I thought I’d add a short segment to the blog called Quickie Mentions. Often I stumble upon goodies that are worth more than a 140-character tweet mention but not long enough for full essay-type reviews I usually do (e.g. bodywash. There’s only so much I can say about bodywashes that I love). I’m going to try it out today; please let me know if it works/doesn’t work! π
Ahh I remember the original Carmex Moisture Plus Lip Balms. These were Tina and LeGeeque‘s favourite lip balms, and for some reason, these were almost always never available at Priceline stores. I didn’t know about them until Tina mentioned how difficult it was looking for them. When I finally stumbled upon some at my local Chemist Warehouse, I ended up buying all of their remaining stock. So that was 2 for Tina, 2 for LeGeeque and one for me to try. π
That was a year ago. Gee how time flies, eh? Carmex has since then released 2 more lip balms, and this time, they’re tinted ones.
Just like the original colourless Moisture Plus lip balm, this slides on very smoothly on the lips. It leaves behind a hint of colour. Pink and Peach Sheer Tints are just as the name describes them; one has a pink sheen and the other a peachy, almost reddish tint on the lips.
These lip balms have quite a strong vanilla fragrance and somewhat artificial taste to them that aren’t really my cup of tea. Having said that, they do look and feel good on the lips so I overlooked the taste. They come in a very slim and handy size that I can just pop into my purse and go. It also comes with SPF15 (SPF in lipbalms are always a win for me).
If you’re a fan of the original Carmex Moisture Plus lip balms, I think you’ll like these too. They’re great for makeup-free days but with still a bit of colour on the lips. At $8.99 a pop, why not? If possible, get them from Chemist Warehouse. They’re often cheaper there. π

PS: Okay I realised that this looks a lot like my usual reviews but for once it’s less than 300 words! My usual ones are over 500! Next time, short ones with less pictures. π
I do love a quickie review, because I have a short attention span π xxx

Whee! Good to know you like it π
Simple and succinct! love your pictures!
Thanks Sharon π
Love the idea of quickie mentions! Looking forward for more π
Haha hope to do more quickie mentions! π
I’ve been planning to introduce something like your “Quickie Mentions” to my blog too. I had a name but now I forgot it, lol. The Carmex lip balms look good, but I must say I was surprised at the price…unless the exchange rate to USD makes ’em a lot cheaper (haven’t checked lately). I just got a lip balm from essence, one of my market research client, and I must say it feels really good. Some lip balms, like Tarte’s new expensive lip balm, and Burt’s Bees dry out my lips. I’ll look for these in the US if the price is right!

This is definitely cheaper in the US. I checked the price, it’s about half of AUD. Price looks a whole lot better there!
Omg, I wished they had this here where I live. π I have crazy chapped lips and nothing seems to work well π
Haha Lip Ice doesn’t work? Try Lucas Papaw ointment or any form of papaw ointment. This is available at pharmacies. π
Haha. Never tried Lip Ice surprisingly. Haha, is it any good? π will look out for the Lucas Papaw ointment next time I’m in a pharmacy. Thanks for the suggestion! π
I’ve tried many versions of Lip Ice but sadly, they’ve never really worked for me π
Haha After I read it I was all “Where got quickie?” but you know what? I’d say don’t bother pigeonholing them into “quickie” and “normal”. Just write and post ’em as they come so you don’t have to feel the need to shorten or lengthen them either way and it gives variety either way it is presented π Else you start putting unnecessary pressure to decide “What is a quickie?” Just 2 sen π

I know! So pai seh man. It just looks the same to me. CHEH! π Was hoping to just write a few lines about it but I ended up taking too many photos of the lip balm.
Thanks for your 2 sen. I’m putting it in my pocket π
Aww I remember that day – you, me, Geeq with chicken rice and Carmex :)))

Sigh such good times indeed π xx
Lovely photos – I love Carmex moisture plus, it really works well in relieving chapped lips. I will give this a try.
Have fun with the lippies! π
I got one of these in a beauty box last year but couldnt find them anywhere to buy. Thanks for the review and reminding me of them. I’ll keep an eye out for them again coz I loved it!
I don’t know why but these Carmex lip balms are surprisingly difficult to find. I can’t ever seem to find them in Priceline. Strange.
Anyway, have fun with these. It’s good stuff π
I love how these 2 look, and I was actually just thinking about doing something similar on my blog. There are so many things I want to review that don’t require an entire long post.

Me too. I just made a mistake when I reached the end of the post realising that with the ridiculous amount of photos, it’s almost as long as my usual reviews! Next round, there’s going to be a lot less pictures and words for Quickie Mentions π
I vote yes for ‘Quickie Mentions’! Maybe you can put more pictures and less words? After all, a picture says a thousand words π

Thanks Jess. I was wondering if I should still put more pics for Quickie Mentions. It still makes the review look so long! π
Maybe instead of putting one picture at a time, you can combine them in a frame? Like 2 pictures side by side?

Such a klutz I am, instead of clickin the reply button, I went and wrote a new comment -_- Brain is going haywire!

Don’t worry about it! Good idea, I might do just that π
Hi Tine, thanks for the lovely product review, and we love your product shots! Your blog is fantastic, lots of great reviews and info on here. We noticed there were quite a few comments about the Carmex Moisture Plus range not being available at Priceline. So we thought we’d drop a line to share that Carmex Moisture Plus in Clear Satin Gloss is now available at Priceline, and the Pink and Peach Sheer tints will be available at Priceline from mid-June. Thanks again for the support!
The Carmex team.
It was my pleasure! π
