You know what, I think I’m starting to get the hang of this FOTD business, and so far, I’m liking it! It’s one day a week I get to shameless camwhore on the blog with little (I hope!) any ramifications. Or at least, I know you’re my peeps and you’re just too nice to say “sweet jeebus, her looks are boring. NEXT!” π
Today’s look is brought to you by, what I’d call, one luxe item. Every piece of makeup excluding the blush are drugstore brands. I wanted to create a simple (yeah, simple’s all I can do at this stage, I’m afraid) look using affordable makeup, but with one luxe item for the face to pop.
For many of us, we spend money on affordable makeup from brands like NYX, Australis, etc, and once in a while, we’d splurge on luxe makeup from, say, Chanel. It’s a nice pick-me-up to start the day wearing a little something luxurious. Hey, if we cannot buy the bag, we can certainly wear one item of their makeup π
The luxe item I’m featuring in the look today is the Guerlain Serie Noir blush. It’s my most expensive blush to date, and I absolutely love it. It’s the blush I save for special occasions and on days when I’m not feeling on top of the world.
Face: NARUKO Narcissus Total Defense BB Cream Essence, Face of Australia Photo Finish Compact Foundation, Revlon PhotoReady Concealer
Eyes: elf Eyelid Primer, Face of Australia Colour Max Eyeshadow Palette in Gold Mine, Face of Australia Eyeliner Mechanical in Black
Cheeks: Guerlain Serie Noir
Lips: Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick in Twist, Australis Colour Inject Mineral Lipgloss in Disco
The mascara didn’t hold well on my lashes though. The photographs were only taken minutes after I did the look, and as you can see, the lashes were already limpy. Boo!
A customary me-in-the-mirror shot.
In the style of Lisa Eldridge, a before-and-after shot.
I hope you’ve liked what I’ve done today. Like I said, a very simple everyday look with cheeks to pop.
My next look will be the complete opposite. EH?? Well, stay tuned π
Simple looks ftw! I think your looks do beautifully enhance your features, Tine! Wow, the Guerlain Serie Noir Blush looks stunning on you! I have seen FOTD of other girls with this blush on, but I think I love it against your skintone the most!
It’s like a cute ‘barely-there-pink’ on you! Absolutely adorable! I’m looking for a blush that would give me such an effect, yet haven’t found the one to date… So, my quest goes on…! :p

Jess: Thanks Jess! I first saw the blush at Paris B’s blog, and I knew I had to have it. Surprisingly, I actually USED the blush rather than keeping it on my dresser looking pretty π
Shameless camwhore, mwah ha ha!! I love simple looks like this, so gorgeous and flattering. The ‘you-in-the-mirror’ shot is beautiful, look at your smile π xx

Very pretty FOTD! And the blush itself looks gorgeous as well, certainly a luxurious treat.
Anthea: Thanks Anthea. I love the blush! π
Soooooooooo pretty! That blush is really beautiful! I really regret that I missed out on getting it as I wasn’t into blush at that time.
lyn recently posted..theBalm Down Boy Shadow / Blush
Lyn: Awwwww that’s a pity. It’s a gorgeous blush. I don’t normally buy makeup from Guerlain given that it’s very pricey (yeah, and I buy Chanel. Silly right? :P), but I just couldn’t resist this one. Oh well, I’m sure there will be more beautiful ones in future π
sometimes all you really need to make a simple look pop is to amp up the cheeks! I do that too for “no-makeup” days and usually with blushers that are more pinky/plummy as opposed to bronze/peachy which I normally go for if I wear stronger eyes.
Keep up with the FOTDs! Posting up looks gives me the encouragement to wear makeup and try different looks/techniques. Which also means I get more practice π So go go go! More more more!

It’s simple but beautiful! Love the blush!
Gio: Thanks lovely π
I LOOOOVE your FOTD today, Tine! It looks GREAT! And aye with Paris, you’re definitely rocking the blush today. =D
One question, how do you get these lovely FOTD shots that manages to capture the colours? I kinda suck at FOTDs. Sigh. Do you stand near the window? (Ok, it’s a few questions now.) Flash? No flash?
Syen: Haha I take about 50-80 pictures, and choose 3. It’s a labourious process all right. My desk is right in front of the window, so I get plenty of natural light in. Since I’m indoors, it doesn’t really matter if it’s sunny or overcast. Definitely no flash. Most of the time, colour correcting via Photoshop is not needed as I get enough light from the window. However, if I’m doing the same but concentrating on the lips, then I’d need to whip out Photoshop π
Love the 2nd last pic!!!! Scho kiuts!

What a gorgeous blush! I think you hit it right on the nail that the average woman usu uses regular (i.e. drugstore or affordable brands like Clinique etc) cosmetics but one luxe item could make such a difference to her mood (and looks!). Yours is a v pretty and wearable look…not boring at all!
Astrorainfall: Haha that’s what I thought! It makes a difference π
That blush looks gorgeous on you! Pops the look, certainly!
