An Aldi Discovery: Lacura Beauty Minerals Blush

Lacura Beauty Minerals Blush

I’m a big fan of Aldi supermarkets. Back when Aldi was Lidl (this was in the UK), I used to do most of my grocery runs there. Products are a lot cheaper than regular supermarkets and you can find random junk there for ridiculously low prices. Heck I even bought my Nespresso-like coffee machine from Aldi. Makes pretty damn good coffee, I’ll tell ya. At 79cents a cup! :P.

Anyway, so back to Aldi. During one of my grocery runs, I stumbled upon their beauty range, Lacura. You can find skincare products that cost no more than $20 and makeup no more than $10. I was rather curious as to what the makeup’s like, so I thought I’d give their minerals blush a go.

Lacura Beauty Minerals Blush Ingredients

The packaging is standard for a mineral powder makeup product. It’s plastic, has an attached mirror and reminds me of powders by Smashbox and Clinique. Interestingly it even comes with a separate retractable blush brush. The brush is surprisingly not bad. It’s not as soft as far as high-quality makeup brushes go, but for the price of the blush, it doesn’t scratch the skin like a lot of cheapies do.

In terms of colour, it’s a strong burnt coral blush. It’s highly pigmented, which means you only need a light hand to give your cheeks a pop of colour. Here’s how pigmented it is – I only need to press my brush very lightly on the sifter and already it’s too much. You’d definitely need to tap a lot of the excess blush just so you don’t end up with two patches of orange on your cheeks.

I haven’t used mineral makeup in a long time so it took me a while to get used to the loose blush powder. I had to be very careful when opening the lid, because any jolt releases a puff of powder all over the place. It’s the powdery mess that reminded me why I haven’t used mineral makeup in a while.

But you know what? Despite the mess, I like the blush. I think it’s a very pretty colour which packs a punch, and very affordable because there’s a lot of product in the jar. The powder is fine-milled and doesn’t feel cheap. The only snag is that there’s only one shade of blush in the Lacura mineral makeup range.

Next grocery run at Aldi? I’m going to try out one of their lippies. Heck it’s only a fiver each πŸ˜›

Lacura Beauty Minerals Blush retails at AU$7.99 for 5g and is available at Aldi supermarkets nationwide.

What I like about it: Very pigmented, affordable.

What I do not like about it: As usual for mineral makeup, it can get quite messy. There’s also only one shade in the range.

    Thanx for the review!
I also love shopping at Aldi, at first i was bit prejudice towards it, but now I love it and find their stuff of a good quality. The only thing i was kind of scared to try their new make-up range, but, heck, after your great job, I’m buying this as my next quick beauty shopping fix πŸ™‚

Kate: I’m still apprehensive about using their skincare stuff though, to be honest. I might give their cleanser a try. Maybe πŸ˜› As for the mineral makeup range, I think it’s not bad. The ingredients are just minerals, with no preservatives. Can’t really go wrong there, I think. Still, do check out the ingredients first before buying any, just for your peace of mind πŸ™‚

Big fan of Aldi here. Good chocs, good cleaning agents, and a much lower grocery bill compared to Coles and Woolies πŸ˜€

I know what you mean :P, i am the same when it comes to skincare. but that blush looks harmless , which is what it should be if it says it’s “mineral” :))

          My sentiments exactly! πŸ˜›

Thanks so much for this. I have this blush but when i opened it the colour scared the heck out of me and I haven’t tried it yet! It looks so pretty on you I’m going to give it a try now.
PS The Aldi facial serums are very highly rated and apparently sell out regularly.

Jackie: Very light hand, Jackie, very light hand. And be careful when opening the lid; the powder goes everywhere and boy, does it stain. I guess that also means it’s very pigmented and you’re definitely getting a big bang for your buck πŸ˜›

PS: I heard that about the Lacura Renovage range too. I had a look at the ingredients of the serum once and thought they looked pretty good for something that costs only $20. Hmm I might pick one up to try when I’m doing my next grocery run πŸ™‚

Aww thanks Michelle. It’s such a steal for a lot of product πŸ™‚

  5. Petra

Are there any parabens or bitzmuth in the Lacura Mineral make up range??

    1. Tine

Hmm I’m not sure Petra, but I’ll check them out and report back πŸ™‚

Your site is great to read Tine. I would really like to know what you think of Aldi mineral foundation. I am using Nude, and love minerals, I have oily and sensitive skin. If you say Aldi mineral foundation has good ingredients, I’ll definitely buy it. For the price!

Thanks Joanna. I’ve actually not tried any of Aldi’s foundations yet but I’ll be happy to give it a go. Need to get it from my local Aldi first. πŸ˜›
