Dang, could thereย be any more “blog” in that title?*
I follow over 200 blogs, and in that number of blogs, I read about 100 updated posts daily. That’s a whole lot of inspiration going on right there. Still, even though I blog about beauty, I admit that just reading beauty blogs can be a bit dry at times, which is why I always recommend reading blogs outside your nice. Me, I particularly enjoy foodie, fashion, personal and lifestyle blogs.
And then there are a few that I particularly follow for blogging inspiration about, well, blogging. I used to follow blogs like Problogger.net, Copyblogger, etc, and while they’re incredible bloggers, I have to say that there are times when I can’t really get what they’re going on about. Overwhelming information on what you must and must not do, SEO tips and all that to create a better blog just isn’t for me, I suppose. Plus, no offence guys, your blogs aren’t pretty to begin with ๐
So here are a few blogs that I do follow for blogging inspiration. They may cover a variety of topics – fashion, beauty, design, topography, etc. They don’t just blog about blogging, but also write about their passion, which are the themes to their blogs.
Blogger: Katrina.
What it’s about: Web graphics and blog technology.
What I like about it: Her screencast tutorials are highly, HIGHLY recommended. If you’re new to Photoshop, or have the basic skills and would like to play with the fun parts of it, Katrina explains it to you in simple, easy to follow steps.
A favourite post of mine: Photoshop Letterpress Effects Tutorial
Blogger: Jo Klima
What it’s about: Patterns, design and inspiration in surface, textile, graphic and web design. She also designs blogs and websites on The Darling Tree.
What I like about it: First of all, isn’t her blog gorgeous? It’s so girly. I particularly enjoy the images she put up. It’s like Pinterest, but with just the good stuff.
A favourite post of mine: Get Organised Desktop
Bloggers: Jennine Tamm (of The Coveted) and her team of awesome writers.
What it’s about: A community of fashion bloggers to share their experiences and create a resource so everyone can build a better blog. I find that it’s not just useful for fashion bloggers, but for beauty bloggers as well.
What I like about it: I’ve been following IFB for years now. I remember back in the day when they just started. There wasn’t all that much then, most of what I remembered were their weekly blog links. However, for the past year or so, they have really stepped it up many notches. Their articles on blogging are worth more than just a read; they’ve been bookmarked to be read repeatedly. I also enjoy their weekly Twitter discussions, where they’ll invite guests to talk about blogging (Twitter hashtag #IFBChat). There was once when they had a lawyer talk about what bloggers need to do to protect their blogs and their own behinds ๐
A favourite post of mine: Stop Getting Low-balled As A Blogger
Bloggers: Lauren Conrad, Kristin Ess and Amy Nadine
What it’s about: A beauty blog for anyone who’s ever had a beauty question or gotten into a fight with a hairbrush and lost.
What I like about it: Just to be clear, I’m not a huge fan of Lauren Conrad (I know who she is, but I don’t love her enough to follow the blog JUST for her). The reason I enjoy this blog is simple – the images. Sometimes it’s so refreshing to read a beauty blog that just has a lot less words and a lot more pretty pictures (I know because I can write up a storm and my posts are so wordy at times that I don’t know why I even have readers who can read all the way to the end without falling asleep). Plus, I like the blog design.
A favourite post of mine: On That Note – Clean Your Phones (it completely slipped my mind to clean my mobile phone. Euuw.)
Blogger: Kristina
What it’s about: It’s a style blog of personal style outfits, fashion trends and blogging.
What I like about it: The pretty pictures. I know, I know, I really do get sucked in by pretty things (I’m like a magpie, but instead of shiny objects, I just go for the pretty ones). I enjoy her style of dressing, her photographs, how she design and put her images together, etc.
A favourite post of mine: The Secrets to Successful Fashion Blogging. Highly worth reading, because I believe it applies to all bloggers.
These are just five of the many, many blogs I read. If you have any of your favourites to share, or would like to plug your own, here’s your chance to do so in the comments. Yep, for today (and the days when I do Bloggie Wednesdays), I’m allowing links in comments. So plug away ๐
Stay tuned for more blogs I go to for blogging inspiration!
*Hands up if you got the FRIENDS reference ๐
As one of IFB’s team and the writer of Stop Getting Lowballed as a Blogger, it means so much to read this! I know how hard we all work to produce great pieces, and it just means the world to me to see this.
Ashe: Hey thanks for dropping by, and more importantly, for writing the article! I think we bloggers need to know not to lowball ourselves. I don’t believe we’re selling out; after all, our time is valuable as well.
Big fan of your work, and can’t wait to read more articles from you on IFB. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for sharing! I love posts about bloggers’ favorite blogs. I’ll follow all of them for a while, and try to overlook all the pastel-coloring! ๐ I already follow IFB; the articles are getting better and better, I agree.
Christine/Hexotica: Hahahahaha, sorry, I have this thing for pastels ๐ I agree, the IFB articles are getting better and better as time goes by.
thanks so much for including pugly pixel in your feature, tine — i appreciate it!
Katrina: Hi thanks so much for dropping by! Well, it’s my pleasure for featuring your website. I love it! ๐
I know I’m terribly late at saying this, but thank you for featuring PSS as one of your faves! <3 ๐
