The Jojoba Company Antioxidant Serum

Next in The Jojoba Company range of products to review would be the Antioxidant Serum. I must say, I’ve been quite impressed with their products so far. So, how did this serum fare?

The Jojoba Company Antioxidant Serum Ingredients

The Jojoba Company Antioxidant Serum 2

First of all, let’s talk about the texture. It feels very slightly silicone-y, which reminds me a little of Olay’s serums. However, the ingredients did not state any silicone-based polymers, so this should work for those who do not like silicones in their skincare products (please correct me if I’m wrong). Upon application, it gives the skin a slight matte finish, which is why I only use this during the day, under my moisturiser, before makeup. It absorbs quickly, giving me a good, oil-free base in preparation for makeup.

The Jojoba Company Antioxidant Serum Close Up

I’ve been using this during the day for over a month now, and I’m happy with the results. My skintone’s more evened, and the serum provided an extra boost of moisture on top of the moisturiser I was already using. No, there wasn’t any miracles with the serum, but I wasn’t expecting any. Sometimes I don’t even need to use a a moisturiser with this on. The serum provides sufficient hydration on its own. I didn’t experience any breakouts despite the natural ingredients (I normally do with natural skincare products. I have no idea why. Guess my skin’s so used to the crap I subject it to over the years, the good stuff just doesn’t cut it. Hmmm…curiouser and curiouser*).

I’ve been Googling the usage of antioxidant serums during the day or night, and so far, I still haven’t found a definitive answer on whether to use it during the day or night. Some experts say it’s best used at night, some say it should be used during the day. What’s your take on this? Please let me know in the comments.

Again, love the sleek matte bottle. You just can’t go wrong with simple, classy packaging.

Would this be something I’d purchase on my own? Definitely. I’ll be placing an order for the next serum soon!

The Jojoba Company Antioxidant Serum retails at AU$69.95 for 30ml and is available at the website and selected health stores (click for stockists).

What I like about it: Oil-free, gives a slight matte finish to the skin, can be used on its own as a light moisturiser.

What I do not like about it: Not widely available.

How does it fare as an anti-aging serum? Feels too light? ๐Ÿ™‚ Just wondering…

    1. Tine

Milktea: To be perfectly honest, I donโ€™t use it as an anti-aging serum. Iโ€™m not even 100% convinced that antioxidant serums have anti-aging properties. Thatโ€™s just the skeptic in me, I guess. I use it more as a hydration booster for the day. The best anti-aging product? Sunscreen. It wins hands down

Hello Ladies. Chris from The Jojoba Company. This serum and all of the serums in our skincare range have a maximum amount of pure jojoba from our Australian plantations as the carrier to deliver all of those powerful plant actives deep into skin where they can do their good work. Jojoba is the only plant known to produce what is chemically called wax esters, instead of triglyceride plant oil. Remarkably, this jojoba liquid wax has similar chemical structure to the wax esters that naturally make up to 30% of your skin sebum when you are young and 50% of the film produced in your eyelids to protect eyes from moisture loss. Wax esters in skin are an untold story until now but they are responsible for naturally deep cleansing skin pores and hair follicles and creating the moisturizing barrier that allows skin to breathe but holds precious moisture in skin cells. Skin welcomes jojoba in and jojoba does exactly that as it mixes with skin sebum. Jojoba wax esters clear pores and hair follicles, deliver the nutrients into skin and create that moisturizing barrier. You get that as an underpinning benefit in all of our jojoba based products. It is foundational to maintaining healthy functionality in skin, particularly after the age of about 20 years for girls and 25 for boys, when wax ester production in sebaceous glands begins to wind back dramatically. Wax esters which are what jojoba is, are a natural part of your body’s health maintenance system so this makes this serum and the other serums in our range gentle, soothing, non allergenic and a bonus for skin anytime.
