Good Wednesday, ladies! I hope the week is treating y’all well so far. I’m still packing for my trip to Malaysia so the room is looking pretty messy at the moment. As in bags, clothes and plastic bags all over the place till there’s barely room to walk. Tsk tsk.
In the meantime, I thought I’d bring up a poll for you. Today’s question is – do you use serums?
I introduced serums into my skincare routine 4 years ago. Even though Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel and Moisture Surge are my favourite moisturisers, they serve nothing more than a hydrating medium for my skin. As I grew older, I knew that my skin needed more. This is where the serums came in.
Different serums are used for my day and night skincare routines. During the day, before applying my moisturiser, I use Cellnique’s Pro Sebum Gel (to prevent breakouts) and Olay’s Regenerist Serum. It might seem a lot for the day, but these gels are so light, that they do not weigh my skin down nor cause any breakouts.
At night, just before I sleep, I’d apply Clinique’s Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer and Paula’s Choice’s Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate (I’ll do a review on this soon). The former works as a skin exfoliant, and the latter is a boost of antioxidants for the skin. I apply them daily without fail, and have achieved good results.
It seems like a lot on the skin, I know, but I use serums very sparingly. Only a smaller-than-a-pea-sized blob of each serum is needed for the entire face and neck. As a result, my skin has become a lot smoother, and my skin tone a lot more even.
What about you? Do you use serums too? If so, do you just use one, or many like me? 😛
The poll will close in a month.
I love the Regenerist serum too, I use in the morning, it seems to calm my skin down.
I’ve heard great things about Clinique Repairwear Deep Wrinkle concentrate for face and
eye – that’s what I’m saving up for!
hmm i have tried different brands of serums and dont know why all of them just give me breakouts! the smooth mattifying thing just horrifies my skin 🙁 as far as i know:
-TBS vit c serum didnt work for me
– bio essence 7-days youthful serum failed on me
and i have tried some other brands, just none worked!!!
You mentioned u use Cellnique’s Pro Sebum Gel (to prevent breakouts). Does it really work in preventing breakouts? because am 26 years old and i still have breakouts/acne. So if this really works, i might head to the counter this weekend to get it 🙂
I may need to get that Pro Sebum gel too (i think it’s called B.liv now or something)! i have these horrible pimples on my forehead that never go away!!! 🙁
The only serum i use is the Lancome neurowhite spot corrector (is that even a serum or what! lol!)… i can’t live without it!!
You use two serums at one time? Do you use anything after that? Moisturizer? When I do use serum, I only use one at a time and then moisturize afterwards.
Hi Tine, I just found your blog while googling for asian makeup and I’m so excited. I’m also Malaysian and just moved over to Melb last year Aug. Anyways, just wanted to say hi. I’m sure I’ll be spending more time browsing around your blog. 🙂 Happy New Year!
I think my first love will always be TBS Vit C Skin Boost…simply because of what it did for me…and I’m STILL using it four years later! 😀
Clinique’s Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer used to be my all time favorite. I just finished SKII’s Repair C serum today!! and is on the look out for a new one. I am thinking to try Prescriptive’s Super Line Preventor, heard pretty good reviews about it.
Hey i’m using Olay regenerist serum too. Is only been 3rd day but already loving it.. but need to layer it with moisturizer. I see you using PC antioxidant as well, do u use it together with Olay renegerist?
