Hang on a minute. Jewellery? With nail polish? Really?
Whaddyaknow. It works!
Emily Green is a Melbourne-based artist and jewellery designer. I’ve heard of her and seen her cute rainbow-coloured beaded necklaces before she did this nail polish collaboration with Bloom. The collaboration with Green was inspired by her obsession with bright colours in her handmade beads.
I recently had the opportunity to try out the Bloom-Green nail polish in Emily Green Bright Melon. You know me, I cannot resist coral nails. 😉
The shade is a bright shade of coral, so bright it’s almost fluorescent (reminds me slightly of the bright Stabilo highlighters). It has a rubbery finish that looks like pleather. I can’t fault the shade at all. It’s completely up my alley amongst my colours for summer.
Now as gorgeous as the shade is, I didn’t like the formula at all. I found it thick and gluggy, which made it rather difficult to apply without creating puddles of goo on my nails. I have quite a number of Bloom nail polishes in my collection (they do such beautiful colours) and I’ve never had any trouble with them before this. I don’t know if the one I received was a lemon or if the formula really is like this for all the Bright Melon lacquers. I hope it’s not the latter because it would be such a waste on a gorgeous colour.
All in all, love the shade but don’t like the formula. Still, it’s not going to stop me from checking out the other shades from the collection. I heard the Pale Mint’s pretty good. 😉
For the sale of each Emily Green nail polish, $2 will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Foundation. All Bloom nail polishes are 3-free (formaldehyde, toluene and DBP-free). Each Emily Green nail polish retails at $19.95 (2 for $29.95) and is available exclusively online at BloomCosmetics.com.

the color is nice!
mint does look quite pretty, and the glitter one should be pretty decent too; you cant go wrong with glitter!
it sucks that the formula is bad though.. i hate thick and gluggy formulas so much eughhh
great post 😀

Ah yes I saw the glitter one. That’s pretty. Just wondering if it’s going to be a pain to remove though. As much as I like seeing glitter on other people’s nails, I’m always apprehensive on putting them on mine because of the difficulty of removing them later on 🙂
What a lovely idea and the mint colours looks right up my alley. too bad the formula isn’t that great, I am curious now, if all the new shades are thick and weird. Melon looks like a great colour for the ‘pink’ inspired springtime!

Yeah it really is a pity I found this rather gluggy. I have at least 4 Bloom nail polishes before this (I’m a sucker for their gorgeous shades) and none of them has given me problems. I’m hoping it’s just mine that is a dud 😛
ohhhh i,m loving that coral.
A girl i work with has one of those necklaces. It reminds me of fruit loops and i always just want to nibble on them.

Oh I know right? Yishan (BeautySwatch) talked about her necklaces before (can’t remember if it was on her blog or not), which was when I discovered the fruit loop necklaces. Simple concept yet it stands out. How very clever!
Tine, it’s a very beautiful coral shade! Love it and more so due to the charity part 🙂 If only I have healthy nails and can apply nail polish like a pro – all epic fail.
Haha it takes a lot of practice to be able to apply nail polish properly. I’m still learning. I really envy nail bloggers for their surgeon-steady hands. Mine shakes badly, especially when I use my left hand to paint my right.
the shade is very cool! it would be really perfect to wear this on summer 🙂
Most definitely. It’s very summer-friendly 🙂
