Nanoblur: It’s Photoshop In A Tube!

Nanoblur: It's Photoshop In A Tube!

I’ve heard of the Nanoblur on a number of of US and British beauty blogs and YouTube videos for a while now. It was quite a hit and when I finally saw this at Priceline, I quickly snapped it up to try. Look 10 years younger in 40 seconds or less? What miraculous claim is this? Sounds like hokum, doesn’t it?

Or so I thought! 😉

Description:
Immediate correction of the appearance of skin aging, including the look of lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet, sagginess and enlarged pores. Our Promise: look 10 years or more younger in 40 seconds or less. This advanced optical cream erases the appearance of skin aging, lines, wrinkles, crow’s feet, sagginess and enlarged pores within seconds without any tint. Essential for meetings, events and dates.

Nanoblur Ingredients

It’s a very light silicone-y cream. It’s not as slippery as primers like Benefit’s POREfessional or Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer but it does have a velvety texture that slides on the skin. It dries very quickly on the skin and when it does, the skin doesn’t look lined anymore. Don’t believe me? Try it out in stores on the back of your hand. Spread it just on one half of the back of your hand and compare it to the other half. You’ll see a signification reduction of lines. No kidding!

Nanoblur

This is one strange product. It feels like makeup primer but you don’t use it under makeup like all primers. This is to be applied ON TOP of makeup. I didn’t read the box properly when I bought the Nanoblur so the first thought in my mind when I read that this was to be applied over base makeup, I was like EHH??

Nanoblur Swatch

To satisfy my curiosity, I tried this out as soon as I could. I wanted to see if it lived up to its claims. Look 10 years younger in 40 seconds or less? Pfft. I applied this all over my face especially on the nooks and crannies of my nose (hello big pores!). So, how did this fare? Did I look 23 in 40 seconds or less? 😛

Nanoblur Before and After

Okay, to say I look like I’m 23 is just ridiculous. But I’ll admit it; I’m impressed. My nose, nasal labial lines, lines on my forehead and other fine lines on my face looked like they’ve been blurred off. The lines under my eyes are still there, of course, but other parts of my skin are smooth. I’m particularly impressed at the lack of pores on my nose, which is quite the bane of my face. It’s like spackle on my hole-y and line-y face and it works so well over my foundation and BB cream. There’s instant visible difference to the skin. I wish I’m exaggerating but heck, it knocked me off by my boots when I looked at the mirror.

Of course, I’m all about using beauty products more than one way if I can help it so I tried this out as a primer under my foundation/BB cream. It works just as well. You probably don’t get that “blurred”, soft-focused finish on the skin but it does fill in the tiny holes and lines for your makeup to glide over and sit on top smoothly.

Nanoblur Before and After

One thing though: when you use this, make sure your foundation/BB cream is completely dry first before applying the Nanoblur. I find that if I were to apply the Nanoblur over still-moist skin, it tends to drag on the skin and leave finely-dragged foundation marks. Also, do apply this by patting it over the skin gently instead of rubbing it over base makeup as that will also leave drag marks on the skin.

This is my Photoshop in a tube and I love it. I don’t know how to categorise this in my makeup bag (can’t be a primer since it doesn’t go under makeup) but it’s definitely a staple in my makeup routine now. Curiosity didn’t kill this cat, thank goodness. It revived the cat and made it sing Hallelujah. 😛

Nanoblur

Nanoblur retails at AU$29.99 for 30ml and is available at Priceline and selected pharmacies nationwide.

What I like about it: Fills in every pore and line on the skin. Leaves the skin looking velvety smooth.

What I do not like about it: Have to be careful when applying this over makeup as it can leave drag marks if I apply this over “moist” makeup or if I rub it on a tad too hard.

Have you tried the Nanoblur before? What do you think about it? Does it work like Photoshop on your skin? 😛

Hi Tine, I am glad to hear that your liked the Nanoblur .. I am still undecided whether I like it or not. I have patted in on over my makeup and I agree with you it does hide your pores , but it leaves my make up very matte looking and I much prefer the dewy look.
I haven’t tried it as a primer , so I might give it go using it that way to see if I get better results.

I like my cheeks to be slightly dewy but my T-zone matte (stupid oily T-zone) so I apply more on my T-zone and less on my cheeks. It’s such a strange product though to apply over makeup. Never seen anything like it.

Wow Tine. That is amazing! I suppose we can skip loose powder cause the finishing seems powder-like?
Recently Watsons Malaysia launched MUSE by Watsons which is a store of premium beauty brands. Something like Sephora. And I spotted Nanoblur. I was gifted with the eye cream which I have yet to try :D. So gonna check this out at MUSE 😉

You can definitely skip loose powder for this. I find myself not needing any because if I use loose powder on top of it, it looks a bit too powdery.

Ooh what’s the MUSE? Like Sephora?! NO WAY! Gotta check it out when I’m back in August! 🙂

Yes, like Sephora except that it is in a much smaller scale. Currently MUSE by Watsons is only at Sunway Pyramid. They are planning to open up 3 more outlet in 2013. Will see where are they heading to 😀

Thanks for letting me know! Hope to check it out in a few months then. I’ll drag my husband to Sunway Pyramid and tell him I want to get, like a phone case or something. Bahahahha!

I don’t understand how to apply this over makeup o.0….*confused*

    1. Tine

When I first tried it out, beats the hell out of me. I dabbed it over makeup. It’s kinda like a matte film over foundation. Strange, but it works!

  4. Victoria

Very strange product indeed. Do you pat it with your hands or do you need to use a make up tool for this?

    1. Tine

I just pat it with my fingers. No brushes/sponges, etc necessary. Make sure your foundation is completely dry and don’t rub the Nanoblur on or else it will drag on the skin.

Great review! I have to compare the ingredients of Nanoblur w/ the Miracle Blur. Miracle Blur did nothing to hide my lines…but I am older than you lol so it may be too late! Also, Miracle Blur felt so heavy & even more so on top of BB Cream or foundation. I liked the velvety feel, but it reminded me of DHC’s Velvet Coat primer. I will look for Nanoblur in the stores in the US & try out a sample 😉

Ooh I’ve not heard of the Miracle Blur; I’ll need to Google that!
This does have a velvety feel to it. Makes the skin look so smooth!

I’ve been toying with the idea of getting this for a while, so I might give it a try!

    1. Tine

YIKES!!! Ok running to Priceline to get myself a tube of this stuff! Hmm..so will I look 28 then? Wait..I already do! hahahahaha just kidding! But I’ve heard the line from this brand…I can’t remember their name – have pretty fab products. I’ve been trying out their eye cream. But I think it’s best I try it out on Mr. C who actually has more visible lines than I do around his eye area! I am so mean!!! Hahahhaa

Eh hello darling, you look younger than me, k? Looking pretty darn fabulous. People wouldn’t even know you have 3 kids! Before Tim saw you at the airport (last year’s Beauty Bloggers’ Utopia), I told him about your kids. Then he saw you and told me “yeah she definitely doesn’t look like she’s got 3 kids” 😛

I already have the Hydraluron which I LOVE (will blog about it soon). Next one to try is the Eyesilix. I can’t try it on Tim. He’s got less lines than me. @^%$#!!

Thanks for the review. How opportune that it is now on sale at Priceline too!

    1. Tine

Good timing to pick it up! 🙂

Nice Review, is it me or does it look really powder-ry in the photo?
Definitely going to give this a try.

    Love your work.

    Jenni.

    1. Tine

Thanks Jenni. It’s meant to look matte on the skin, not powdery. It’s just the photo 🙂
