What a glorious day it is in Melbourne!
Today, I thought I’d show you a peek into a corner of my makeup collection, a small section of products which I deemed so pretty, I just can’t bear to use them. Most of these were gifts from family and dear friends.
Coffret D’or blush (a gift from my mother), and Jill Stuart’s blush (a gift from LeGeeque, on her previous trip to Hong Kong)
Shu Uemura Flawless Glow Powder in Radiance (gift from Beetrice) and Guerlain Rouge G Jewel Lipstick Compact in 06 Garance (gift from Paris B)
Lancome Poudre Elephant Teint (I managed to snag this at a warehouse sale. At that time, it was already sold out at Lancome counters), Yves Saint Laurent Opium Powder For Eyes and Complexion (a gift from LeGeeque) and Givenchy Le Prisme Blush in Blooming Fuchsias (gift from Beetrice)
The most precious item in the collection is the Dior Minaudiere, which was a birthday gift from Beetrice. She’s been bugging me to use the palette for ages, but I just couldn’t bear to smudge it. So it’s now sitting and looking pretty on my dresser.
I’ll be using some of them soon, especially the lipstick. It would be such a waste if it expired and I haven’t even tried them on yet. By the way, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t gift me with makeup, which you all know I love. I promise I’ll use them! π *fingers crossed*
What about you? Do you have any items in your makeup collection that are either limited edition, or too precious to use?
I’m exactly the same, I have a ton of products I just can’t bear to touch in fear of destroying the art work! And that’s what it is to me, art! π
Celina: I KNOW! There you go, I’ll use the same reason as you. It’s art. How can you even bear to touch it, right? Especially the ones with powder sprayed on top π
These are some really ‘too-beautiful-to-use-items’, Tine! I think, I don’t own a makeup product that I haven’t used actually… maybe because I usually stray away from buying such unique pieces, as I know that I would never use them. :p
Jess recently posted..Blog Sale | Items for November 2011 are up!
Jess: Hahahaha I’m glad I have such good friends who’ll buy them for me, because I’m pretty much like you. It’s very difficult to buy something I won’t use π (the elephant compact was a one-off, ‘cos it was on sale :P)
Agree that minaudiere is really pretty n to die for ! Have no pretty cosmetic anymore, all have been deflowered! *proud*

Xin: Oh I know. I wanted one when I saw it, but it’s so ridiculously expensive here. I asked mum to check, and she said that the SA said it’s sold out in Penang. She could try in KL, but chances are low. And then Bea got it for me from Singapore, bless her. I think it’s about time I deflowered that palette eh? π
you still haven’t used the powders and minaudiΓ¨re?? oh dear…I think next time I may just have to stand there and watch you defile it before I leave.. π then again, I’m also just as bad..*pot calling kettle black*

