Fridays’ List of Lusts are usually just about the pictures, but this week, I wanted to say little more about what I’m lusting after, which are Coach’s Original and Classic bags. My first designer bag was a Coach. My mother gave me one when I was about 17. It was a simple design, a tan shoulder bag with the signature toggle clasp to close and buttery-soft leather. That’s how I always think of Coach, and subsequently, purchased similar styled Coach bags. No monograms, odd designs, and no one knew they were Coach, which was what I wanted. As the years went by, Coach launched collection after collection, and they were simply abysmal. The clashing colours and cheap-looking canvas turned me off and I pretty much stopped looking at Coach.
To my delight, Coach has relaunched their classic designs, and though the designs and colours may be boring to some of you, I just couldn’t be more thrilled. The tan, mahagony and black bags are calling out to me, and I want them BAD.
Note: The ones in British Pounds are available at Net-a-Porter.com. The rest are from Coach.com.
We have decided which one to buy. We’re buying identical bags. HURHURHUR
LeGeeque: Yayes! Bag ladies and sister? 😛
I really like the look of the Rambler’s Legacy. But I think it will cost double here in Malaysia.
Lyn: It sucks that Coach is so expensive in Malaysia and so cheap (well, relatively cheap) in the US. Same goes for Australia 🙁
I’ve always believe that the leather version are always better than those printed ones 🙂 Thanks for sharing, I want the Stewardess bag! 🙂
Nikki: Me too! I find the monogram ones tacky. And I have two monogrammed bags! 😛
You know what sucks? That these aren’t available in store. I checked here. They told me they weren’t carrying it. Apparently its not even carried in store in the US, just online. Boo! But that said, since we have netaporter and everything, I’m eyeing that Field Messenger in Tan. Ooh lovely!!
Paris B: THEY AREN’T? What the fracking flowering hex #%@^?? Then I suppose it’s time I make a request to my aunt in the US to get it for me. Parents will be going to visit her, so mumsy can bring it home for me. Score! 😀
they give you the real professional look, don’t they? and the Madison thing looks super hot 🙂
Maddy K: My sentiments exactly. Looks gorgeously old-school. I think the Madison’s a sweet tote 🙂
I agree with you on this one–as soon as a luxury brand starts blasting its logo all over its products, it just becomes overpriced ‘cheap’ commercial crap.
I think these designs are getting back to what luxury its all about–minimal, elegant, and quietly branded.
Christine/Hexotica: I highly agree. I like bags that don’t scream “lookatit me I’m carrying designer and I’m cooler than you!”. As much as I can, I try not to buy monogrammed bags. These Coach classics are just the ticket.
I just received the court bag in mahogany today. It is absolutely lovely. I ordered it in a coach store and they shipped it to my apartment for free. It’s a bit smaller and softer than I expected but still has a really nice shape. I would say buy it when there is a sale. I brought it because I had a $100 off discount. Not sure if I would pay the original price.
Rachel: Oh you lucky lucky thing! According to Paris B, these are only available online (WHY?! :() Enjoy your bag! 🙂
The leather versions are always way better! 🙂 My first designer was Coach too and I am also lemming, lemming after this new collection!
Nadia: Oh tell me about it. It sucks that it’s not available in stores, only on Coach.com.
