Everything is (Almost) Peachy with Face of Australia’s Blush in O Peachy

At the beginning of 2013, I mentioned that I was going to talk a lot more about my first makeup love this year, and that’s blush. Being a Blush Fiend, talking about it once every couple of months just isn’t enough for me. In fact, I have enough to talk about it at least once every 2 weeks for the entire year! Blush-obsessed much? 😛

Face of Australia Blush in O Peachy

Today, I’d like to feature a cheapie-but-a-goodie blush from one of my favourite Aussie drugstore brands, Face of Australia.

O Peachy is a lovely shade of shimmery coral. It’s highly pigmented, which means you have to have a light hand when picking the blush up with a brush. One press of the brush on the compact yields a lot of powder. Just tap the excess off and apply on the apples of your cheeks for a pretty flush of colour.

The only problem I have with this shade is that it’s a tad too shimmery for my liking. When you first remove the plastic packaging and open the lid, I highly recommend that you give the top of the blush a light swirl with your fingers to remove some of the shimmer first. If not, you’ll end up having more shimmer on your cheeks than blush and disco-ball cheeks is never a good look.

More shimmer than blush, y’think?

Makeup Used to Create the Face of Australia Blush in O Peachy Look

Makeup used in this look:
Face: Yadah Angel BB Cream, L’Oreal Nude Magique BB Powder*, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer*
Eyes: L’Oreal Flash Lash Telescopic mascara*, Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in r.s.v.p., L’Oreal Color Riche Le Sourcil eyebrow pencil*
Cheeks: Face of Australia Blush in O Peachy*
Lips: Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in Shocking Coral*

This blush also works well as a layer on top of another blush. Say if you have a matte blush of a similar shade that you like but prefer a bit of highlighting over the blush, use the O Peachy as a layer on it. The effect is actually quite pretty.

The O Peachy is a beautiful blush to have and at $9.45, it’s a steal. If they ever do a reformulation, I’d highly recommend to tone down the shimmer. The peachy shade is beautiful enough; too much shimmer is overkill.

The Face of Australia Blush in O Peachy retails at $9.45 and is available at Priceline, Big W and Kmart stores nationwide. Watch out for sales at any of these outlets because you can grab pretty good bargains at times. 🙂

I love the color! I can imagine myself wearing this blusher, minus the extra shimmer. I’m into shimmer and stuff but it’s too shimmery like you said. It’s so affordable too 🙂

I would have loved this blush a whole lot more if it contained less shimmer. The shade is similar to NARS’ Super Orgasm. It doesn’t contain quite as much glitter but definitely the same amount of shimmer. 🙂

BA : ‘…talk about it at least once every 2 weeks for the entire year!’
Me : *counting blush palettes* uhm, I have enough to talk about every 26 weeks for the year..haha! I guess time to bulk up the blush stock! I have something similar to yours here, with a little less shimmer I think. Have you come by NYX’s blush in Pinched? They are pretty nice too 🙂

    1. Tine

Nah, I’m afraid I don’t have that NYX blush. I only have one NYX blush at the moment (how the heck is that possible?!) and while I cannot remember the name, it’s a dark burgundy.

Err yeah, last count was 36 blushes I think. And that doesn’t count the ones I recently *ahem* acquired. 😛

Hmm, guess we’d have to wait and see for the post on the blushes you have! 😉

  3. Love the color, but this is definitely a little bit too shimmery for me. In general, shimmery products don’t do well on my oily skin and large pores.

Me neither. I have quite large pores around my nose and I have to stay away from shimmery powder and creams on that area too.

The colour is beautiful, but this is too shimmery even for me and I usually love a very shimmering blush!

Hahaha I know, right? It really is too bad because this is quite the NARS (Super) Orgasm blush dupe 🙂

  5. lyn

It’s a lovely colour but maybe this will work better as an eyeshadow than blush.

That’s a good idea, Lyn. I didn’t think of using it as an eyeshadow *facepalm*. I’ll try it out. Thanks! 🙂

This looks similar to Benefit Coralista – how do you think they compare? I’d love a cheaper dupe.

    1. Tine

Ahh it is similar to the Coralista, although the Coralista has a pearlescent finish to the blush whereas the FOA one doesn’t.

It’s a very nice blush Tine! But as what you said, it’s a bit too shimmery. It will be good if its matte and yet peachy 🙂

    1. Tine

I wouldn’t mind a bit of shimmer on this; it is a very pretty shade 🙂

  8. Chelsea

This looks super pretty! I do think I need to add more FoA to my kit.. they make such pretty, affordable cosmetics 🙂 x

They’re doing so much better now than they did 5 years ago. Back then, when I first came to Australia, barely anyone goes to the shelves at Priceline because the setup alone looked abysmal. But since 2-3 years ago when the marketing amped up heaps, their products also improved and people were finally taking notice. I’m really glad too because they have good stuff. Their makeup remover is my HG. Better than Lancome’s Bi-Facil. Better than Bioderma’s Crealine for waterproof/tubed mascara and stubborn eyeliner.
