Took me long enough to do this!
I’m really excited about this, because finally, after almost a year of searching, I managed to get the right tools for my Sephora-inspired makeup brush holder. I’ve been wanting something like this for ages, but believe it or not, tiny vase fillers aren’t all that easy to find.
I’ve been scouring thrift stores, $2 stores, florists, etc to find the exact type of vase fillers I wanted for my holder, but all of them were either too big (like marbles), or too fine and scratchy (almost like sand). I needed something smooth which would not scratch the handles of my brushes. Lo and behold, when I was at Chadstone a few days ago, I found this at Wheel & Barrow.
The textured highball glass was even on sale, so I was quick to snap it up as well. The drops weren’t cheap though; they were double the price of the glass!
Still, I’m very happy with my brush holder, and can finally display it proudly, along with my regularly-used brushes, on my dresser. I almost don’t even care about having to wipe dust off the brushes every now and then 😛
Really nice, Tine! I’ve been wanting to make a brush holder like this for ages, after having watched so many YT videos of some makeup gurus, hehe… but still haven’t found the right tools yet. :p
Well, so I have to use my vintage looking P&J brush holder (which is not ugly at all) in the meantime. 😉
that’s rather cute! Enkore has a YouTube tutorial of a similar item.
So pretty Tine!! The black beads give them an air of elegance! 😀
yeah, vase fillers are hard to find! T_T
urs look neat and great! me likey! good job!
you are pretty talented girl!!! that’s very very pretty and neat 😀
very cute! I use colored rice for my brush holder 🙂 works fine! and I prefer this method of storing my brushes rather than in a jar without filling because I don’t want my brushes to stick together
Oooo…pretty!
What a simple and great idea! 🙂
Jess:
Thanks! I took the idea from blogs and YouTube too. Oooh a vintage P&J holder sounds mighty fine 🙂
Jenn:
My sentiments exactly 🙂 I like it that each bead is completely different in size.
Jojoba:
Yep, got it from him 😉
Nikki:
Aww thanks babes.
Plue:
It was! I searched for almost a freakin’ year!
Connie:
Rice!! *smack forehead* Why didn’t I think of that before?
Indulgent Diva:
Thanks 🙂
Shop N’ Chomp:
Thank you 🙂
Tine, if u come back to Msia, I think I saw something like those vase fillers in Jusco garden section, RM4.90 per pack. It is little spheres, not as small as yours tho, but it looks quite ok, not scratchy i think. Reckon those would be good?
You are welcome dear! I saw this in Midvalley Jusco, not sure if it’s in other Jusco. And they come in many colours too! 😀 😀 😀
dang girl…now you’ve got me having itchy hands to try something as well! 🙂 very pretty indeed!
I am pretty sure the beads that Sephora uses are called “micro beads”. They are used in various art projects, like mosaics. The ones I am getting are 2mm, about the right size, have no holes like traditional beads, and come in a few colors, including clear. They are also not very expensive… just know that each vile is only 1 ounce, so you will need to figure out how many ounces you need for your particular brush holder. The website I found today is: http://www.blockheadstamps.com. Just thought I would share this info as it took me about an hour of online searching to find the right words for Google. Good luck!
I ravaged the net for those beads but I couldn’t find them anywhere! Can you buy and send them to me?
Don’t worry about the costs, I’m willing to cover it all. Let me know, k? Thanks so much!!
