyelids. Super duper cheap ass!! LOL!

Thanks, so glad you enjoy āem.
I had low hopes for the Jordana pencil, to be honest. Iāve tried a couple of their makeup a long time ago and they were not good. I only got this because it was recommended by Emily from The Beauty Broadcast (blog and YouTube). When I tried it out, mmm not bad. After having it on for many hours, that āmmm not badā became āokay this is pretty damn goodā.
Yeah, I didnāt like the Avene micellar water. I use it to remove lip makeup (other than arm swatches) but even then, the taste is not nice.
