Hi chickens, I’m back!
Man, that sure was a long break I took. Wouldn’t say I’m all refreshed and ready to go, but it was a good holiday nevertheless. Thought I’d share some holiday snaps with you. It’s not much; then again, the most I did was shopping, and I wasn’t too keen on taking photos of shopping malls 😛
Sadly, I was down with a flu at the end of my first week in Malaysia, and was out of sorts for the next couple of weeks, with really bad residual cough, burning sore throat, and numerous mouth ulcers. I couldn’t eat much during the 15 days of Chinese New Year, not even the delicious cookies and treats. And that sucks donkey balls.
My daily staple for almost 3 weeks
Food I snapped, but couldn’t eat due to a terribly sore mouth and throat. Can see, cannot eat. It was torture.
I was also a mosquito magnet the whole 4 weeks. No amount of insect repellent helped. My smooth, relatively blemish-free legs and arms are now full of scars 🙁 The only reprieve was Mopiko. And now that I’m home in Melbourne, it’s lots of Vitamin E and Bio Oil.
I didn’t get to meet up with many friends, but that was the intention as I wanted to spend more time with my family this trip. My dad lost a lot of weight since I last saw him (he went on a very strict diet due to his high blood sugar levels), and even though he’s now healthier than he’s been in many years, it was still a massive shock to see him almost half the size he was. I burst into tears at the airport when I laid eyes on him. Yes, I’m a classy one.
Just before the Chinese New Year began, I caught up with my extended family on my dad’s side at Genting Highlands. It was fun seeing my nutty relatives again.
With cousin Beetrice
My 91-year old paternal gran. That woman shrinks every time I see her, but she’s still as strong as ever. You rock, Mama!
The rest of my time in Malaysia were spent in Penang and KL. I’m really glad I had the chance to spend more time with my family this trip. I went out daily with my parents when they ran their errands; something I would be far too lazy to do years ago. It was lovely just having crazy chats with my dad, and heart-to-heart talks to mum. I also managed to view a spectacular display of fireworks on the day of Pai Ti Kong. You know those massive fireworks you see in New Year’s Eve? Something like that, just on a slightly smaller scale. We were just meters away from where the fireworks went off! What an awesome sight it was (yep, too awesome that I completely forgot to catch it on camera).
A trip to Kek Lok Si with the family for a veggo lunch.
Dinner with my girlfriends, Hester and MC in Penang at That Little Wine Bar. We also had a lovely spa session together.
Caught up with Connie for dinner. I’m sorry to have missed the rest of the #evurl ladies.
For the entire month, I was pretty much makeup-free on an almost-daily basis. It was just far too humid to slap anything on other than sunscreen and lipgloss that wouldn’t melt off the face the second you walk out the door. Oh, and I gave myself ‘holiday hair’. By that I mean I had my hair highlighted with shades of red. I haven’t coloured my hair in 3 years, thought I’d have a bit of fun. It didn’t turn out well at first, because the original streaks were far too red. It was as though my twenties called and it wanted my hair back 😛
And that’s pretty much it! It was a great holiday, but I sure am glad to be home. Next up, my shopping haul from Malaysia. Stay tuned for that one 😉
Oh, and before I go, I leave you with a picture of an uncle’s dog, Milky, which I managed to snap.
Aww!

We missed you… 🙁 Hopefully we’ll be able to catch up when you’re back next year… 😛

Welcome back, Tine! Sure looks like you’ve had a fabulous vacation! 🙂
that last picture of you is very pretty! the Malaysian climate (and the happiness glowing from your face) do wonders for your complexion! 🙂
Looks like you had a great holiday apart from getting sick. Lovely photos.
