NIVEA In-Shower Body Lotion Skin Conditioner: No, Wait, What? Body Lotion In the Shower?!

NIVEA In-Shower Body Lotion Skin Conditioner

You gotta love technology for all the new products and gadgets you’re seeing out there. This is the second time I’ve stumbled upon an interesting yet unconventional beauty product and it’s not even a cleansing brush. 😉

Remember when I talked about the Nanoblur and how odd it was when I realised that it actually goes over makeup and not under it? Well whaddyaknow, NIVEA has come up with a couple of body lotions that you actually use WHILST IN THE SHOWER. Body lotion. In the shower! What trickery is this?!

Wrap your head around it because when I first tried it out, it blew my mind.

What you do with the In-Shower Body Lotion is that after you shower, cleanse your face, wash your bits, etc, you apply a layer of the skin conditioner on your skin like you would a regular body lotion. Next, just rinse it off and dry yourself with a towel. It’s such a foreign yet highly interesting concept to me that I immediately told Tim he had to try it out. Sadly, he’s not a fan but heck, I am!

Now the thing about the In-Shower Body Lotion is that it leaves a slightly waxy film on your skin once you’ve rinsed it off. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea especially if you like to be squeaky clean after a shower. I do but this one just works swell for me. The feeling is like having hand cream on, washing your hands but still having that hand cream last through washing. Another example would be like having a very thin layer of sunscreen on your skin even after washing (the latter is Tim’s description). The residue left behind on your skin is the body lotion. Once you dry yourself off with the towel, it’s like you’ve already applied body lotion.

I normally dislike having any form of residue on my skin after a good shower, which is why I’m very surprised at how much I like this. I really like the soft, typically-Nivea scent it leaves behind on my skin. I don’t even need to apply an extra layer of conventional body lotion on my skin if I don’t want to because this stays on my skin for hours. I do apply regular body lotion over this in the evenings. The double layer of body lotion has helped improved my dry skin (especially on my legs) tremendously.

I’ve raved and rambled on enough about just one body lotion :P. This is something you should check out even if it’s just to satisfy your curiosity as to how a body lotion would work in the shower. I’m actually down to probably 4 more uses before I have to repurchase and I most definitely will. Hopefully Priceline will have a sale on NIVEA products by the time I’m done with my current bottle. *fingers crossed*

NIVEA In-Shower Body Lotion Skin Conditioner is also available for very dry skin and retails at AU$7.99 for 400ml. You can get this at selected pharmacies, mass merchants and supermarkets nationally.

What I like about it: Interesting concept, keeps skin well hydrated for hours

What I do not like about it: Leaves a slightly waxy residue on the skin but surprisingly, it didn’t really bother me.

Have you tried this in-shower body lotion before? Doesn’t the thought of using this in the shower pique your interest? No? Just me? Aww! 😛

OMG. This has finally solved my issue of being too lazy and forgetful about using body lotions! Especially in the mornings when I really can’t be arsed doing that. I just want to hop in the shower, get out, changed and run out of the door.

This one is SO GOOD. By the time this post was published, I’ve already finished an entire bottle!

Ermmm… Why would one rinse off the body lotion in the first place? If it is a 2 in 1 shower with body lotion thing, then I get the idea coz it saves time… But with this one, one has to shower first, then only apply the lotion and rinse again. Double work for me and waste water lor. Sorry.

Haha I get what you mean but you wash it off and it leaves this moisturised feeling behind. Initially when I first heard of it before I even tried it out, I did wonder if it would be better to leave it on instead. By washing it off, it still gives that just-had-body-lotion on feeling on the skin. But yeah, I get what you mean by needing extra water to rinse it off 🙂

I don’t think I have seen this in Malaysia yet. I just purchase a body lotion from Nivea under the Express Hydration range and really love the texture and also the blue lotus smell. I doubt I would like this though because I do not like having that waxy feeling after bath 🙂

It’s definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, I’ll have to say that. I didn’t think it would be mine either because I don’t normally like that feeling of still having some sort of residue on my skin after a shower. I don’t know what it is about this in-shower body lotion that just works for me.

I’ve tried the Body Lotion Serum in Malaysia. I’m not sure if that’s the one you meant. I really like it. It has SPF25 and I use it as a body sunscreen. Smells really good too!

Oh I have to try this. I admit I’m so lazy when it comes to body lotion. I hate having to sit down and apply it and then wait for it to dry. The idea of this body intrigues me! 2 birds one stone, that’s my kind of product.

Haha that’s exactly how it works for me. Two birds, one stone! 😀

I’ve read many rave reviews about this but my main concern is since it leaves a waxy residue on the skin, I assume it does so on the bathroom floor as well! I would loathe to have to scrub my shower floor after each shower.

    1. Tine

Haha I know what you mean Isabel. In terms of the shower floor, I’ve had no issues with it having that waxy residue at all. Phew! 🙂

  6. Ling

    I heard a bout this.
Does it feel slippery in the shower? I fear that I’ll be falling on my ass.

Nope, no ass falling here. Not slippery at all. I didn’t get any waxy residue on the floor after using this 😛

I don’t think that Malaysia had this range at the moment. I’m not sure whether will I like that texture on my skin after bathing but worth a try! 🙂

    1. Tine

I do hope you guys get it. For what it’s worth, it’s definitely an interesting product to try 🙂

Same concept as Lush body butters. Apply to clean wet skin, do a final rinse, towel off. Some of their body butters are for exfoliating… But not all are.

    1. Tine

Ah yes, Lush does one too. I’ve tried the Ro’s argan conditioning lotion (something like that; can’t recall the exact name right now) and it’s pretty darn good too.
