Dotty nails are quite the trend these days, and they’re so easy and fun to do even for a nail n00b like me
Please excuse the grotty condition of my cuticles. They’re in dire need of TLC as you can see.
I do not have nail dotting tools, but I found an alternative way to create the dots. I had plenty of round headpins lying around, which worked perfectly. You can get them very cheaply at craft stores and haberdasheries.
Base shade: OPI in Russian Navy
Dots: OPI in OPI on Collins Ave, Rimmel 60 Seconds in Bonzai and Nubar in Faded Jeans
It was originally supposed to be placement of precise dots. Unfortunately, I didn’t wait long enough to apply the top coat, hence the index finger and thumb had the dots looking rather smudged. At first I was disappointed but after a minute or two, I realised I actually liked it slightly messy.
I had heaps of fun dotting the colours on. You can be as precise as you want, or like me, go nuts with the dotting
Have fun!
That’s awesome fun!
Wanna do my nails for me please?

Good tip on using the round headpins! I must dig out mine as well for a whirl!

Celeste: I saw this tip somewhere too (can’t remember where; it’s been too long since I saved the image for it), but the blogger used flat headpins. I think round ones work better

Beetrice: Good idea. I’ll book us with Clara, the one who did my McQueen nails. May not have much time to do the whole full-on thing, but she’s really good with regular manis as well (not to mention, her prices are more reasonable than most dodgy nail salons)
Cute! I like the artsy factor in it. Or toothpicks can be used to dot too

Xin: Oh yeah, a toothpick works too! I saw it on a few blogs where the bloggers used toothpicks. I’ll try that out next time
So pretty and fun!

A dotti mess – how cute!
Raylene: Hee hee, I know right? Didn’t think it could work until I played around with it. Don’t have to specially buy a dotting tool for this
