Aldi. Seriously, what am I to do without you? You save me heaps of money from not getting the Nespresso coffee machine and getting your much cheaper version (coffee’s still good!), you save me at least 30% off my usual grocery bill and you showed me you do good blushers for under a tenner. What about your other beauty items, Aldi? Think you can keep up at it?
I stumbled across their Bronzing Pearls when I was doing my usual grocery run. Now you know I’m not that into bronzing but it was FIVE DOLLARS and I just couldn’t miss out on a bargain. So into the shopping basket it went along with my bok choy and eggs.
So, how did the Bronzing Pearls do? Is it as good as the blushers?
Now you have to remember (no, make that I have to remember) that this cannot be compared to the Guerlain Meteorites. Apples and oranges, baby. No, think gold-plated apples and tiny cheapie mandarins. 😛
For a fiver, you get a jar of bronzing balls and a retractable brush, which is actually pretty good for the price because you get 2 items in a box. That’s all I can say about it really. The retractable brush is cheap rubbish BUT don’t throw it away! You can use it to clean brush out the muck from your keyboard. 🙂
Right, onto the bronzing pearls. The jar has a sponge that covers the pearls tightly so that they don’t jiggle about in the jar. The pearls are tiny and are multi-coloured in a gold, rose gold and brown. It’s sort of a mixture of cool and warm tones to create a neutral-but-more-to-the-warm-side tone for the skin. It’s also very shimmery so you have to be careful not to use too much or else you’ll end up with a disco ball for a face. In terms of the texture of the powder, it’s actually pretty fine-milled and doesn’t feel gritty or cheap on the skin at all.
Overall effect on the skin is an understated warm complexion. Don’t expect instant bronzing or a quick tan because the effect is subtle on this one. It’s not supremely pigmented like the Clarins Splendour Summer Bronzing Compact so you don’t have to worry about putting too much and ended up with too-warm-to-almost-baked-brown skin. It’s like subtle rose gold effect on the skin, which is just lovely.
So, a rose gold bronzer for just a fiver? Spot on again, Aldi. Spot on.
Have you seen this at Aldi and tried it out before? What did you think?
I haven’t seen this at my Aldi, but I have been noticing more and more LACURA makeup popping up! I might pick something up next time.
Also, love my coffee machine from there. The coffee is delicious..

How good is the Expressi coffee, right? So cheap too! I know it’s not something coffee connoisseurs would approve of and it’s not going to be cafe quality but it’s more than good enough for me 😀
You really got my attention on the FB newsfeed with this one, even though we don’t have Aldi in the US or Lacura, for that matter. I was all set to love this because of the rose-gold shade. Somehow, I was thinking it would be more like a blush or a shimmer powder, but now I guess I feel better that I can’t buy it. I don’t love bronzer, even if it’s a cheapie rose-gold bronzer, lol!

Hahaha it’s money saved, even though it’s just 5 bucks! It’s a good thing, especially during the holiday season when people spend so much. It’s a good thing 🙂
I have bronzing pearls from the body shop and i like to use them only on my body only cuz its so shimmery 🙂 It is very similar to this one!

I’ve swatched the Body Shop ones and I must I actually prefer this because it’s not as shimmery as the Body Shop’s. And so much cheaper too! 😛
We don’t have Aldi here 🙁 More importantly, we don’t have CostCo here (yet. They have a site. They just won’t blooming build on it!). Sob.
There are two here in Melbourne and I’ve not even been to one. I’ve been to the one in the US and while it’s fascinating to visit, there’s only so much you can do with giant jars of stuff. 😛
Since I’m not a member, I can’t go in or buy anything. Oh wait, I can go in on a visitor’s pass but I can’t buy anything. That’s just ridiculous. On principles, I’m not even going to visit the stores because of that. 😛
