Happy hump day, lovelies! Now if you could help drag me over that hump and on to the weekend, that would be the perfect icing on the cake π
Today’s Bloggie Wednesdays is going to be another question for you. A celebratory question of sorts. I’d like to know what the best thing is that blogging has done for you. What’s your biggest blogging achievement? What’s the best thing you’ve gotten out of it?
We put in a lot of hard work in our blogs. We’re often one-woman-shows; we do the product purchase, photography, editing, writing, more editing, etc to the wee hours of the morning, all for the love of blogging. For some of us, even our families don’t know we blog (or don’t support the fact that we do). Many a time, we don’t get recognised for our hard work.
Here is where I want you to show off. No, really. It could be a big thing, like getting backstage access to Fashion Week and reporting it live, meeting big guns in the beauty industry, celebrities, getting mentions in print or digital magazines, winning awards, etc. It could be meeting the people whom you’ve always wanted to meet. It could be someone telling you they love reading your blog (hell yes that’s an achievement. At least for me, it’s a big one). You know those small awards that bloggers nominate you for? E.g. Favourite Blogger, Star Blogger, etc? That’s something too, because it means that you’re recognised as a good blogger in the nominator’s eyes.
For me, initially I thought my biggest achievement was the wee mention in the January issue of Vogue Australia. I was (still am :P) proud as punch, but it was little compared to the amount of compliments and encouragement I received at the ABBW, where I had lovely bloggers letting me know that they love my blog and that they enjoyed my Bloggie Wednesday posts. It was such an honour hearing these comments from bloggers whom I’ve never met, and it really is my biggest achievement to date.
So, for today, I want you let us know what you’ve achieved. I know we’re taught not to toot our own horn, but let’s throw caution to the wind for once. There’s no judgment at all. I just want to celebrate your success, because YOU deserve it π
For me, it’s similar to you…it’s amazing when people tell me they think I’m funny and they love my blog.
Also, the recent discovery of being a Finalist at bdstarawards… icing on top of the cake!!
It just makes me want to blog better and stuff…
PS. – LOVE your blog! <3

Same as you!!! Those Blog Awards I receive on other people’s blog. Getting to read comments from people who takes time to share their thoughts on my blog and…
THE GIRLS that turned out to be my friends in real life!
For the serious side, the nail art tutorials that has been featured on a magazine in India STyle Speak, me being one of the Vaseline Road trippers and my face was pasted on magazines and I got a quick commercial on TV!!!! π

Nikki: Commercial?? Where? Is it available on Youtube as well? How could I have missed it?!
You are one of my blogging idols, Nikki. The amount of amazing things you’ve achieved is just….wow π
Congratulations on the feature! It’s a great satisfaction after all the hard work isn’t it? It’s a great pay off, let’s celebrate!
Personally, this year has been a fruitful year for me. I have been featured and/or mentioned in a few local newspaper, Seventeen Malaysia and Female Malaysia’s webbie! I also have worked with Korea Cosmetic website to write for them too. It’s really adventurous and each of these approaches do count!
Traclyn: Congratulations Traclyn! Print mentions are such tremendous accolades π
Congratulations on your achievements! π You really deserve it, I enjoy reading your blog so much.
For me, I’d have to say my “achievements” so far are meeting people. Blogging really helped me network and connect with more people than ever, and I am thankful for that π Granted I haven’t met really close friends from it yet, but I’m sure I will! π Oh, and also blogging made me realise how small and connected the world really is! π

Well put, Tine! π The best thing from blogging has definitely been the #evurl girls…who knew a chance meeting would set the stage for the amount of nonsense we get up to way beyond just beauty? π

I’ll add mine here too – the #evurl friendships are the best. Eating buddies, gym buddies (though this just happened today, and I’m not sure if it will happen again…maybe it will and I hope so!) and of course, beauty buddies. Awesome, can?
I think after the friendships that we cultivate, getting recognized by each other and the community are huge bonuses. Received our very first blog award today from the lovely Olgie and it made our day because we really started this blog for fun and to know that our blog is something worth reading is very heartwarming.

