I read rave reviews about these towelettes on PRIMPED months ago, but it actually took me ages to hunt them down. For some reason they were never available at David Jones or Priceline, even though the other products from the same range were. When I finally spotted one at Priceline, I immediately snapped it up.
So, what is as good as I expected?
Description:
Yes to Cucumbers Natural Glow Facial Towelettes are gentle, all-natural wipes that remove dirt, sweat and make-up. The wipes have been formulated with organic ingredients including cucumber to soothe and soften, aloe vera to hydrate, and Dead Sea Minerals to exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin. The towelettes are also oil and alcohol-free as well as non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic. Suitable for all skin types.
It’s a pity I used Wotnot’s Naturally Nurturing Facial Wipes before I used these, because the Yes To Cucumber ones felt rough and lacking in comparison. Tbe towelettes are quite big and wipes a bigger surface area.
I don’t use wipes alone to remove makeup, but once in a while, I like to have most of my foundation off before using a makeup remover. Did this make the mark? In terms of removing foundation and blush, it did quite a good job. For eye makeup, especially mascara, this was a let down. Still, I wouldn’t recommend using facial wipes alone to clean off your makeup, so please do not rely on them.
The problem with these wipes? They stung my skin big time. I was surprised to find no alcohol in these wipes because I was so sure it was the alcohol which was irritating my skin. Every time I used the wipes, it stung. To answer my first question, nope, it certainly was not as good as I expected. It did not, as the description puts it, rejuvenate my skin, nor made it glow.
Lest I put it to waste, it’s now something I use to clean my makeup brushes after every single use. Not bad, eh? (I do a thorough clean of the brushes at the end of the week. The wipes are only just a temporary measure).
Yes To Cucumber Natural Glow Facial Towelettes retail at $12.99 for 30 wipes, and is available at Priceline, David Jones, Big W, Target and selected pharmacies nationally.
What I like about it: Large wipes, smells refreshing.
What I do not like about it: Stung my skin every time I used it. Meh.
Phenoxyethanol is alcohol, a harsh alcohol and it will stings big time. PLEASE DON’T use this to remove eye make up. Sea salt can also be irritating to sensitive skin.