Beetrice: Ahem. Too pretty to deflower! π But don’t stop buying for me hoh? HHAHAHAHAHAH! π
No wonder you don’t want to use them. They are gorgeous!!!! And damn…your girl friends are so generous. I don’t even get gifts like this from my sisters, let alone gfs! Although saying that, I don’t have many gfs because I used to hang out with guys…and they definitely don’t have a clue about makeup!!
Ling recently posted..A Weekend Of Mixed Emotions
Ling: I’m a lucky duck, I am π I think I treasure them more because they were gifts from dear friends, not so much so of how pretty they are π
What do you mean you haven’t used the lipstick! :O OMG Use it girl before it goes rancid or something π On the brighter side at least the packaging remains gorgeous long after the contents are used unlike face/eye palettes π
Paris B recently posted..Lipstick Bandit Fall/Winter Edition: Guerlain Nuit d’Amour Rouge Automatique
Paris B: Ahem π Err, worst case, just keep the case lor hoh? Okay okay, I’ll start using the lippie. Ahem π
I can’t even remember when I bought you those stuff!! I remember the Jill Stuart one cos I wanted one too but there weren’t any left. Gosh, if I can’t remember them, YOU’VE GOT TO START USING THEM!
LeGeeque recently posted..A Contentious Issue
LeGeeque: You’ve seen my stash. Yeah, I’ve got waaaayy too much makeup π The Jill Stuart blush is meant to “pai leng” on the dresser. Okay I’ll start using the YSL powder soon *fingers crossed* π
Hahahah! I totally get what you mean. I used to be you. Or worse. But I figured it’ll be a bigger shame for the product to turn bad and to waste. So rip ’em and use ’em now, I say! Happy colouring! =P
Syen: You do have a point. It would be such a shame for the product to expire, go to waste and not even have used them once. Hmm. Okay. Ooh it’s going to be difficult but I’ll try π
I think you should use them Tine! You’ve now photographed and revered them in this blog post so they’re immortalised forever. Now it’s time to have fun and play with them!
Megan recently posted..L’Oreal Colour Infallible Eyeshadows
Megan: Hahahaha good one Megs! I have photographed them, haven’t I? Oooh but it’s still going to be difficult ripping into them, putting my fingerprints on them, marking their perfect patterns….geez louise, I sound freaky π
OMG these are BEAUTIFUL! I’d stare at their prettiness too and lucky MAC aren’t anything like these so I use them no problemo. Hahaha… That Dior palette aawww That Lancome elephant print.. omggg….
blushfully recently posted..Weekend in Photos: 12/13th of 11th of 11
Blushfully: Hahahaha that Lancome elephant’s pretty, right? I’ve had that for almost 2 years now, and it has not been touched. It was sold out almost everywhere, but thank goodness, at a chance visit to a cosmetics warehouse sale, I found it! π
Oh what a collection! So precious.. I would not touch that! Please don’t!! I whish I could keep from using the wonders that I buy… But see, I think these items are more precious because they are all gifts. I don’t think I would touch gifts..) And, as was said, it’s more than makeup, it is art.
Lina: You are a woman after my own heart, Lina! π
Ahhh I can totally relate! I recently used the Shu Uemura’s blusher Limited edition Wong Kar Wai and the beautiful gold wordings was gone on first swipe, it broke my heart! LOL
Nikki: Oooh I saw that palette. It’s gorgeous! Yeah, that’s one palette I won’t be using, that’s for sure π
Love all the products that you are showing! I have 4 of them in the drawer as well! I would love to send your some! Just let me know where to send!
xoxo EJ
Estee: Hahahaha send them my way! π
Omg, I thought I was the only one!!!! I feel so much better knowing this LOL

Beauty Snippets: Oh you’re definitely not. And I’m glad I’m not the only one too! π
Those are very pretty makeup stuff indeed! If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t bear to use them at all either! Then again, there are some stuff I don’t bear to use myself because they’re so pretty too, not just makeup (I collect journals like nobody’s business) π But yeah, I feel that having taken photos of them, I can (kind of) use them already… well, depends… π

Stephanie: Ohh I know what you mean about journals, although mine’s more notebooks. I have heaps of them, all untouched. Same goes to cutesy pouches from Etsy. We’re hoarders, is what we are π
Oh yes, journals AND notebooks π I would buy them, thinking “Oh I’m going to use this one” then end up thinking it’s too pretty and keep it instead haha! Yes, hoarders we are π Hello fellow hoarder hehe!
Stephanie/Yukaeshi recently posted..I Love Uniqlo!
I have this mac-eye shadow and I used it all… didn’t know it was limited edition and now I kick myself. It was so pretty! I use a Chanel foundation but only when I know I’m going out and photos will be taken. I just hate that it’s so expensive!
Emma: Yeah I know what you mean. But hey, you’ve spent a lot of money, and foundations can’t last very long, so it’s best that you use it more regularly π
oh my, what a beautiful collection Tine. i guess if you don’t use it, you can always frame it up ;). “oh and this is just a collection of the limited editions, you can never buy these again beauty items”.
dom recently posted..Secret Allure: OPI The Muppets Giveaway
Dom: HAHAHAHA I can stick double-sided tape on the back of the makeup and stick it on a boxed frame and hang it up. It’s art, yo! π
I don’t have much issue using beautiful makeup, my itchy fingers are always dying to put themselves into a fresh pot of something.
I have, though, a terrible habit of keeping candy and chocolates. I can’t bear to open up the pretty packaging and leave it lying around or in the fridge until it expires and I’ll go “Awwwww!! I mustn’t do that next time!”
Then there’ll always be a next time to say that all over again.

Bun Bun: Hehehehe I’m the opposite of you with chocolate. There’s no such thing as uneaten chocs in the fridge. If there’s any, it means that I’m not feeling well enough to have any π π
oh! very nice collection. but, it’s difficult to touch it coz it can destroy the art work. π
Jing: I know, right? It’s art! π
You could always not use them and keep them! They are so pretty and it would be cool having them when your older and they are vintage!! haha I love looking at vintage makeup.
