Olay Total Effects moisturisers have been around the block for yonks, and there’s been rave reviews about them. Even my mum buys them for my grandma who absolutely swears by Olay. It’s unfortunate that they don’t work well on me because I found it a tad too rich for my oily skin, even when I use it at night. Still, the beauty-curious me had to check out the Total Effects moisturiser with cooling essence when it was launched.
Description:
Fights the 7 signs of ageing and keeps skin refreshed all day.
As it spreads over the skin, it releases its free water in a quick, cooling burst, teaming up with the mint extract to create a breezy sensation.
Glycerol and the age-fighting VitaNiacin complex absorb deeply into the skin’s surface where the active ingredients work to refresh the skin from within.
The pigments and emollients stay on the surface to cover imperfections and smooth and skin’s texture.
Scent – The moisturiser smells just like all Olay moisturisers do. I do like how Olay smells, so it’s a plus point.
Texture – Just slightly lighter than the regular Total Effects moisturisers. It’s still a cream.
The cooling essence gives a very slight tingly feeling after application. I’ve never been too keen on moisturisers with mint or menthol in them because they invariantly act as a skin irritant, but the amount of mint extract in this moisturiser is fairly (if not very) low that my skin does not scream “Help me I’m burning!” so we’re good. Just a teensy bit of a cooling effect – great for hot summer days.
I’m also glad to say that of all the Olay Total Effects moisturisers, this actually did work all right on my oily skin. It did not give my skin that awful shine (a healthy glow is good. A greasy shine is not), nor did I need to blot that often. The moisturiser kept my skin well hydrated. These points are definitely good enough for me as moisturisers go and this one’s a keeper.
Olay Total Effects with Cooling Essence retails at AU$32.49 for 50g and is available at all leading supermarkets, pharmacies and specialty outlets.
What I like about it: The cooling essence is soothing enough to use, without irritating the skin. Good oil-free moisturiser.
What I do not like about it: Nothing
So glad to see you’re blogging again! have missed you =)
Thanks for the review, I don’t mind the cooling feeling but I’ve only used face washes before. this sounds good I wouldn’t mind giving it a try one day 🙂
Thanks for reviewing this. I was looking up on this product but I wasn’t too sure. The original product without the cooling essence made my skin extremely oily. I need to be careful. The product is quite pricy in Aussie though…when there’s promo in KL is it can go until RM28+ only.
Is this effective for dark spots?
