A month or two ago, I was doing my weekly pilgrimage at Priceline when I stumbled upon the Models Prefer shelves. I’ve only ever tried their nail polishes and to be honest, they’re pretty meh. As colourful as their products are, nothing stood out so I was never really tempted to try anything out from their range. That was until I saw the new CC and DD creams.
Now you’ve heard me talk about CC creams and that DD creams were already on the way. Well whaddyaknow, there I was, checking out my first DD cream (or whatever the hell that means :P). I must say, I was curious. Models Prefer called their DD creams “Daily Detox” and I wanted to know what they meant by that.
So for “research”, I thought I’d pick a couple of these CC and DD creams up to give them a go.
Models Prefer CC Unbelievable Colour Correcting CC Cream
Shade: Light (with cool pink undertones). Also available in Light/Medium and Medium.
Texture: Slightly thick, very creamy
Finish: Leaves a semi matte finish on the skin.
Coverage: Medium
Fragrance: Floral scent
Longevity: Lasts pretty much all day with no streaking nor drag marks.
Price: AU$16.99 for 30ml
Models Prefer DD Fresh Face Daily Detox DD Cream
Shade: Light (with neutral undertones). Also available in Medium.
Texture: Light and creamy
Finish: Leaves a semi dewy finish on the skin.
Coverage: Light to medium. Looks better on good skin.
Fragrance: Floral scent, not strong
Longevity: Lasts all day without fading, looks even better as the hours go by.
Price: Au$16.99 for 30ml
Verdict:
Both CC and DD creams state they have SPF protection but there’s no indication of an SPF number anywhere. As always, when possible, apply a separate sunscreen even with these on.
Models Prefer CC Unbelievable Colour Correcting CC Cream
I was surprised to realise how much I really like the CC cream. The coverage is good, skin looks almost flawless yet natural. It’s exactly what I want a foundation/BB cream to be. As for colour-correcting, it reduced the amount of redness around my nose, which is good. I know that green-coloured creams like L’Oreal’s Anti-Redness CC Cream do a better job in counteracting skin redness but I find that this works better as an all-over green just makes my skin look dull and sallow. The texture and results of this CC cream is exactly what I find most Asian BB creams to be. It looks even better on the skin after a couple of hours.

As for the DD cream, I was baffled to understand why it’s called Daily Detox. After using it for a week, I think I know why. It’s lighter than the CC cream and whilst the coverage is not as good as the CC cream, it does even out the skin tone and is lightweight enough to not feel as though I had any base makeup on. With the lack of good (enough) coverage, this looks better on good skin. If you suffer from acne or have severe hyperpigmentation, this is going to do jack for you. It’s what I’d call a weekend BB cream, something you use when you don’t need a lot of coverage.
If you’re stumped on which one to try out, I highly recommend the CC cream. It’s one of the better BB creams out there. Of course, I’ve not tried the BB cream by Models Prefer but hey, if CC is the new BB, then why not just CC it all the way? 😛
Have you tried any of these CC and DD creams from Models Prefer? Or any other sort of CC and/or DD creams? What do you think of these DD creams? Sigh not another one? 😛
I went a little alphabet cream crazy on my recent trip to the USA. Everyone’s bringing one out and there’s just so many to try. Can I justify another?
Of course I can.

Hahaha well done beauty blogger! Of course it’s justified. It’s called “research”. 😉
We don’t have the Models Prefer brand in the US. I’ve more from BB creams to CC. My favorite drugstore CC cream is from Lumene, the Scandinavian brand. I get good coverage, a little better than BB cream, less oiliness/shine, good color match, and a very good price. Haven’t found any DD creams except for DermaDoctor, and I need the color correction more than the detox 😉

Models Prefer is Priceline’s brand (a brand exclusive to Priceline pharmacies in Australia), which is why you won’t be able to find it in the US. Hahaha I’m with you there; I need way more colour correction than detox 😉
I’m just waiting for…ZZ cream? Is that out yet? 😉 OMG so many frigging double alphabet creams. Seriously speaking though? I’ll just stick to my BB. I’m confused enough as it is!

Aww thanks! 😛
I don’t find the CC cream drying at all. It looks good on the skin 🙂 I’ll be bringing your mule (assuming we’re talking about the same person :P) to Priceline. If you’re interested, let her or me know!
I’m still getting my head around BB and CC creams now DD creams? lol…When will the alphabet creams stop?! haha.
The DD cream sounds really interesting. Hopefully there’ll be a shade to match my skin tone.
Thanks for the swatches ♥

My pleasure Sunshine. Let’s see when they’re coming up with an EE or FF cream eh? 😛
I haven’t seen any DD creams, but I adore The Face Shop’s Aura CC cream — great delivery system and nice coverage, but not as thick as many BB creams. I used Aura CC all summer and it performed brilliantly.
Ooh I didn’t know The Face Shop had CC creams. Good to know it works well for you. I’ll check it out when I’m at the store next. Hopefully they won’t hike the price up too much compared to Asian prices.
It’s probably a good thing I don’t what the Asian prices are… as is, Korean products at Asian stores in Southern California (we are blessed to have 3 in San Diego) are very competitive with Sephora prices for comparable Western products — and they are still WAY cheaper than Christian Dior or Chanel… so I’m happy with the price even if I suspect that I could get it for one third the price if I went to Seoul… A trip to Seoul is not in the plans for this year, alas… but a trip to my local Asian market is on the list for next week!
