Happy Wednesday ladies!
Oh what awful past few days I’ve had. Call it allergies, call it a very early-onset hay fever, but I’ve been sneezing very frequently lately, along with a runny nose and smarting, watery eyes. I don’t know what sort of antihistamine it was that the hubs gave me, but damn, it was potent. Yes it cured the allergy, but it also knocked me out so good, that I couldn’t even function properly the next day. My brains were mush, and blew my short-term memory to bits. Ugh.

I received a $20 MYER gift card on the mail a few days ago. I was thinking of perhaps getting a MAC Mineralize Blush with the voucher (even though I’m not usually keen on MAC products, I do like their Mineralize Blushes). As usual, it took a few minutes for the sales assistant to come to my rescue after I flipped all the MSFs (Mineralized Skinfinish) to look for Cheeky Bronze in the Colour Craft collection.
Problem 1: The sales assistant had no bloody clue what I was talking about when I asked her about the Cheeky Bronze MSF (I used the abbreviation MSF). After I explained it in detail to her, then only did she get the MSF for me.
Problem 2: She tested the MSF on her skin, not mine. Now I understand that there are some customers who’d prefer not to get the back of their hands dirty and appreciate that the sales assistant would apply it on the back of her hand instead, but I had to have it tested on my skin, as I’m Asian, and she’s Caucasian. When I decided not to get the MSF, I thanked her, but was received with a cold, curt nod, and she walked away.
Sigh. Am I never going to experience the good service from MAC that some of you have received? Even though I was keen on getting the Mineralize Blush in Gentle (I played with it on my own for a bit), I just couldn’t bear to give such people business.
With the gift voucher, I’ve decided to stock up on one of my HG skincare products instead, Clinique’s Turnaround Visible Skin Renewer serum. It was a timely purchase too, for I received quite a good GWP (Gift With Purchase) with the serum.
Money well spent in getting something I actually use every day, rather than blush which would just go on top of the amount of blush I already have.
*pat myself on the back*

Thanks to the Silk Naturals $20 voucher I won in a giveaway by Indulgent Reviews, I managed to revisit a favourite mineral makeup store that I once frequented.
A free sample with purchase
I was rather surprised that the cream eyeliner (in Midnight) came in such small volume. I know that I’d probably take ages to finish it, but still, I expected it to come in a jar. Hmm. Other than that, I’m very pleased with what I chose, especially the sheer blush in Stardust (thanks to Kahani for her recommendations).
Ahh time for me to enjoy the spoils for a bit 😛
Nah, dont’ worry, I don’t have special treatment from MAC store down here too, I only go there if I’m sure I’ll purchase something as I don’t like the cold stare too
Love your Clinique purchase and love the GWP that comes with it..great job with your purchase
you mean you got those for purchasing ONE clinique product? sigh…they’d make us spend a BOMB before getting anything close!
Oh wow! That’s a lovely GWP.
I’ve encountered only one nice MAC assistant before and that was in NZ. She was really lovely and they were really proper and hygienic about their testers. Provided plastic spatulas, petri-like dishes and cotton buds for everything. Lovely.
Don’t worry honey~ i never get good sevice at MAC, either they don’t know what they’re doing or they’re just plain rude! It’s a shame cos i’m really starting to like MAC. I think the only MAC store that offers good service (If you live in Sydney) is Chatswood Myer store ^^
Aww… too bad that MAC in Oz is still sucky with their staff. MAC here has been paying attention. Most of the time, at least. There are still some who should not be front-line staff.
Anyways… MAC Gentle is a lovely lovely colour. Dusted some on top of my NYX Plum, (on a very bare face with just powder), and got a mighty compliment from Kahani. =) Something about “perfect skin” and all. *tee hee* Sooo… just so you know Gentle is a VEEEERY nice blush. *winks*
And you’re tempting me with that Clinique serum. Maybe I should try it. Hmmm…. =P
Love mineral make up. It always makes me feel so light and airy!
I understand how you must have felt like with the antihistamine. Once, Piriton did this to me and at that time, I had to care for my little girl who was just 6 months…waking up in the middle of the night for feed, etc. Looking back..huh…I wonder how did I manage? 😉
And I thought over there customer service would be at least better than over here. No worries, MAC Pavilion has some really nice SAs. So when you come back, you can visit them.
And 9-pc GWP with the purchase of 1 item???? And I bet the Turnaround serum is cheaper than over here as well! If I were to purchase only that, I bet I should be grateful if I could walk away with a few sachets of skincare. I so like the eyeshadow, lipgloss, lipstick and mascara!
I went to Myer and David Jones yesterday to look at MAC colour craft too. I was so annoyed with the MA in David Jones, I stand there for more than 5 min looking for the MA but they just stand at the counter and continue chatting with the rest of MA. It’s not like they are even busy. Sigh. Such a put off, I end up going to Myer which at least the MA attend me for a while.
I find that it’s usuallly a hit or miss when it comes to customer service at MAC stores…unfortunately!
Anyways, great post and great blog!

I’m a freelance makeup artist and I’ve been to MAC religiously. However the last few times I was utterly shocked! They carry their brush rolls/belts everywhere they go…ie toilets and food court! Talk about hygiene and sanitation!!!
oohh.. some antihistamine can really get you high and knock you out. Try Zyrtec next time. it’s a little more expensive but no drowsiness at least! At least you got a better deal at Clinique! and that’s quite a generous GWP 😀
