Happy Chinese New Year from Beautyholics Anonymous! Today marks the first day of the lunar new year, and this year is a particularly auspicious one as it is the year of the Dragon.
As Chinese New Year celebrations aren’t that big a deal in Australia (no public holidays. Boo!), this year’s festivities (in my house, at least) will be kept to a minimum. Maybe a new outfit or two is all. Still, it’s nice to wear something more festive to celebrate the lunar new year, and for this, I’ve done up my nails in red and gold. π
I can’t do nail art, so this is the best I can come up with. I was thinking of drawing a dragon on my nails, and remembered that I can’t even paint my nails properly, so … nah π
I used OPI Bogota Blackberry and Face of Australia Molten Metallics in Gold
If you’re single, I wish you lots of angpows (red packets) this year. If you’re married without children, here’s wishing that you don’t have to give away many angpows. Last but not least, if you’re married with children, here’s wishing you get more angpows than you have to give.
Gong Xi Fa Cai! π
A gorgeous nail look, love this theme π I vote yes for including a public holiday for CNY!

Okay, silly Westerner here but I’m intrigued. Can you explain the angpows and how they work? I’m interested in the Chinese New Year stuff but have no Chinese friends to teach me!

Mystique: Haha angpows are red packets containing money, given by those who are married. If you’re a child, you get one. You also get one if you’re an adult but not married. We don’t get much pocket money when we were young, so the angpows we get during Chinese New Year are considered a windfall π
Happy new year Tine!! π
Raylene: Thanks Raylene! Hope the year of the Dragon bring you good health and prosperity π
The nails look so pretty! Happy Chinese New Year!

LeGeeque: I used a very fine-tipped eyeliner brush to paint the gold bits on. But the brush is a bit shoddy. Will buy a proper nylon one from the art store π
Happy Chinese New Year to you! Perfect colors to start the Chinese new year! π
Issa: Thanks Issa π
Keung Hii Huat Chai! You are from Pg, right? π
I am spotting an almost the same red as yours. Mine is Make Up Academy nail polish #14.

Gong Xi Fa Cai sweetie!!! Chinese community celebrated this year too here in Spain…it was great!
Idaira: Ah that’s fun! The celebrations here aren’t that big though, but then again, I didn’t really check it out π
Happy Chinese New Year everyone! I love your nail polish… I have tried that design using natural and white color. I never though it would look great on red and gold.
