I’ve been reading Zoe Foster’s beauty blogs for a couple of years now. First on Fruity Beauty, then PRIMPED, and now on Tumblr. I even have 3 out of her 4 books (latest being the Amazing Face). So why a groupie?
This woman is funny. I mean, laugh-till-the-sides-hurt hilarious. I don’t think I’ve never not chuckled when I read her latest blog posts on PRIMPED or Tumblr. Her vast knowledge of the beauty scene doesn’t hurt either. I was excited when I found out about her latest book, Amazing Face, months ago, and when the dates of her book signing were released, I jumped at the chance to see her in person.
First thing I noticed when she appeared at the event was not her woosh woosh hair. Not her perfect makeup. Not even her cute dress*. I saw her shoes**. My eyes grew into saucer plates and I exclaimed “Oh my gawwwdd the SHOES!” rather loudly, to my embarrassment. As she walked past me towards the stage, she heard what I said and replied “hell yeah the shoes”. Tee hee!
Zoe talked a little about how she started as a beauty editor, and in between wrote Air Kisses, Playing The Field and Textbook Romance. She answered a lot of beauty-related questions from the floor, effortlessly. Is there anything this woman doesn’t know?
The final part of the evening was the book signing. There was quite a bit of a queue, so that’s when Val, Molly and I caught up.
I’m halfway through the book now, and I have to say every page was a good read. Every tip was informative, and lordy, her product recommendations had my wishlist going a mile long. Typical Zoe-Foster style of writing, funny and light. What I really like about it is that she’s writing as though she’s having a beauty chat with you right there, like a couple of girlfriends going through each other’s makeup bags whilst sipping coffee. I’ve even caught myself reading excerpts to the husband and laughing myself silly. He wasn’t amused.
So go get the Amazing Face while it’s still available. I hear it’s selling like hotcakes everywhere!
*Frock was from Camilla and Marc.
**Said shoes were from Chanel. B***h.
damn those shoes are ohsem!! :O shucks, now I want a pair… *drools*
Beetrice: Ohsem, right? Chanel wei. Got “mor mor” one 😛
I Love Zoe’s writing too- she is just a legend and so unique. i met her in Sydney at the book signing and she is truely flawless and glowy and seems so bloody nice! The book is such a great read. Am devouring it!!
Me, my best and I: I was hoping to meet her last year at the PRIMPED event at David Jones. Unfortunately she couldn’t make it then (met Yaz Turker though. Still as starstruck :P). That is one tiny but mighty woman! 😛
