For The Love of Clean Skin

I love trying out new facial cleansers. My guinea pig skin may not be able to take trialing of new moisturisers and serums well all the time, but it sure loves a good cleanse so I tend to keep a look out for new cleansers to try.

Here are some of the cleansers I’ve been using of late. The ones marked with * were kindly sent to me for consideration. Some were good, some not so much. Which one’s which?

For The Love Of Clean Skin

Oseque Cyber Shine Oxygen Mask Cleanser* (RRP US$37.50)
My favourite of the lot. It smells very good, cleanses the skin well without leaving it dry or tight. I’m skeptical of their claims though, of “releasing a shot of oxygen into the skin for brighter and fresher complexion“. I’m not sure how much of that worked, but I did notice my skin looking a tad brighter after cleansing. Whatever it was, it gave me clean, bright, hydrated skin, and for that I’m a happy camper.

LuView Lemon Balm Bubble Cleansing Foam (RRP US$9.10)
I stumbled upon this when I sneaked a peek at Emily‘s skincare goodies in her bathroom :P. I was curious to give it a go after hearing her positive review. I should have known better than to purchase a cleansing foam though, as I usually find cleansing foams quite drying on my skin, and this was no different. Ah well, my mistake. Still, it does smell quite delicious (hello lemon cake!) and removes gunk off my skin well.

For The Love Of Clean Skin

Trilogy Face Care Cream Cleanser* (RRP AU$36.95)
I love Trilogy’s Age Proof Cleansing Cream and expected good things out of the Face Care Cream Cleanser too. Unfortunately, this did not work for me as well as I hoped. It’s a decent cleanser in terms of dirt removal but it left an oily feeling on my skin after cleansing. I had to re-cleanse my skin with another cleanser to get rid of the greasy feeling. I’m afraid this just isn’t for me.

Mary Kay Botanical Effects Cleanser for Oily/Combination Skin* (RRP AU$35)
This is the newest cleanser of the lot. I haven’t been trialing this for long, but I just had to get the word out there that this, this is good stuff. It impressed me upon first cleanse. It’s a gel cleanser and this is suitable for those with oily/combination skin. It doesn’t strip the skin dry nor does it leave any oily residue on the skin after cleansing. Tim, who usually does not give a rat’s backside about skincare, gave a grudging thumbs up for this cleanser too. That’s saying a lot 😉

Have you tried any of these cleansers? How about recommending me more cleansers to try? What’s your favourite?

My favorite range of facial cleansers have to be the ones from Avalon Organics 😀 I like the Vitamin C and the Q10 range… they’re really refreshing 🙂

Oooh I’ve not tried anything from Avalon Organics. Thanks for the recommendation; I’ll add it to my to-try list. Priceline, here I come! 😀

I’m still using Jurlique’s Replenishing foaming cleanser. It’s very easy on my skin, unlike some other foaming cleansers out there, which have the same effect on me that they have on you.

It’s been working a treat for years now but like any other beauty blogger I’m itching to try something new!

A foaming cleanser that doesn’t dry the skin out? Dang, now I’m itching to try 🙂

  3. Kaye

I’ve tried the Trilogy cleanser as well, and sadly for me too it didn’t work so well. I’m a huge fan of their brand but as much as I love the moisture, these types of cleansers break me out. Sad face lol.

Ahh so it’s not just me who thinks that way about the Trilogy cleanser. Phew! 😛

  4. Stephanie/Yukaeshi

I tried the Trilogy Very Gentle Cleansing Cream and it was… meh, at most. It didn’t break me out per se but didn’t work as well. We are quite similar- my skin too doesn’t take too well to trialing moisturisers and serums and the like but I’m always looking for cleansers (Even though I have my HG ones) 😛 Cleansers that I have used and loved this year so far include Dr Andrew Weil For Origins Mega Mushroom Skin Relief Face Cleanser, iS Clinical Cleansing Complex, Elemis Soothing Chamomile Cleanser and Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Facial Wash!

Stephanie: Thanks for the recommendations! I’ve heard heaps of Elemis skincare but have yet to give them a try. I’ll be sure to keep a lookout for the ones you’ve mentioned. Cleaners are easier to try out compared to other skincare products. Takes less time 🙂

I agree with the comments on the Trilogy cleanser – smells delicious, and didn’t irritate my sensitive skin, but it felt like it left a film on my face after using it. Yuck! I have been using Grown products a lot lately, an organic skincare range from Australia, which smells phenomenal and has done ah-maze-ing things for my skin! I defs recommend!

Fiona: I’ve heard good things about Grown. I’ve only tried the hand wash though (slightly cheaper version of Aesop’s) and one of the hand creams. They were good. Haven’t tried the facial cleanser yet. Definitely going to now! 🙂
