A Day To Remember with Revlon (Introducing Revlon’s Age Defying with DNA Advantage Cream Makeup)

At the weekend, I was invited by Revlon to take part in a beauty makeover with an all-expenses paid experience to show it off. The objective of the makeover was also to introduce Revlon’s latest foundation, which is the Age Defying with DNA Advantage Cream Makeup (boy, that’s a mouthful).

I had a choice of a AU$250 voucher worth of food for two at Bistro Guillaume, or an experience at the theatre. Since I’ve been dying to watch Love Never Dies ever since it came to Melbourne, I jumped at the chance of catching the stage performance with the husband.

MY REVLON EXPERIENCE

The Foundation:

Revlon Age Defying with DNA Advantage Cream Makeup

  • It’s a cream foundation that contains anti-ageing skincare properties that combats the signs of ageing. Lines and wrinkles are visibly diminished.
  • It has medium coverage, which is easily layered for full coverage without weighing the skin down.
  • It contains an SPF of 20.
  • Key ingredients: Vitmain B3, proprietary blend of hexapeptides and botanicals, humectants, West Indian Cherry Extract.
  • Available in 7 shades in Australia: Ivory, Bare Buff, Tender Beige, Soft Beige, Medium Beige, Spice Beige, Honey Beige.
  • RRP AU$39.95 for 30ml.

The Makeover:

Revlon Makeover Experience

  • After hearing Val and Akisa‘s less-than-appealing makeover experiences, I was skeptical about mine. I didn’t think it would last more than 15 minutes, with a few touch-ups here and there. That’s why I brought Tim along, to be the photographer for my makeover. He didn’t have any problems waiting for about 15 minutes.
  • What do you know, my makeover? It lasted a whopping 1 hour 20 minutes! Seriously, it was the best makeover I’ve ever experienced. My makeup artist, Nicole, was such a sweetheart and knew exactly what she was doing.
  • I was first given a skin consultation, which also involved her cleaning my face with facial cleanser, applying toner and moisturiser before she began the makeup. Along the way, I picked up a few tips and tricks from her.
  • My foundation shade was matched to Medium Beige.

Revlon Makeover Experience with Makeup Artist Nicole

  • Beauty tip #1: Instead of sweeping your face brush across your skin with translucent loose powder over foundation, try gently stippling instead (still using a face powder brush). This way, you don’t “drag” your foundation, and it stays on longer.
  • Beauty tip #2: We often like to rub our lips together after applying lipstick or lipgloss. Instead, try gently pressing your lips together after application, open, close, open, close (like a fish!). This way, you don’t bruise the pigments, and your lip product stays on longer (I tested this out with lipgloss, and it works)Β

The Show:

Love Never Dies Program

  • We caught the 2pm matinee of Love Never Dies at the Regent Theatre. I’ve heard mixed reviews of the show, but given that I’ve never watched the Phantom of the Opera on stage, I had nothing to compare the sequel to. I thought Love Never Dies was an absolutely brilliant performance.
  • I was quite apprehensive that Tim wouldn’t enjoy it, given that he was never really keen on musicals whereas I’m a huge fan. I’m glad to say that he thoroughly enjoyed it, and we discussed the show and sang the songs well into the night.

Verdict:
It had been a fab day of beauty and theatre. I had the foundation on for well over 6 hours and it held on good without streaking or rubbing off. My usually oily T-zone remained relatively oil-free for the first couple of hours. After that, blotting was required, but very little foundation rubbed off during blotting. I’m actually very impressed that the foundation actually contains quite a high SPF factor. Most foundations that have SPF do not have it in SPF 20 (mostly SPF 15). I’m definitely getting one for myself the next time I’m at MYER or Priceline.

that’s AMAZING!! You look gorgeous~ I’m glad they acted on feedback & improved on their makeover experience.

    1. Tine

Akisa: Thanks sweets. I’m very glad the makeover went very well. I mentioned about how you and Val (no names mentioned) had disappointing ones at Highpoint, and she was very apologetic about it. There was another blogger after me, and I’m sure she’d have a fantastic makeover too πŸ™‚

Hi Tine, you look lovely! I heard some good reviews on their photoready concealer and lip colours, but that’s about it. Like Rinnah, I think I should pay more attention to this drugstore brand πŸ˜‰
Oooo… I love musicals. When I lived in Perth, I’d go to anyone that attracted me. Don’t have that many opportunities here though. Sad…

Lily: Thanks! I absolutely love musicals too. So far, I’ve only watched Wicked, Mamma Mia and Love Never Dies. I missed out on Mary Poppins. I’m praying hard that someday, they’ll bring Miss Saigon back to Australia. It wouldn’t matter if it’s in Sydney or Darwin; if it’s in the country, I’m flying out to watch it πŸ˜›

You look absolutely fabulous and all ready for the theatre! *wink*

I’m impressed that that look was created entirely using Revlon products. Makes me wwant to take another, closer look at the brand. πŸ™‚

Rinnah: Aww thanks lovely πŸ™‚ I agree. I admit I wasn’t too sure about Revlon, and how it would turn out. The makeup turned out pretty well. The eyeshadows didn’t last though, but everything else (including the lipgloss and lip liner) stuck on good.

I’ll definitely be paying more attention to Revlon in the future πŸ™‚

Oh, you look so polished and the lippie looks really nice on you!

    1. Tine

Lyn: Thanks Lyn. It’s a pretty lippie, isn’t it? That’s actually a layer of 3 lip products – ColorStay lipliner in Sienna, ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in 020 and ColorBurst lipgloss in Hot Pink. The colour combination of mauve and hot pink went really well πŸ™‚

Sounds like an awesome experience hey! πŸ˜€ Wish they’d do that over here…and that lipstick shade looks gorgeous! πŸ˜‰

Beetrice: Do try it out. The ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick stays on for hours even through food and drinks. I know, ‘cos right after the makeover, Tim and I had sushi for lunch. The lip products (except for the lipgloss) remained on my lips like glue πŸ˜›

Glad you had an amazing experience. I knew I should of picked the right ‘location’. Too bad I had hen’s day + night for the 20th. Major sad face.

    1. Tine

Ponikuta: It was a very good experience. You wouldn’t know whether you hit the jackpot or not with these things. According to the makeup artist Nicole, there was supposed to be another makeup artist that day, but she couldn’t make it, so Nicole took over. Who knows what the other one’s like, eh?

  10. milktea

Wah!!! Phantom of the Opera part deux!!! If only I had the chance (stuck in Malaysia lor). Saw my first Phantom there in Melbourne yonks ago! Glad to hear you enjoyed it! Makeup looks fantastic too! πŸ™‚

    1. Tine

Milktea: Thanks πŸ™‚ If you’re watched the stage performance of the Phantom of the Opera, you might find this a bit lukewarm though. That’s what most people I asked (and the ones who reviewed the play) said so anyway.

I’ve never watched it on stage before, so this was excellent for me. The music’s very good too!