So true. And you have at least one thing in common: love for makeup. Okay, and another thing. Each other’s enablers! π
I guess mine is the sense of community. I re-entered the world of blogging and started my new blog just over two weeks ago. 586 people have made me smile 586 times because they have taken the time to visit my visit my blog and some have even left sweet comments! I love blogging again!

Mystique: Good for you! And welcome back to blogging. It’s brought me a lot of joy (and heartache at times), and it’s totally worth the hard work π
Oh I haven’t received accolades in any form (yet, I hope), but I feel very motivated to keep going when I receive nice messages from my readers, telling me how much they like my posts, like much they’ve learnt from them.
My friend told me that when she told her friend about my blog, her friend told her she knew who I was coz she follows my blog. My friend was like “WOW, you know my friend??”. =D
I also love being in the community. I spend a good portion of the day/week just reading blogs and learning more about beauty and makeup. Interacting with bloggers like yourself make me feel like I have friends who love makeup too! My real friends really don’t bother about makeup. Lol.

Bun Bun: Personally, I think your blog’s simply amazing. The amount of effort and detail you put in to every post is admirable. If I can pick up half of the skills you have in makeup, I’d considered myself an achiever π
I love being part of the community too. Thanks to blogging, I have a gaggle (:P) of friends who knows what loving makeup and enabling each other is like. There’s no judgment at all π
Why, thank you very much for saying that! =D I really put heart into every post and am glad that people can feel my passion through my words.
I also love that there is no judgment in the beauty community. I receive ‘that kind’ of look when I tell people I love makeup and blog about it, in the real world, all the time. Haha, it’s inevitable and natural, I guess. We all judge and get judged.

First – Congratulations! You definitely deserve every single accolade π
Second – Isn’t is lovely when someone says they love your blog? I get this warm fuzzy feeling inside “You love me! You really love me!” *wipes tears genteely*
Third – Friends. As Bee said, the nonsense we get up to is mind boggling and some of it should never be told π
Fourth – MWS Readers Choice Awards party! π Blogging made the party possible (part of it) and helped contribute to all the lovely goodies everyone went home with.
There is no “best thing” for me. Every single mention, comment and person who reads my blog and returns is the best thing for me π

Ooooh your MWS party was fab! I really wish I could have attended (you don’t invite me, I also will gate-crash :P). It’ll bring you more wonderful things in future, trust me π
oh yup many of us do not get supported by the families, that’s one of my complaints but then, many people mail me and tell how they love my blog which makes me happy but as such I haven’t received any accolades till now but love of readers is enough for me for now and for the friends I have made through my blog!!!

Swati: It’s a pity that a lot of us don’t get support from our family. I’m glad that mine supports me now, but before, they did think it was a waste of time.
I’m incredibly thankful for the friends I’ve made through my blog. To me, that’s my biggest achievement of all π
Great blog post Tine! I definitely think the highlight of blogging for me is the friendships I’ve been able to form with people. I’ve been lucky enough to meet up with Melbourne bloggers from time to time and they are so gorgeous, friendly and kind. Attending ABBW was such an amazing learning experience, I never realised that my little hobby could open up a whole world of opportunity for me.

Next time you’re in Melbourne, let me know! Would love to catch up with you again π
I’ve had many other blogs in the past. But this beauty blog is the FIRST ever blog that remains active and existent six months after its birth, and I’m still loving it! I think that alone is good enough π

For me the best thing is making so many new friends from all over the world as there would have been no way I would have been in contact with these women otherwise. I’ve done beauty swaps, and gone abroad to meet up with people.
I think the most exciting thing I’ve been sent was from Sara Happ last year, a big box arrived to my work address with body scrub, lip scrub, and lip slip. I was actually in tears that they thought my blog was worthy!
A x

Congratulations on all your accolades, dear! You deserve it all! π
For me, the greatest satisfaction I get from blogging is certainly the lovely warm and fuzzy comments / words from fellow bloggers and readers that just keeps me going every day.

I guess my “achievement” is different from the others mentioned here. I’m proud that I figured out how to resolve my own acne issues just from blogging.
