Note: This is a very picture-heavy post
Day 5 was quite an exciting one for me. Remember when the I ran the giveaway for 2 tickets to one of the L’Oreal Paris runway shows? Well, the winner was Issy who flew to Melbourne from Sydney just to attend the show! It was good to meet her in person and we had a good chat while she and her friend Mel were queueing up for the Powder Room. Hello Issy! Hope you enjoyed the show. π
Unfortunately, I was a bit late to the filming of Runway 5 by Rae Morris backstage so I couldn’t get any makeup tips for you. Oh hang on, maybe just one tip. π When you first buy a lipstick, use it directly on your lips when it’s still sharp and pointy. But when it starts to get blunt, then use a lip brush for a more precise application. Oh oh, one more tip: when you’re buying a lipstick in store, e.g. Priceline, swatch the lippie on your finger (just one swipe of lippie will do) for an accurate shade. That one-swipe is enough to tell you if the lipstick is pigmented. Swatching it 10 times on the back of your hand won’t do jack.
Day 5 was the day I thought I’d play street style photographer for a bit. I thought heck, fashion week’s the perfect time for street style photographers and bloggers do go about taking heaps of pictures, so why not give it a go? I didn’t take shots of people though (found it intimidating to walk up to random strangers to take their photos :P), but I did take some of the accessories they were wearing. You know what? It’s actually quite fun!
Now you know I’m such a bag lady. I love my bags big time. Funny thing though, I wasn’t interested in any of the bags during fashion week. It’s not that they’re not pretty; I saw a lot of beautiful Chanel classic flaps, Prada Saffiano totes, Louis Vuitton Speedys, Celine Trapezes, 3.1 Phillip Lim satchels, Cambridge Satchel Company satchels, studded clutches and many more. But it’s not something I haven’t seen before at shopping centres and on the street. Fashion week, however, is more about the shoes. And what gorgeous, GORGEOUS shoes they were. All sorts of heels, all sorts of designs and all sorts of colours you can think of. Maybe it’s time for me to move from bags for a bit and concentrate on footwear. π
After drinks at the bar, it was time for runway 5 to start (presented by Harper’s Bazaar). Designers featured were Sass & Bide, Arthur Galan AG, Bassike, Christopher Esber, Easton Pearson, Ellery and Karla Spetic. My favourite was Sass & Bide. I’m rarely a fan of print trousers but I want them ALL. Bassike’s monochromatic pieces were very stylish too.

Runway 6 (presented by Cosmopolitan) was a flaming one. As runway 6’s look emphasises on red hair, all the models were fitted with a red wig before they walked the runway. It was such a sight! Runway 6 features designers like Blesse’d Are The Meek, Bul, cylk, LUCETTE, Rodeo Show, Saveus and Watson x Watson. My favourite was LUCETTE. There were a lot of blues in their collection, which I just love.

That’s it from Day 5. I’m really looking forward to Day 6. That’s when the Red Carpet Runway will be. I’m expecting lots of ooh la la gowns for this one. π

My Experience of Day 5:
I didn’t get to spend long backstage so there aren’t much gossip to share with you on that one. Drats. Come on, people! Give me more drama backstage please! π
I most did a lot of people watching on Day 5. It’s fascinating just watching people through the camera lens and zoom on the accessories they have on. And since it’s fashion week, people don’t care you’re playing the voyeur. In fact, the more pictures taken of them, the better!
I think I’m starting to get a hang of all these fashion-y bits. I know, it’s so weird that I’m saying that at all. Hello, I’m at a fashion event! But really, I’m usually just seen in jeans and flats. It works for me. I pushed the envelope a little for LMFF by wearing more heels, dialling up on accessories and even vamping up on the makeup. You know what? It’s actually a lot of fun! I told LeGeeque that I can’t wait to see the look of people’s face if they ask me what designer I’m wearing and I tell them “le Target” (no one asked. Damn.). She said it’s not who you wear, it’s how you wear it. So true. Always walk with your head held high and you’ll feel (and look) like a million bucks. Even in le Target. π
You quoted me!!! Bwahhahah.. It’s true though, you don’t need designer to look like a million bucks. I’m really enjoying your take on this event. Really wish i could be a fly on the wall!

Hehehe you would have been a fly that flies into people’s bags to get a sneaky peek at what’s inside! π
Hahaha.. your post made my day!
Hehehe glad to have obliged π
LOL-ed at ‘le target’. Likewise here when I buy Jusco clothes, people think I bought them somewhere expensive..haha. True it is how you wear it π Btw, just curious, what is the brush for (the one in the first makeup pic)? Looks interesting..
It’s Rae Morris’ Radiance Brush. She used it to apply foundation. I know, it’s huge for a foundation brush, but it’s multi-purpose too. You can check it out here: http://store.raemorris.com/collections/brushes/products/brush-27-radiance-brush. There’s even a video on how to use it π
I would have never guessed it! Looks great and I can see how it can be popular! Heck, I wanna get it if the price tag wasn’t that hefty.
LOL I think you can totally rock some ‘le target” pieces like their designer collections.

I have a Stella McCartney for Target wool blazer and a cheaper Roberto Cavalli for Target blazer. They’re gorgeous and I love them. Love them more if I can somehow removed the word TARGET on the label. Hee hee hee!
There is nothing wrong with le target! It is definitely not what you wear but how you wear it π
It was fab to meet you, and thank you x
Exactly! And it was good to meet you too Issy. And your friend Mel too. So glad you enjoyed the show π x
