Thanks (or no thanks) to Google shutting down Feedburner’s API today (20 October), I had to look for alternatives to maintaing the feed for Beautyholics Anonymous. I’ve recently switched to Feedblitz, and am currently in the process of migrating the feed, email subscribers, etc.
What does this mean for you?
- If you’ve been receiving duplicate emails on my latest blog updates OR you haven’t been getting any of my latest updates, I’m really sorry about that. I’m still playing around with the settings, and am in the process of deactivating Feedburner’s email subscriptions. Please let me know if you haven’t been receiving any email updates if you have subscribed to my blog via email.
- If you’re using an RSS reader for your blog-reading needs, I’d really appreciate it if you update my RSS feed to:
For Google Reader:
- Click on the big red link above
- Click on Subscribe -> Google -> Add to Google Reader
- That’s it!
Unfortunately, Google Reader doesn’t allow you to edit the feed link, so you’ll have to subscribe to this new link and delete the old one. If you’re subscribed to my blog via BlogLovin’, you’re not affected at all.
No, really, what does this mean for you?
Other than updating your RSS reader to my feed, there’s nothing else you need to do but to please bear with me while the blog does its updates and changes behind the scenes for you. You should still be getting blog updates on your RSS reader and via email (if you’ve subscribed to my blog via email).
You don’t have to do anything else. Hopefully.
Fingers crossed this migration will be smooth one. If not, well, you’ll see my rants on Twitter soon enough 😛
Thanks for understanding!
The big G is a real pain in the behind! I personally do not think they are killing off Feedburner but I suppose one can never be too careful. I’m waiting and seeing what happens and I’d be sad to see the email readers go 😛

Paris: Yeah where the heck are the naysayers now?! Dammit I switched because of them. So many posts, so many tweets about how Feedburner is shutting down, omgwhatamitodo, sob stories and so on. I fully expected a lot of blogging blogs write about this on Oct 20. What a load of BS 🙁
PS: It’s now 22 Oct. Do you know if your email subbies are still getting your email updates?
Emails still coming through with no problems. I subscribe to my own feed so I’ll know the minute it stops 🙂 Yeah, I’m also very pissed with the whole silence from the blogging blogs. They were the ones spreading fear and mayhem and I’ve been checking in since Oct 19 till today and there’s no new post about this Feedburner issue.
It makes me wonder if this was just a marketing ploy or if everyone is now too afraid/embarrassed to admit they were wrong all the while. It was very hard to find a voice of logic and reason amidst the hullaballoo 🙁

Gah. Dammit dammit dammit. I should have just waited instead of leaping off like a scared frog. Oh well, I suppose the silver lining’s the added newsletter option, something which I want to explore soon. GRRRRRR.
It does start to sound like a marketing ploy, isn’t it? Even when people aren’t talking about Feedblitz, they sure were spreading a lot of anxiety around the blogosphere about how shitty Google is about Feedburner, oh now what’s going to happen to their subscribers, etc. Shits me that no one is saying a word now. Suddenly all you can hear are crickets. >.<
Bye bye FeedBurner. But what’s the problem with Google?? I don’t understand at all. Whatever I have updated your RSS feed. Thanks for notify us 🙂
Keep blogging. Blessings!!
Olivia: Google is shutting down Feedburner’s API. It’s supposed to be shut down on 22 Oct. I was worried that email subscribers may not be getting emails to my blog updates, hence the switch to Feedblitz.
Thanks for updating 🙂
I’m subscribed to you via email and I’ve had no issues with duplicates/not receiving your updates… so whatever you’ve been doing is working fine for me! 🙂

Thanks for letting me know, Lilit! The migration of email subscribers shouldn’t be a problem, at least, according to Feedblitz anyway. Sigh. The not-so-savoury part of blogging 😛
No worry Tine!!! Take your time 🙂
Thanks Michelle 🙂
